Xbox One Console Thread

Flight Sim is coming to the XB1? Holy crap at the turn around these last few weeks. I find myself hurriedly checking this thread and getting around to reading the PS4 thread when I have time. I'm sure we'll get "Stability improvements" as our innovative patch for August.

Are we still talking about Sonic or SeanR? :P

Found some clear pics of the Halo 5 console:

The console has custom sounds and the controller will be available to purchase separately.

Master Chef version:

There's also an official 2TB external HDD coming from Seagate called the Game Drive:

Any recommendations for external hard drive for Xbox One? A quick amazon search turned up this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-Drive/dp/B00UNA1O3Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438758087&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+one+external+hard+driveas a recommendation. I've no issue with Seagate so very tempting for the price - 2TB should tide us over for a while.

I'm guessing it would need to be a powered hard drive?

Just seen the picture above - ha! So maybe it doesn't need to have an external power source?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to he independently powered. USB 3.0 is fine.

As soon as I can spare the money I'm getting a 5TB beast.

Also, that Master Chief pad

It doesn't have to be independently powered - I use a Toshiba 2TB with no problems.

Pretty essential purchase these days with all the FTP / Games with gold / BC codes being given away at present, all of which you "might as well" obtain.

I don't know how we managed before with just 10G. (well I do, it was install, play, keep or trade, wipe, rinse and repeat strictly one main game at a time).

2.5" 'portable' drives don't need an external PSU.. usually run at 5400 rpm and only go up to 2TB currently..

3.5" 'desktop' drives go up to 5 or 6TB now and are usually 7500rpm.. but will usually need a PSU..

I got one of these the other day for £54 because the blue one was on offer and it was they day when Amazon had the £10 off a £50 spend offer.

I'd decide what you're after and what you want to spend then keep an eye on hotukdeals as there are hard drive offers on there most days. Just make sure it's USB 3.0

I'm thinking of upgrading my PS4 HD to a 2TB. Would there be anything stopping me from getting a caddy for the old 500gb hard drive I remove and hooking it up via usb to the Bone, to up my Bone's capacity to 1TB?

I did exactly that. Got one of those cheap 2TB seagates from Argos. Stuffed the 2TB drive in the PS4 and put the old 500 back in the caddy where it's now connected to my Xbox

How can I tell if a drive is USB 3 again?

I'm sure there's a simple method, but I'm buggered if I know. All USB cables look the same to me.
