I have done similar on my PS4 to get cheaper US releases but you can get issues with DLC etc so how does it work on Xbone in that regard - most importantly if I were to get Halo MCC on US store can I co op with a mate who has the UK version?

As a few new owners here is it worth posting how you buy from the US store in the fred? I assume its a different process to the PS4?

I can't remember what I've done with DLC myself as I tend to buy the season pass same time as the game but this link here seems to suggest you can mix and match.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/691088-xbox-one/70464795

ah I just remembered. You CAN mix and match. I bought a disc based Forza Horizon 2 and bought the Storm Island DLC from another region store. Works fine.

My play and charge seems to not be working so well now. I left my pad plugged in overnight but the little orange light never went white, indicating a full charge. It complains of low battery quite quickly when unplugged. I only noticed the problem when I got my Elite controller. Am now trying recharging it in another pad to eliminate potential causes. Any other ideas or is it just a gonner?

Just asking if my Kinetic from XBOX 360 is the same as Kinetic for XBOX One. Just checking.

Try plugging it into the kinect port on the back of the console and you'll have your answer.

As raf said, you can mix & match any game with DLC - they're all the same. You buy from store X on xbox.com then just switch on your console which is routed to the UK store and download the games on that. No hassle or worries.

My psu has such a noticeable fan hum that it prevents me from having it on Instant On (it's in an av unit now anyway where i fear it would get too hot anyway but still). It has been like this since day one and online reports say it's pot luck to getting a hummer so i never bothered replacing it.

Mine hums and I only bought it on Wednesday, oh well I tend to play with headphones on anyway. The MCC is brilliant I am absolutely loving it, really glad I got the bone.

On the 360 I had a few plug and play things, all official and the newest of them was the same - the battery was obv shot so likely the issue you have.

Different Kinetics.

Different Kintections you mean

If you want that game for less than £40 go buy from the US store. Everything is region free on xbox one you can buy from the US store but digitally download from the UK store as it's exactly the same game. If you want to know how just chuck me a PM happy to oblige.

There are posts about doing this all over Discussion. Would you mind posting it once more?

I'm after Halo 5 but I'm sure I can get it for less than the £45 they're asking on the UK store.

People have mentioned the Russian store, and some others, that are often cheaper than US. Does it matter where you get it from, language wise and stuff?

this subject must come up once every few weeks! its easy enough to do, on your xbox or the xbox website change your locale to country of your choice and redeem a gift card bought from amazon.com for USA, if you want to be cheeky use an address in oregon or another tax free state to avoid that. you can use various microsoft store sites for other regions such as singapore, russia and i'm not sure which others stock digital gift cards and I guess there's other websites you can get gift cards for other regions from, but they probably sell at a small profit rather than at the value of the actual cost of the card itself.

this website is handy

http://www.digitalgamesprices.com/xboxone.php

your best bet for Halo 5 is singapore for £32.31, you can use this microsoft store site and buy singapore gift cards -

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store?keywords=xbox+live&SiteID=mssg&Locale=en_SG&Action=DisplayProductSearchResultsPage&result=&sortby=score%20descending&filters=

be sure to choose "digital gift card" and I believe you can pay by paypal, if not you may need to find a singapore hotel address on google and use that. with halo 5 it costs $69.90 in singapore dollas, so you buy a $50 and a $20 digital gift card, go to xbox.com and scroll down to where it says "united kingdom" - choose singapore from the list of countries and then redeem codes.

all games are in english as far as i know, never come across anything dodgy in the past

Yeah, it's not the battery, it just charged up in my other controller no problem.

Will check Microsoft Support to see if the Elite is supposed to be Play and Charge compatible.

While we're handing out advice for the new joiners can I recommend you take a look at EA Access. For £20 a year you get lots of EA games like Battlefield 4 (plus some DLC), FIFA 15 (you get the latest FIFA 6-8 months after the retail release), Battlefield Hardline, Titanfall, Need for Speed, NHL 15, Dragon Age Inquisition etc etc.

You also get beta access and early access to various games through the year.

