Xbox One Console Thread

My Kinect is purely used for voice commands, especially good old "record that".

Its so slow in signing me in these days that I find myself manually doing it everytime. It never used to be that bad though so I don't know what's happened to slow it down so much.

Didn't MS re-jig the OS at some point to allocate more processing power to developers (and take away some from Kinect?). Not sure never had a XBox One with a Kinect.

Aye the Bone deals barely raise an eyebrow but on 360 ....

Kane & Lynch 2 £4 - Short but nasty in a good way one of my favourite games.

Battlestations Midway £4

Battlestations Pacific £4 never played these but always fancied them

Mass Effect £3 - Bone BC too

Dragon Age Origins £3.74 Never played it

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood £4

Assassin's Creed Revelations £4 - Ezio !

Fable Trilogy - with Fable one remastered - £11.24 Less than £4 a game, a 360 swansong and a classic game x2 + Fable 3 I've never played any of them either

With BC a few months away and MS games sure to be first in line I can justify Fable, Mass Effect for discless play, Assassin's Creed's as I've already got AC2 via GWG and it's nice to have the Best character's trilogy, K+L because there's unlikely to be anything as ugly and big budget to ever see a release again, Dragon's Age due to it's classic status.

Ok chaps,

because I've got some expiring USA credit (it's promotional stuff so isn't standard) I've got to spend $50usd by Friday on something. I've got $70 in my account.

What shall I spend it on? Shall I preorder Fallout 4 or something else? I was hoping for something exciting in the sale but nothing much I'd like has appeared.

What's the current recommendation for an external HDD. Also in general are people getting externally powered ones?

I'm using a WD My Passport 1TB drive which seems faster for installing games than the Xbox One HDD. It's not externally powered (just plugs it to the Xbones rear USB port), but it works really well. Cost £80 in John Lewis but you can buy on Amazon now for about £65. Well worth it, IMO.

You preordered Halo5? Tomb Raider? Rainbow Six?

I know nobody cares but I think I'm going to spend my expiring credit thus:

Elite Dangerous ($31)

Ori ($15)

Extra Cheap Game.

I'm most tempted by Lara Croft but I could go for Geometry Wars, Ass Creed China or Slender The Arrival. Or White Night, Or Goat Simulator.

Has anyone played any of the latter selection? Any good?

Lara Croft is more of the same in a Guardian of Light style - I'm quite enjoying it as a couch co-op game with the kids, but very much dependent on how you felt about the previous one. Personally not mad keen on Geometry Wars. It's lost the simplicity of the first games and the new tweaks don't really add enough to compensate. Goat Sim is... weird. It's a lot of fun randomly stumbling across the various secrets, and playing with the crazy exaggerated physics, but as a 'game' - it's a bit light.

I bought £50 of Microsoft credit for £41.79 from CDkeys, and my Xbox One is currently installing Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (£26.99 in the sale).

Looks like I'll be setting up my 360 in the morning to enable cloud saves on my digital version of Borderlands 2, and might as well do my other games while I'm at it.

Lara, GW3 or Assassins Creed - Slender and Goat are pretty poor.

Assassins Credd China was not half bad, I paid full price for it and wasn't disappointed, much more stealth than the previous two AC games I've played.

Just picked that up - $5 is ridiculously cheap.

In case anybody missed that last 12 month gold deal here's a place doing them for just under £22:

Backwards compatibility was the thing that swayed me. That, combined with the fact that my 360 sounds like a Harrier Jump Jet and the DVD tray motor is broken, meaning I have to use a plastic fork prong to release the catch and pull the tray open.

Got it with:

Masterchef Collection (Torode Edition)

State of Decay

Ori

Forza Horizon 2

... and a few GwG games:

AC:IV

Crimson Dragon (I won't be playing that!)

Max & The Curse of Brotherhood

And EA Access this weekend, I suppose ;)
