Xbox One Console Thread

However, Driveclub turned out to be a fantastic game once they managed to overcome whatever issues affected them initially.

No doubt it did. It started getting better towards Xmas 2014 TBH. But for me it was too little delivered far to late. It was delay after delay and DC was one of the reasons I originally opted for a PS4. The PS4's fate was sealed when I played Forza Horizon 2 on XBO. Then I simply decided I couldn't justify having two consoles. Hardly any decent drivers on PS4 and probably a huge delay until GT7 left me with only one option really. Never looked back and will probably never pick up a PS4 again - may borrow one (brother has one) just to play the odd exclusive though that's it.

That's almost exactly my story except my PS4 is hanging on and I'm using it for exclusives... Rocket League N++ Everybody's Gone to Rapture etc... but I can see it is a "waste of money" but then I think about how much I'd get for selling it and whilst it feels extravagant (I hardly have time to game at all) I won't miss out on future exclusives

Basically I went for a PS4 on launch day due to Driveclub, the fact it had a free version and the "superior power" compared to Xbox One, obviously it was delayed prior to PS4 launch but I thought "oh well couple of months without a decent race game won't be so bad". A lot of months later with no decent racer and with a bonus from work I bought an Xbox One and not looked back. I tried Driveclub once the PS+ version appeared this year (!!!) and I was underwhelmed.

I don't play a huge amount but I am loving Forza 5 and horizon 2... and rare replay and Halo MCC (even tho I have made a tiny dent in Halo 2 it is all there for me to play when i eventually have time). And now for the rest of the year Gears of War Ultimate inc all the others on backwards compatible, New Tomb raider, Fable Legends, Halo 5 if I fancy it (I have alot of Halo already) and Forza 6 if I fancy upgrading my Forza. That is ALOT of exclusives not even mentioning the multi platform stuff. And not even mentioning 2016!

Yeah I might still sell the PS4.

If I wasn't more than happy to have all 3 consoles sitting there I've no idea which one I'd choose. The diversity and the majority of my chums are PS4, plus the definitive version of most multi-platforms.

But virtually every exclusive worth a damn is on Xbox One. And a timed exclusive pretty much counts.

I dont game online with friends much (no friends lol) just randoms on rocket league etc. The power thing doesnt bother me overly, it niggles but thats all.

So yeah its purely the ps4 exclusives and amusingly the ones that interest me are the indie efforts that don't exactly tax the PS4.

Tomb Raider is a prime moneyhat as it was obviously in development multi platform before MS swooped in and bought limited exclusivity.

As far as I know the rest announced for 2015 /16 are all developments funded by MS or developed by MS studios, not exclusives that were paid for after development started multiplatform.

2015

Forza 6 - 1st party

Rare replay - 1st party

Gears - 1st party

Halo 5 - 1st party

Fable Legends - 1st party

Gigantic - dont know

2016

ScaleBound - 3rd party but always a funded MS 3rd party

Quantum Break- 3rd party but always a funded MS 3rd party

Crackdown 3 - 1st party? or 2nd party?

Recore (which seems surprising given the limited e3 reveal) - 3rd party but always a funded MS 3rd party

Gears 4 - 1st or 2nd party

*I know uncharted collection is coming out but its not worth a damn to me

Fixed that for you (and obviously excluding the exclusives that have already happened, like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture) ;)

oops colour me surprised I assumed Persona 5 was early 2016

And yes I was being a bit flippant (only listing upcoming exclusives for 2015) :P

If you imply I'm doing that because I'm rich, the 3 together are considerably less than a grand. Plenty of people spend that on their car in the time since these consoles were released.

If you mean MS is buying exclusively "artificially" then fine but what you gonna do? I want to play Rise of the Tomb Raider, if it's on one machine then fine, I'll buy it on that.

Now I have both consoles, I honestly can't tell which one will become my "main", or whether I should get rid of one altogether.

Pros of PS4 as "main":

- Multiformat games often run a little better (1080p rather than 900p, better framerates etc.)

- Share button and 15-min video capture are awesome and they can be transferred to USB stick.

- I've been able to catch up on remasters of the PS3 games I never played, with the Uncharted games still to come.

Cons:

- Jet engine loudness when running games, makes me fear for overall lifespan. (Can't be arsed with the replacement procedure though)

- Uncharted collection might be the last of the exclusives I'm interested in.

Pros of Xbox One as "main":

- More upcoming exclusive games I'll be interested in, and more racers.