Awesome value for money.

It's amazing when you look back at the advice given to new starters around how the co sole works. There's always confusion around the the settings function but explaining all the things console has going for it like the easy region free buying and EA Access you realise what an ace console it is.

Genuinely excited to see more rllmukers picking one up this Xmas.

Got my Xbox yesterday and very pleased with it. Got a 500GB model with Fifa 16, Forza Horizon 2 and a months EA access for £227.

Absolutely love the pad and I didn't like the 360 pad at all. The rumble triggers are superb and the new sticks are very comfy.

All done. Halo 5 for less than £34. Thanks again.

Am I ok to change my region back to UK?

yeah if you buy from website you never have to set your console to US/Singapore etc just set browser to US buy game and then change it back immediately.

(I have heard that someone said given staggered release dates you might need to be on other region to unlock it then switch but that hasnt happened to me)

I live in Japan and looking at the list of past games with gold on wikipedia makes for depressing reading. Last month, instead of Walking Dead, Japan got Splosion Man.
Last December instead of The Raven , japan got Splosion Man.
September: perfect dark zero instead of Metro last light.
Pdz was also given in july 2014 instead of gotham city imposters.
August: Full House Poker instead of Battlestations:pacific
Full house poker was also given in july 2013 instead of assassins creed 2.

There have even been months where no replacement game was given in Japan. So when everywhere else got terarria and assassins creed 4 on 360 , Japan just got nothing.

The xbox one list is even worse.

I remember being impressed when Asassins Creed 4 for xbox one was a GWG game. Apparently here in Japan it was replaced with Halo:Spartan Assault. Great...
Max the curse of brotherhood has been given 4 times, as a replacement for the likes of tomb raider and rayman legends.

I know "disrespectful" sounds like hyperbole but relatively speaking, I think it is a very disrespectful way to treat the few people who for whatever reason have bothered to purchase their product in Japan instead of the more obvious Sony/Nintendo alternative.

No they can't do that the account can only be designated a single console as its "home console" plus the first user given the account simply changes the password and email address and it's theirs forever.

Even better.

So I guess these accounts are definitely stolen then.

So I guess these accounts are definitely stolen then.

Either that or the payment info is stolen, they create multiple new accounts then buy the game on each account using those details then sell on the account as quick as they can. What's bad is that it's abusing the system in place and if it continues and MS put the foot down it'll screw game sharing for the rest of us.

A new NXOE update was released yesterday for selected preview members - might be worth checking under system info in case it's there and needs forced. Sorry the formatting is all over the place copy/pasting stuff to here is a real pain in the arse.

A New Xbox One Experience update is rolling out to NXOE Preview participants tonight at 4PM PT, October 31st. This update contains key fixes and stability improvements - see below for details.

HOW TO GET IT:

If your console is in Instant-On mode and you have been selected, it will download and install the update and reboot to standby.

NOTE: Once the update is available to your wave, you can manually begin the update by navigating to Settings > System and selecting System Update.

If your console hasn’t downloaded and installed the update by 1:00AM PT 11/02/2015, you will be prompted to do so at that time.

DETAILS:

OS version released: th2_xbox_rel_1510.151029-2122

Available: 4:00PM PDT 10/31 (5PM GMT 10/31)

Sign-In Issues:

We’re currently tracking a sign-in issue which some users are experiencing. If you’re having difficulty signing in, please try the workaround below, and if it resolves the issue, please reply to this thread in the Preview forums. Workaround: Go to Settings/Account/Remove accounts and delete your account. Then, open Guide/Sign in tab/Add & manage/Add new to recover your profile to the Xbox.

Disc Based Games:

When attempting to launch a disc based game, you may be prompted to sign in with the user who owns the game. Workaround: Eject and re-insert the game disc.

Fixes:

YouTube console shutdown: Your console should no longer shut down when launching the YouTube app.

Green screen after system update: This build contains a fix to address issues with the console loading to a green or black screen after downloading a system update.

Blank App Tiles: Game and app tiles in My games & apps should no longer appear blank.

