Yes, you get 2 free games a month, this month was Valiant Hearts and the complete 1st season of The Walking Dead. Last month was Tomb Raider and Deer God. You also get to use all games released on Games With Gold on 360, going forward, whenever the new dash is released with the backwards compatibility.

Yeah, installing from a disc takes aaaaaaaages. Makes me wonder if downloading isn't miles faster, unlike the PS4 the XB1 seems to acknowledge that I have decent internet connection. Microsoft convincing gamers to go all-digital in the most ingenious and sneaky way possible.

I'm considering buying the Xbox One today or tomorrow from Amazon, but wondering whether to go download only...

Our home has 8 - 10mb Broadband and I'm thinking, if I go for the Forza 6 Console it comes with the game but as a download code and the box states 44GB is required. I don't think I've ever download 1 file that is that big before! I was considering going for a vanilla console and buy discs but this talk of slow install times is making me question the idea.

With 10mb broadband at best, should I still buy discs or go for download only?

Wools: I moved house recently and can only get 10mb broadband in my new place, and it's been fine to be honest. It'll be a little bit annoying if you buy the console and want to play it immediately, but generally I haven't had any problems with it taking days to download big games, especially if you set it to download stuff in standby. The last Xbone game I bought was the remastered Gears of War, and that seemed to download overnight.

I'd go digital only. Just make sure your console is set to Instant On (they run through and explain the two power options on your initial boot) so that it downloads updates, and continues existing downloads while your console is off.

You'll be surprised at how fast the console pulls down huge downloads.

Also, an external hard drive is a wise purchase. I think Xbox One supports upto 5TB but it could be more. I'll be getting a big one when I have the cash spare. Just make sure it's USB3 and is from a reputable manufacturer.

2-3Mb max DL speed for me, and no sign of any infinity or cable in our rural bliss. Which means it's disc only for me for the foreseeable.

Never gonna wait 50 hours for a full game download, especially when I couldn't use the BB for anything else, like Netflix or YT for 2+ days.

Also means a nice 8-10 hour wait for the mandatory Halo 5 MP content to download on launch day (but at last I can polish off the campaign while I'm waiting).

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I might go for the DLC Forza 6 console then. :)

If there is any way you can borrow Forza, you can install it from the disc as the install is exactly the same as the digital version. Then just redeem the code to unlock it digitally - no download needed.

I was just perusing Game's website and the Playstation 4 offerings are bad. I think the Christmas showdown might be closer than people expect.

I really hope Microsoft significantly outsell Sony this year. If they don't, one would assume that development costs of big AAA exclusive titles will be harder to justify in the future and that we'll see fewer titles like Halo, Quantum Break or Crackdown being announced. I expect that backwards compatibility wasn't a trivial task to achieve and that that sort of effort is part of the investment Microsoft would hope to be rewarded for.

If Sony can outsell them with essentially nothing but Battlefront marketing rights and the promise of Uncharted next year and be cheered on for doing so then I think it's possible that it could have an impact on budgeting and expenditure in the future.

A two horse race is better for consumers, no matter how irrationally you love or hate the runners.

So suddenly my home hub has decided that the ports that are forwarded for the Xbox one are not good enough anymore and my Xbox is now a strict nat again. Settings on the console say it cannot get a teredo IP address.

I fucking hate this hassle. Never had any issues like this in 9 years of 360. The home hub is wank.

Home hub 4 user here. Yep they are complete shite. Here's how I get an open Nat every single time.

Change your wireless channel to channel 9, put the Xbox in the DMZ, switch the firewall off and I personally turn upnp off entirely.

I know this may not work for everyone but just throwing my experience out there. Give it a try, I never have any problem getting the NAT open

Can you see somewhere in the dash how fast a download is actually going? When I do the network test thing, my XB1 reports an open NAT and a 178mb connection. Which is close enough to my actual download speed and far better than PSN ever managed. But I'd like to see how fast a download is actually going, the pre-load for Halo 5 for example took a lot longer than it should have at 178mb/s

It's a lovely shade of blue, in the flesh.

Edit- er, thought someone had posted about the Forza console.

^_^

Must admit, I decided against buying the Forza bundle because of the colour scheme. It's a bit too turquoise for me eyes and the controller especially stands out. Prefer the original colour scheme even if it's just black, the angular lines remind me a bit of the PlayStation 2.

I'm like a school kid waiting for the console to turn up at the office. :omg:
