Xbox One Console Thread

There's one thing that really annoys me about the Xbox One, something that was already a problem on the 360 and is also completely irrelevant to 90% of this forum - but I'm still going to say it. Microsoft has decreed that if you live in the Netherlands, you must use Dutch language settings. This is NOT optional. If you have your locale set as the Netherlands, you cannot select the English version of the dash. And if you set your locale as UK, the store automatically switches to the UK store.

Same deal with Sweden. I live here but want an English language dash, so I have to switch the entire console to the uk store (which makes purchases a pain in the ass. Thankfully I still have a bank account registered at my parents address in England)

Received my new Xbox One on Thursday and have been playing Forza 6 almost religiously today, it's such a polished racing game. :)

Another quick question, is the controller marketed on Amazon UK "Official Xbox One Wireless Controller With 3.5mm Stereo Headset Jack" the new Xbox one controller with rubberised base, new bumpers and audio jack for any headset?

Also, the play and charge kit will work with both versions of the controller won't it?

Thanks guys! I'll be ordering the new one, I missed the PS4's ability to have that audio stream to the controller so glad Microsoft brought out the updated controller.

Wish I knew about it before ordering the 500GB console though!

Yeah, I noticed that but I really fancy having the updated one and don't like the idea of adaptors hanging off the controller. Also the bumpers on this thing are a bit pony so will go with the upgrade.

my Bone also came with the original controller and the bumpers alone make the new version worth every penny imo. The difference is night and day. The bumper buttons are so awful on the old controller that I can't imagine Dark Souls 3 will even be playable on the damn thing. But that's all fixed in the 2015 model. Apart from that, the adapter is surprisingly expensive - for only twice its price you get the fancy new controller with both the excellent bumper buttons and the headphone jack. I'm really happy I upgraded :)

I'm sure they're better, but I've played dozens of hours of Titanfall using the bumper jumper pilot config without any bother - it's the clicky sound that's most annoying ;)

Hmm, the upgraded controller does sound good. I like the headphone volume controls on the old pad+adaptor. Don't suppose the new controller has that does it?

You can use both. The new headsets that come with the consoles to use the 3.5mm jacks are wank though. They're like an old cheap £3.99 GAMEWARE knockoff 360 headset.

Just to clarify, the new controller accepts headphones but doesn't have any volume controls etc on it. I personally find the adaptor much better to use because of that.

I have had more issues with the latest build with it freezing on the dash (specifically the new friends bar on the left) and the controller not responding or shutting the console down. It wouldn't allow me to load a game disc yesterday telling me that I didn't own the game but a hard reset sorted this out.

Its defo buggy but it doesn't seem to effect games (other than the disc thing above) so I'm sticking with it for the time being. I do wonder at what point in Nov this will be ready for general release though.

On an unrelated note I tried that Layers of Evil demo, not bad and very atmospheric so might pay for the full (unreleased) version as it just over a tenner.
