Xbox One Console Thread

I desperately need some time on my Xbox one. It's sitting there, gathering dust and unloved and wandering dangerously close to 'why did I buy this?' territory. Not because it's a bad console, because it's a lovely bit of kit. Not because there are no games - I already have a pile of shame for it of some top notch titles. It's mostly because I hardly get any time for gaming, even less of that for console gaming and my ps4 gets all the attention - but not as a games machine, rather as a bloody fancy Netflix machine. This is unfair on my Xbox, like buying a second dog and then basically ignoring it. It deserves a better home.

mine's not even "hooked up to the mains", for want of a better phrase than "not plugged in".

That's crazy! The Bone is a way better Netflix machine than the PS4

For me it's the other way around. The ps4 currently has nothing on it I'm interested in and I much prefer the social aspects of xbox live. The exclusives like Ori and the blind forest and having just picked up sunset over drive just mean it's my main machine whilst the ps4 hasn't been turned on since I got it a few months ago.

How so? I have both, and generally prefer the Bone, but the black crush/dodgy gamma curve of the Bone means I pretty much exclusively use my PS4 for Netflix. Not trolling, genuinely curious if I'm missing something?

My wiiU and PS4 both feel like a complete waste I'm just not sure it's worth selling them now as inevitably as soon as I do something will pop up that I want. I wish they'd stick the sky player on the xbox one that's the only thing missing for me now.

It's habit more than anything. It's mostly my wife using it as a Netflix machine, either for herself or our son, and she knows how to use the ps4 to get Netflix, get unblock us and change region etc, but not the Xbox. I didn't know there were any differences between the quality of the app on console.

I was curious too. Is it just the voice control stuff?

I did have some trouble with Netflix buffering slowly on the PS4 when it launched but it seems fine now.

My console is like that. After Halo flopped, I didn't really bother with it. I've had sessions with my brother on The Crew and now FIFA is on EA Access, I have played that online with him, but I rarely play the console solo now. I still have Sunset Overdrive sealed, alibet it chewed by the dog. I don't get much time and when I do, the PS4 gets the attention. Plus I moved my PS4 into the bedroom for peace and quiet away from the dog. If I sit down with Xbox I end up with him tugging the end of my wire.

I can reccomend the Sunset season pass, you get 2 whole new areas in it and some crappy weapon pack I've not bothered looking at.

mooil Rig was fun and the Fizz Co. Factory is great.

Negged for not opening Sunset, you are missing out on a great game.

the_buddha_of_gaming is the worst kind of butt-hurt boner fanboy. Even when I post-positive, saying the bone implementation of amazon prime lovefilm is best, for example, he still negs.

At first I didn't get an Xbox one because of boozy, now I'm mot turning it on because of TBOG. Because any time I post about it, I know what to expect. Good going there...

Yep, me too. I had my ps4 packed away in the loft until I got borderlands handsome collection for the vita cross play on BL2.

Is anybody Planning to get Witcher 3 on the bone? I asked in the main thread and it seemed nobody was

Yes. Should have it tomorrow all being well. XBO is the lead console promotionally even if not technically on this e.g the mega-statue-including version has extra content.

However performance compares to the PS4 it will be a million times better than Witcher 1 on my 2004 PC. The last act was like

wad in g th rou gh tr eac le.

My Witcher 3 has been sat pre loaded since the day Project Carse was released. Still a tad unsure about performance. Will the dynamic resolution help, the day one patch or is the frame rate as "horrendous" and "terrible" as Gaf's legion of experts have already decided, based on twitch & YouTube previews ?

Game looks fantastic in terms of scope, depth and content ( & bewbs & gore)

edit:

This guy has analysed the Bone version after 2 hours of play and reached some digital foundry style conclusions regarding res/framerate. some will see it as negatives some positive. Me I think it looks fucking amazebaws.
