I still have credit left from the MS points conversion which expires this week, was hoping for decent sale items :-(

Do you have Ori? If not, get Ori

I like Bloodborne as much as the next guy, unless that guy is Mike S obviously. However to claim that it is better than both Witcher 3 and the greatest racing game of all time, rllmuk's very own GOTY 2014 Mario Kart 8 is nuts and said by someone who clearly has something wrong with them, which they do because they bought a PS4.

Which reminds me I really need to get back and beat BSB to make some progress.

BSB is mighty early in the game to have a definitive view on the game's quality versus those other two. Unless you are on NG+ of course...

I hope that's not the only difference between it and the current pad. I want to see the "pro gamer controller" that's been mooted.

Also, I like the adapter block. If this becomes standard, I hope there'll be a headset adapter adapter coming.

I like th headset adapter too. Being able to mix the volume from game audio with chat is great!

I'm not sure I understand this, not having a Bone. Does the current headset thing have like a hardware slider to mix in-game and chat? I'd imagine if they changed it for a 3.5mm connector, they'd just put that in software? It's how the PS4 does it - you hold down the PS button and there's audio options and a few sliders.

Mind you, I guess it's a bit of a faff, with a few too many button pushes. The full headphones I have have separate controls for overall volume and for in-game/chat mix.

There's game audio and a chat audio buttons that allow you to adjust them yeah. Could probably quite easily be done via software but having the buttons right there for that is nice. Cheers for the headsup on the PS4, might try that. My headphones have the separate controls too but they're on the cups and I can't be arsed dicking about with them.

Played some Beach Buggy Racing this morning and it isn't very good. It's a perfectly serviceable game but it just isn't very exciting and the handling isn't exactly Bloodborne. Still it only costs £6 for gold members so if you're really desperate to play something and don't have a Wii U then I guess it is worth a little bit of your time.

I'm thinking about getting myself an Xbox One through the NHS salary sacrifice scheme. Just debating if it's a good deal, so thought I'd run it past you lot, then ask a few questions.

The deal is £16.25 gross / £12.58 net over two years, so the total paid over the term is £301 for the solus, 500 gb (are there other versions?) version. How does that hold up to rrp?

What's the deal with the battery / batteries in the controller? Is it PS3 style in built, needs charging style? Or, as with.360, can I use my Eneloops?

I've never had a Live account because I don't play games online, will I miss a lot by not having one? I'm assuming I can still get dlc? Take into account that I will be buying it almost exclusively for Forza (Motorsport and Horizon) and Mortal Kombat, for now, at least. How much is Live, anyway?

Live was going for £20 the other day. You don't need gold but you definitely want it connected to the Internet at least. If it's a case of wanting to pay it off then is there not a better way using a credit card or something so you could buy 2nd hand and get it cheaper?

The controllers use batteries or a play and charge kit if you buy one. Your eneloops will work fine.

The reason I'm looking at the salary sacrifice is the psychological thing of it coming out my wages, without me ever seeing it. And it means I don't pay tax on it either, which is another bonus.

I actually don't know how much one would cost if I bought one elsewhere. Tesco seem to do them for £300 with Forza Horizon 2, but I don't know if that's a good deal either...

I also bought a Wii U and an Xbox One at their respective launches too.

I do not find MK8 much fun as it makes me angry more than it makes me smile and simply don't like Witcher 3 because, to me, it is really fucking boring.

Sorry.

There seem to be lots of short term offers around, where you can get the machine and a game for £280 (one just finished at Amazon which included several new release titles to choose from, and about three weeks ago I really lucked out at Tesco with the console, Forza Horizon 2, COD: AW and three months of live for £279), so if you're not in a desperate hurry came can afford the lump sum you should be able to do a bit better than the current prices as long as you keep checking regularly.

You can use AA batteries, the official play and charge kit, or third party battery kit of your choice for the controller.

Get one, and get Xbox Live (you can get it for £20 per year which is a great deal). As well as a great online community, you Get Games With Gold, which is a free game (though it's been two lately) per month, yours to keep forever. There have been some gems lately, such as Rayman Legends.

Um, yeah. Not sure about your deal, but get one. There is so much must play content.

You can get a 500GB console, controller, and one new game for £279 routinely now.

You'd think they would use the low-level console specific API available instead of relying on the DX one for the X1 anyway if they were concerned with squeezing out the maximum performance, it's what you have to resort to on the PS4, but they clearly don't for whatever reason.

Consoles have never suffered from the DX problem natively if you used low-level programming, PC programmers have been complaining about the fact for years.
