Xbox One Console Thread

So what settings do I need to get my Xbox downloading stuff at 2015 speeds? NAT type is open, though unfortunately I'm on wireless because all the ports on my hub are being used. I just ran a connection test and my download speed is being measured at 40mbps, but it has only managed to install 3% of BF Hardline since I left the house at 6pm.

Edit: sorry, Virgin Superhub. 100mb connection.

Anywhere you can get this on offer at the moment? I fancy trying it out

It's £4 for a month. How much of an offer are you hoping for ?

What about £20 a year instead? Is that cheap enough?

Careful, the last time someone asked that the Xbox fans negged him and demanded to know why he wanted to get something that was already a reasonable price for even less. He even had the audacity to ask if there was a 30 day trial.

I did like that it followed previous discussions about them all abusing the family sharing system and buying cheaper games from different regions.

Well, that's my Xbox completely full, having signed up to EA Access. Games are too bloody big, these days. How's a basketball game 15GB? Still, Battlefield 4 should be done later this afternoon. It would be nice to have an option to say "just give me the MP" without any of the SP guff, though.

For the trials of NFS and what not, do you have to download the full game?

Storage is relatively cheap nowadays. I'd much prefer larger downloads and better visuals.

Well, tonight absolutely nothing is working properly. None of my games or apps work first time. They all crash several times worth a generic 'something went wrong' error. Button presses aren't registering most of the time, and taking the error message's advice and typing the error code into xbox.com brings up no results.

I'm really not sure the NXOE is going to be ready on time.

New dash is certainly better than the old one. It could still do with being improved but ultimately it's a bit more user friendly. I'm not really having too many problems with it so far either. The odd error message and some strange fonts but that's it.

It's probably always been the same but I've noticed movie rentals appear to be £4.95 on the Microsoft store. No wonder torrenting / streaming continues to gain popularity.

Then again, movie rentals were £4 in Blockbuster 15 years ago, and you had to drive down there.

Locally, non Blockbuster, they where £2 or £3 for me per rental when independent video / dvd stores existed. I'd suggest £3 would be the sweetspot these days to try and combat piracy.

It's £4.49 per rental is it not anyway elsewhere (iTunes etc)? Why more from Microsoft?

Some people have money and don't care about paying for the convenience of having films available on demand like that. Also it's far cheaper to pay £5 to stream Minions say than take even one kid to see whatever the latest flick is at the cinema.
