That's a fair point. As an aside, what's this new controller that package mentions, is it important? And if you pre-order from the MS site, do they take the money immediately or in september when this thing is released?

Though just to clarify, the old pad does of course have a headset socket, the new (well, now current I suppose) one is now a standard 3.5mm jack is all.

Microsoft are being fucked in the ass by a console with no games until 2017. The next 12 months are going to see Xbox marketing everywhere shoving their exclusives down your throat. There will be blood (discounts).

It'll be interesting to see what they do, I would have thought MCC and GOW bundled with your choice of Tomb Raider, Forza or Halo 5 would be a good value proposition for Microsoft and the consumer.

To clarify further, the new pad has both interfaces, the X1 original pad connection AND a 3.5mm jack.

The new headset has inline volume control, yuck.

yeah see, that I'm less on board with. Especially as I don't have a separate TV box. Might have to pick up the TV tuner if they introduce recording.

It would be nice if they introduced that, more countries have a variant of it now so hopefully we will see something like that. You can pause live tv with it currently

So, the Forza 6 bundle with the nice blue looking XB1 and a 1TB hdd. It's $399, is that probably on par with the kind of bundle we'd like see in autumn? Think someone here said to wait until autumn.

Note: my wife likes the particular shade of blue. I think that's a consideration.

:) You'll get some great bundles this winter if you cant wait... However personally happy to be playing now.... although been mostly watching Game Of Thones on Blu-Ray on my One over the past couple of weeks :-\

Lovely media machine and soooooo quiet. XBox pause... Loving kinect too....

The more I use the One the more I like it.... I actually think the emphasis MS has placed on it being an "all in one device" is actually a good fit for me as I am predominately using it for blu-ray, netflix, viewing my onedrive content and games. Handily it has the exclusives I'm looking forward to coming to it too. Oh and Live is still such a great service - even better now we have free games too. The thought that it is an "insuperior" gaming machine to the other one hasn't really crossed my mind. Quite the opposite in fact....

I think I'm pretty much in, at some point. I'll wait for the potential fire sales though, as I have a bit of a PS4 backlog right now anyway. I'm sure MS will get the money back eventually with all of my daft impulse purchases.

Sorry for all of the questions:

-If I sub to gold now, can I "buy" the XB1 titles through my 360 (or a web site) so that I can start building my collection now?

-Is there a good place (US) to buy Gold on the cheap? The official prices are a bit steep.

-I have cable TV that basically shows local network channels only (yank equivalent of Freeview I guess, except I pay for it), would that work with the TV tuner? My TV has a digital cable decoder, so I wire the coax straight to that. I suppose I could ping the cable company and get a box if the only means of controlling cable TV would be via the HDMI input.

You can "buy" the XB1 titles through a browser on pc etc... not sure about on 360.

the US price is only about $40... UK you can get it for £21 on cdkeys so not sure how much cheaper you will get.

and no idea on the tv stuff

but I assumed as he was asking for a good place (US) to buy xbox live gold that the XBox live Gold cards were region locked so if you bought a UK one it wouldn't add to a US account.

The "credit" codes only add US dollars to your US part of account and UK pounds to the UK part of your account.

Aaaaanyway if xbox live membership codes are "region free" then yes definitely buy from cdkeys £21

Yep, most pointless "remaster" ever and a cheap cash grab by Activision. I vaguely remember playing the first but never completed it and never bothered with the sequel. Not a terrible game from what I played, just massively mediocre.

The quality of the new Bone port notwithstanding, Prototype 2 is some of the best fun I've had in games. The story and character are dreadful, but as a sandbox to just have fun and smash shit up, it's fantastic. A really tight, focussed fun box that puts the Ubisoft style of world to shame.

For those 'interested' in getting a Bone, I'd personally wait for a console redesign. It's the fattest, dullest black box imaginable that eats all the room.

ALL the room.

I have it up vertically as I have no disc games to be worried about, yet.
