For people streaming to Win10 PC's it turns out there is a hidden very high setting instead of the previous max being high. You need to edit a file in notepad to enable it.

I'd imagine it's something that'll be added as a default option later since everything is still relatively new.

The very high setting is definitely alot better, much less soft than previously.

Mine is using 14-17 mbps which isn't too onerous on my network (even tho I am using 500mbps homeplugs they can handle upto about 50ish on a good day)

Controller lag? again didnt notie it much in rare replay... on forza Horizon 2 it is noticeable but I "think" it is slightly better when operating on "very high" setting

Yep, Phil Spencer is a big part of the reason I was happy to jump in this year. He has a good track record and seemed to be saying all the right things. Not only that, he is seemingly following through on things too.

Just had an email reply from Amazon (I sent them a polite complaint email this morning)...

Hello,

This is Arindum from Amazon.co.uk Customer Services.

Please accept my sincere apologies for this inconvenience with regards to the preorder for the Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller.

To make sure that this does not happen in the future, I have firstly contacted my superiors, and escalated this with the buying team, before e-mailing you, so that I receive an acknowledgement for the investigation that has now been raised.

Along with this, being an avid gamer, I do realise the situation that we have placed you in, and I would like to apologise profusely for this situation.

At this point in time, I would humbly request you to place the order once again, Sold and Fulfilled by Amazon, and reply to this e-mail with the order number, so that we can manually edit the price to reflect the one that you had originally paid, which was £75.72.

If we can help further with this or anything else, please don't hesitate to get in touch again:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/contact-us

We look forward to seeing you again soon. I also hope that this would not hamper your Amazon experience.

So £75.72 Elite controller re-instated :) Guys/Girls send them an email!

I tried on live chat and got nowhere.

Email them and point out the inconsistency in people having early orders honoured at the £75 price and make a point of saying how you'd appreciate it if Amazon treated all customers the same (really emphasize it) feel free to link to the reply I received, Also there's others who have experienced the same:

If you'd like me to PM you the original complaint letter I wrote just let me know!

Hot damn I am loving MS so much right now.

Agreed. The tide really seems to have turned for them (or is turning at least). There definitely seems to be less chat going on about 900p vs 1080p etc, and ultimately the games end up speaking for themselves anyway.

Dare I say at this rate, I could end up becoming a fanboy. And I fucking hate fanboys.

Awesome.

For anyone who doesn't want to listen to someone explain for ages how to go through the directories to find it though...

users/<name>/AppData/Local/packages/microsoft.xboxapp_<some_ID_garbage>/LocalState/userconsoledata
(they'll only be one of them microsoft.xboxapp folders, by the looks of it)
Find the bit that says
<IsInternalPreview>false
and change that to
<IsInternalPreview>true
Cool. Looking forward to testing that out.
ADDITION: there is a cool tool here http://download.cnet.com/Everything/3000-2379_4-10890746.html that you can just use to find userconsoledata ... why isn't this sort of fast search in Windows 10?

I've done it and can't see much difference from the 'high' setting - it's slightly misty.

Enjoying the streaming though. I've had a few glitchy moments but considering what it's doing I'm impressed.

The Bone is wired into the router but after that it's wifi and it's really quite good.

I have given it more of a testdrive and does feel way more solid, nowhere near as soft a picture as before... if you have the bandwidth (I'd suggest it maxes out at 20mbps) and a hardwire connection (mine is homeplug and fine not sure wifi would cut it) then go for it.

EDIT - just seen the Eurogamer Digital foundry report on the ultra high unlock. They mention that ulta high is true 1080p streaming (so presumably the High is downscaling to lower res and sending hence it being softer)... But they note frame pacing etc generally with all streaming isn't as good as native on Xbox One. I haven't noticed it much on alot of stuff but I did notice Forza Horizon(30fps) had a some minor stutter very occasionally).

You might get the revised pad with the 3.5mm jack? Other than that depending on prices you're probably better with the 500gb and strapping an external HDD on when you need it they're pretty cheap now. If you sub to EA Access you'll need that space sooner rather than later :)

To be honest, neither 1tb or 500gb are enough. With both you are going to need an external HDD. So I would say, if you can get a fantastic deal oon a 500gb with some games, do that and chuck £40 into a 2TB external.
