Xbox One Console Thread

Backwards compatibility was the thing that swayed me. That, combined with the fact that my 360 sounds like a Harrier Jump Jet and the DVD tray motor is broken, meaning I have to use a plastic fork prong to release the catch and pull the tray open.

Got it with:

Masterchef Collection (Torode Edition)

State of Decay

Ori

Forza Horizon 2

... and a few GwG games:

AC:IV

Crimson Dragon (I won't be playing that!)

Max & The Curse of Brotherhood

And EA Access this weekend, I suppose ;)

Yeah like the fact MS are at least having a go at BC! Have lots of arcade games on my 360 LIve account I wouldn't mind to continue to play. However not holding my breath for some of them. Hopefully they are looking at eventually moving all the games over and running them on some sort of VM... although not sure if the XBO is powerful enough to run a 360 VM... would be quite a feat of coding that!

So long as they move over Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga I'll be happy... :) Oh and PGR4 would be a bonus too... Although FH2 is doing a great job of rapidly becoming my favourite "arcade racer with a touch of realism" of all time.

Not ever getting rid of the XBO again. Don't realise how good something is until its gone.... :D Yes FH2 is that good as is the XBO. Really missed it.

The Xbox One is actually running the Xbox 360 OS.

Ah I see. So using Direct X calls to the internals of the XBO. Makes sense. :)

Just hooked in a 1TB external drive that I had spare to the XBO. I now have 1.5TB of storage. Nice... :D

I can't wait for Gamescon. Specifically Quantum Break, but they've got so much good stuff to show it's going to easily be as good as their E3 showing.

When is it again?

Thanks to EW it is now known that Microsoft will debut two new items for San Diego Comic-Con attendees – a Battletoads vinyl soundtrack with Con-exclusive artwork, and a Rare 30th anniversary print from iam8bit.

The Battletoads vinyl, which will be available to the public later with different art, collects David Wise’s soundtrack for the game with art by Nick Gazin. Gazin has previously designed art for Run the Jewels album covers. The 180-gram vinyl has an exclusive gatefold and jacket. 300 will be available at the show for $25 each.
Additionally, a limited edition print will be available at the show, featuring all 30 games in the Rare Replay collection. Measuring 18 x 24 inches, the print will be hand-signed and numbed, with a run of 400 for the show. Each will cost $50. iam8bit will announce whether an extended run of the print will be sold to the public.

They really seem to be pushing Battletoads at the moment, What's the odds on a new game reveal at Gamescom?

So Crackdown, Quantum Break, etc, are being shown at the Xbox conference at Gamescom on Tuesday 4th August at 3pm BST.

My question is...How do I get access? I am going to GDC Europe and Gamescom and would love to be able to get to the conference. Anyone been to similar things before? Is it just a matter of queuing up at the venue? Or is it invite only? Any help greatly appreciated! KTHNXBYE :)

I can’t even imagine the thought process that led to someone deciding to release the soundtrack to Battletoads on 12”. It’s like releasing footage of the game on 35mm film.

Gamescom is a consumer show...I have access to that. I'm talking about access to the Xbox conference.

Keep an eye on Major Nelson's blog and Twitter in the run up - there could be a similar arrangement to the E3 one whereby 500 fans were invited along after queuing up at the local Microsoft store a couple of days beforehand.

I've just re-bought a 360,

I know it's an arse about face way of doing things but I couldn't pass this up. Somebody on one of these selling pages on Facebook was selling a 360 slim 250gb with 23 games and 2 controllers.......£40,

Now the main reason behind this was the games that came with the console, every 360 released COD, Mass Effect 1-3, Bioshock 1-3, Red Dead, GTA 4&5, L4D 1&2 and a few other classics. I thought to myself even if I don't play a lot of them right now I'm sure most of them are backwards compatable bound and when that happens I'll donate the console to my Daughter and have a large back catalogue of games to work my way through :)

Having played a bit of Meat Boy yesterday (no problems but my save wasn't in the cloud, because no Gold I guess) I got to notice just how different the Xbone controller feels for this sort of twitch game. Can't say good or bad yet, I think we're all in agreement the bumpers are worse, but it's interesting how something as simple as a stick can feel your playing the game anew compared to what you used for nearly 10 years I guess.

The bumpers have been improved on the 'new' pad. The original pad is end of life, but obviously there'll still be some stock around for now.

And then there's the Elite pad obviously, but that's something else entirely.

Any reviews?

Is my Day One Edition pad losing value?!

Ok, this is bugging me; Installed MCC on my UK Xbox One, but then today I decided to add a US address etc so I could buy stuff on the US store. All worked fine etc, no problems and bought Ori from the US store using codes from Amazon.com. Ace.

Now when I look at my installed games however, MCC is sitting there installed and playable, and yet is also available to install. Errr....what? Is this because of setting my Xbox to US, or something else?
