Game capturing, do you have to load up the DVR app each time before you load a game - I read something that said to double tap the xbox button and to select the DVR but it wasn't there until I added it to the side bar!?!?!?!?!

Double-tap offers the option to record the last 30 seconds to disk.

If you actually want to record what you're GOING to do (for up to 10 minutes I think?), you have to launch the DVR app and hit record on that.

I think I get it!

Basically I just want to do what the share button on ps4 does - record the last 3 mins or so, you know for those epic moments in online game etc!

So double tap and I can do same as share

I'm back from a stupidly long bus trip to the other side of Liverpool, to pick up a new Xbox One from Argos on the same deal. Somebody had reserved it but not picked it up so I was able to snag it. The good news is that it's all plugged in and appears to be updating ok. When I first turned it on it looked like it rebooted immediately, which I wasn't expecting, which made my heart sink. But so far it's looking all good. Thank God for that and for my Virgin broadband. My friend bought one with me on Wednesday (his worked fine) and it took him around 10 hours to install Halo 5. Welcome to the future!

That's good to know. So to share longer Forza replays, queue up the DVR app and then set the replay running.

Yes but you can pause them with the start button where it'll move onto the next in the queue.

Re Clips & sharing.

Snap the Game DVR app.

Select start recording or end clip now.

Choose time (30s, 45s, 1, 3 or 5 minutes )

You can use the Upload app to edit these clips together up to 5 clips ad infinitum....

to upload a clip to youtube

open youtube app

press left

select upload

choose clip from your library

Name it

upload.

the MS website isn't bad for this stuff

http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/apps/upload-game-dvr

If you cant click on that then basically any game you play it is recording regardless of whether you snap the gamedvr app or not. And you dont need to run gamedvr to save necessarily..,.

If you have Kinect simply say "Xbox Record that" and it will snapshot save the last 30 secs. Or double tap the xbox button and press X to do the same thing for Non-kinect peasants ;)

Otherwise doubletap the xbox button and snap the GameDVR app and then you can select to save the gameplay recorded upto 5 mins ago. Or you can use the same menu and tell it to start recording now and then resume playing (cant imagine what use that would be but its there).

I heard kinects are down to $100 new. Are devs tuning games on the assumption the kinect isn't using up... whatever processing time it was, meaning you need to worry about turning it off when not generally using it? Or do you folks with kinects just leave them be?

no you dont have to turn it off

as I understand it if a game wants the extra Kinect "power" it just has to ask for it and ensure the game doesnt use any feature that needs that power.

Note that voice recognition is totally unaffected even if a game is using that "power" as it doesnt give it all to the game just most of it

I never thought I'd say this but I'm honestly thinking of getting shot of my PS4 and Wii U. I really like my Xbox.

Plus I could put the spare cash towards an Elite controller.

How times have changed. Don't let Boozy see that.

I notice that when Kinect isn't being used by a game the three (or four?) red lights on the front of it turn off. Hitting pause on a game usually brings the lights back on so it only seems to be when the game is running which makes sense.

So... does anyone know what to do when your console turns into a brick? I downloaded the latest firmware update (I'm on the preview program) and now when I switch my Xbox on, it won't get past the green 'Xbox One' splash screen.

Edit: Ah, I found out how to fix it thanks to that internet thing they've got these days. Unplug everything for a while. Then only plug the power and hdmi cable in and power back on. Worked like a treat.

Don't worry mate I've pumped my PS4 out the door as well it was a rocket league machine and that's coming to XB at some point. Was going to use the money for some elite pads but I'm going to punt an xb1 and the wiiU as well and get an Xbox elite bundle. Go where the games are.

Basically they'll use one account and give everyone access to it, this was done a lot on the 360 then it turned out a lot of these accounts were stolen...

The game wouldn't belong to you at all, if you ever had to change your console or reset it then unless they kept the login and password the same (extremely unlikely) you wouldn't have access to it.

Look up how to buy digital games from the us store or Russian store. It's very easy. Way easier than on ps4 as you use exactly the same gamertag so no need to switch accounts etc.

You can end up buying digital for the same price as physical with the added bonus that you can share that digital purchase between two X boxes meaning even cheaper games.

Also also.

When someone adds you as a friend, accept the request and then add them back. Otherwise they won't register as a friend, they'll be listed as a follower. (It's not a system I'm keen on)

When you add friends if you add them as a favourite they will always appear towards the top of your friends list and you will also get a notification when they are online etc.

Hello all, think I've added everyone on the list now, lovely to make everyone's acquaintance. Super annoyingly am away this weekend so can't play with my new toy. But thankfully have the smart glass app (how good is that?). Quick question about headsets. What's the official Xbox one like? I've got some nice headphones but lack a mic, so was debating getting a proper headset. Is there one that's considered a must have?

So how does these "buy games via a user account" work? Like this one here http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161873421489&alt=web

Is it safe? Would the game belong to me without any future issues and could I add dlc to it easy enough?

The prices seem really good. Almost too good...

Don't go near this - firstly the price isn't that good considering you won't own the game. The key thing about it is they want you to assign that account your "home xbox" - that will then enable you to play that one specific game on your own profile. If you were to buy another game from that same or a similar seller that would then be another account which you would have to enable the console as "home" for. Setting console to home is time restricted I think you can change it a maximum of 3 times a year.

When you swap the consoles "home" designation from the COD user to the other you would then lose access to COD unless you signed in specifically as the account COD is assigned to - so you could no longer play it on your own profile and would effectively be starting the game again from scratch as that account with no save/rank/unlocks and so on.

If you want that game for less than £40 go buy from the US store. Everything is region free on xbox one you can buy from the US store but digitally download from the UK store as it's exactly the same game. If you want to know how just chuck me a PM happy to oblige.

No they can't do that the account can only be designated a single console as its "home console" plus the first user given the account simply changes the password and email address and it's theirs forever.

I have done similar on my PS4 to get cheaper US releases but you can get issues with DLC etc so how does it work on Xbone in that regard - most importantly if I were to get Halo MCC on US store can I co op with a mate who has the UK version?

As a few new owners here is it worth posting how you buy from the US store in the fred? I assume its a different process to the PS4?

Here you go

One of the ways to do it.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=722968

Essentially, buy Xbox Live Credit from Amazon.com and redeem the code on the xbox.com website (first changing the region on the website to US) or on your console (change region on your xbox to US).

The link says do it on your console, but it's easier doing it on the xbox.com website.