Wireless Networking: This build contains a fix to address being unable to detect wireless networks with an external hard drive attached.

Party and game chat: This build contains a fix to address being unable to hear others when joining a party chat, while game chat would function normally.

Media Player: The media player should no longer fail to connect to DLNA content.

Known Issues:

Game and App Issues:

Game or App Crashes: Some users may experience game or app crashes which require the game to be force closed. Workaround: Relaunch the game or app, or, navigate home and use the menu button to force close the app, then relaunch it.

Titanfall: Titanfall may fail to connect to Xbox Live. Workaround: Hard reset the console.

NFL Live App: When playing videos in the NFL Live App, the screen may dim after a short period of time.

Forza 6:

Forza 6 may fail to update due to an installation stopped error.

Forza 6 may fail to resume a suspended session after powering on the console in Instant-On mode.

General System Issues:

Xbox App:

You may be unable to power on or off your console from the Connection Window in the Xbox App. Workaround: Select More > Forget Console and re-add the console.

When using the Xbox App to power on or off your console, the Xbox App may fail to display whether the console was properly powered on or off. Workaround: Select More > Forget Console and re-add the console.

High Contrast Mode: When a user enables High contrast mode in Settings, High contrast mode is always enabled on the console regardless of which user is signed in. You can disable High contrast mode under Settings > Ease of Access > High contrast.

Dashboard: You may encounter English text with strange characters on the Home screen. This is placeholder text and will be corrected in a future update.

Store: Preordered games may display as fully installed and no longer have a “Preorder” designation in My games & apps.

Disc Installations: If installing a disc based game while no one is signed in on the console, launching the game will cause the game to start, but crash to a black screen shortly after.

Sign-in, security & passkey: If you have enabled passkey or password protection for Settings, you may experience issues accessing certain sections of Settings. Workaround: Navigate to Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey and update your configuration. If you have trouble accessing this section in Settings, hard reset your console.

Snap Center: When YouTube is snapped, it may share input with the home screen.

System Update Errors: If you encounter an update error screen while downloading a system update and the console freezes, please wait 3 minutes before rebooting the console to ensure crash data is automatically captured.

Upload Studio: Upload Studio may become unresponsive and crash when you select “Manage your clips” and press B to go back.

USB TV Tuner: Saying “Xbox Pause” or pressing pause on the media remote may fail to pause TV.

MS should be savvy enough to detect where the same payment details are being used across multiple accounts, and there are significantly better fraud detection algorithms available to the card networks these days, so it's not something that should be too difficult for them to shut down without blocking sharing entirely.

Instant On is great, but the lack of resilience is annoying.

If your Internet connection dies at any point, your console simply won't do any downloads until you next turn your console on.

My console was off (set as Instant On) for about 4 days, and 1 day into that my Internet connection failed briefly. I turned my console on yesterday, and it had a dashboard update, and a 4GB BF4 update to complete.

It would be nice if, on losing connection, it checked back every, say, 4 hours to see if it could get back online.

Does anyone use an astro mixamp with the xbone - I briefly tried mine but didn't get any recognition that the usb mic was active like on ps4 - It seems to suggest on the internet that i need to plug a cable from my pad to the mixamp??

I was hoping to avoid the pad port as it seems to have really bad wifi issues with the sound dropping constantly :(

I get that but only when the controller battery is running low - it does usually start before the on-screen notification telling you it's low though.

Hmm, this was with fresh batteries and I tried to resync it with no difference.

I have fond out that to chat you need to use the cable unless you get the new Mixamp TR and then its just a usb cable to the machine, was pretty much going to order one until I read you need a separate mixamp TR for bone and ps4 FFS :o

So thought fuck it will put up with using the lead but as my mate doesn't have a new pad he would need a headphone adaptor thing for the pad and to use the lead or just a headset into the pad

While the games on the bone are good thus far the machine is a clusterfuck, I never thought I would say that PSN for party chat works better than Live - how the hell have MS let this happen!!?!?!?

Also of note is that the wii u and ps4 both offer audio from the pads with no drop outs experienced in same setup.