- It's a big bastard, but that means it's quiet and built to last.

- My Rock Band DLC is on an Xbox account, so it must be kept as my Rock Band machine if nothing else.

- 360 backwards compatibility will be a nice bonus.

Cons:

- The power brick is just annoyingly loud enough to affect sleep in my bedroom, but killing the power kills the game suspend feature (which I've come to find essential, can't believe I ever lived without it).

- Multiformat games running better on PS4 would annoy me. Must stop reading Digital Foundry I guess.

i have both machines.

the info available on the bone re: netstats and the like is amazing.

it shows that i didn't even turn it on for two whole months, by virtue of the lack of bandwidth stats.

amazon prime lovefilm thing is better on the bone though. the kinect pauses playback, if you walk out, or if someone underage walks in while watching rated content.

or refuses to play it.

I tell you what, since ordering an XB1, I'm in this thread every day checking for tidbits on windows 10 and the like. I'll not get rid of the PS4, still waiting for the likes of No Man's Sky, etc. I hardly pay attention to PS4 news though, and when I do it's like they're not even trying.

Also, the "wouldn't trust Sony with money if my life depended on it" saga continues. Was playing the Lego Harry Potter with my kids this week when we discovered Lego Movie the game for only 5 bucks. Bought, without even thinking about it, because MS seem competent enough to hold my CC details.

I think my (Second) xbox one is on its way out. Not sure. When playing certain games, there is a weird nois comes from it. It's like an electric static/clicking sound comes from below the fan (it's not the fan itself). It currently does it like mental on the menu screen of Minecraft, and all the time with Zoo Tycoon. No idea what it is :/

1080p/60fps streaming for everyone !!

New features starting to roll out today in the August update include:

*1080p/60fps Game Streaming – You can now stream games from your Xbox One to Windows 10 devices in high-res HD quality at 1080p/60fps. The new streaming capability works best for gamers who have home networks with adequate bandwidth. In the Xbox app on Windows 10, go to Settings > Game Streaming and set the video encoding level to Very High, which will then stream games from your Xbox One to your Windows 10 PC at 1080p and 60fps (frames per second).
*Right Click – You can now right-click on one of your friends and select Send Message or Invite to Party to more quickly connect with your friends.
*Notifications – Starting today, you can enable or disable notifications for when you are invited to a party or a multiplayer game via Settings > General > Party & Games Invitations.
*Recently Played – Now you will see an animated display alternately showing you how many friends have played each game along with the four most recent players. The display will then switch to show a second tile with your last played date, Gamerscore and Achievements percentage complete. If you click on the game, it will take you to the Game Hub, where you can see a list of all of your friends who have played the game sorted by most recently played along with their online status.
*Compare Achievements with a Friend – You can now compare your achievement status with one of your friends who has played the game. From a Game Hub page, select Achievements > Compare at the top right above the list of all of the achievements.
*My Games – We updated My Games to support a grid view with a jump list, where your games are now displayed in a grid sorted alphabetically. If you click on a letter, you can collapse the list and then select a specific letter of the alphabet to more quickly find a game. The list of games that are automatically discovered has been updated as well.
*Add Games – The ability to manually add games to your collection that have a link in the Start Menu by selecting My Games > Add a game from your PC has been updated with a help link to help you add games to your collection.
The team also updated the Xbox app on Windows 10 to address some issues around sign-in, localization and game streaming reported by a subset of Windows 10 users. The Xbox app on Windows 10 should automatically update to the new version when it becomes available in the Windows Store. Once you receive the update, your version number should be 8.8.6000.00000 or higher. You can verify the version number of the Xbox app on Windows 10 under Settings > General later today.
We’re thrilled at the response we’ve received from fans who are enjoying Xbox on Windows 10 and we appreciate all the feedback. Keep it coming at Xbox Feedback and, if you are a Windows Insider Preview member, with Windows Feedback.

Well, I'm in. And greeted by those magical words "This game requires an update". 4.6Gb of it. Went out while it downloaded and FH2 is so, so pretty. And by jiminy the controller is rather lovely. I'll download Storm Island overnight (can you schedule downloads?) and then I've got a week off to rinse this thing and other games.

Chances are, that bundle was sold to them from a supplier, and they have to provide it as a bundle without splitting. If they do split or swap they can loose suppliers.

Source - I know of a large-ish chain currently being investigated by centre soft for bundle splitting. They may loose their distribution rights from CS
