Yes, 2.5" portables are just laptop drives in a case, they *should* survive with just USB bus power (although some of them are on the limit and some USB ports aren't).

A 3.5" portable is a desktop grade drive, it'll be quicker if the interface can take it, higher capacity should be cheaper but it will certainly need proper power.

edit- This will only work for new customers to very.co.uk

Anyone fancy a £50 Xbox Store card for £25?

Go to Groupon and buy this voucher for very.co.uk (£50 purchase for £25)

http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/premium/very-co-uk/56836463

A couple of things, When you checkout don't sign up for the very.co.uk account just choose the lower option for pay immediately via credit/debit card.

There's two options:

1. free delivery to a local store that's part of collect+ (lots and lots) so the £50 card will be £25 exactly
2. have it delivered for £3.95 so the total is £28.95

The way very process vouchers is they charge the full amount but credit it back to the card after.

I've just tried the above and and can confirm it works and took the £50 off the total at checkout and accepted the order.

It's one voucher per account only.

Word of warning, either the website is broken or they've taken this option away. All I get at the checkout page is the option to pay via new card or register account. Clicking continue with the pay by card option highlighted just leads to a frustrating loop with a red bar appearing at the top of the site.

If anyone has a very account and wants to buy my voucher just send me a PM. I don't think the last 10 minutes of frustration were worth saving £25

I had this, it worked when I elected to pay for delivery.

Book me in for Monday :)

I'm home all day and evening, drop me a PM when you're about and I'll get some practice in the mean time, been mainly playing Tetris on it and avoiding Puyo as I suck at it :P

Can stream in the day as well, as it won't ruin my upload cap ( thank Virgin Media!)

Technically it's compressed but compressed in a way that it can be reconstructed entirely as before ("non-lossy").

Zips/Rars etc are non-lossy. They'd be useless if they weren't.

Jpeg/Mp3/AAC/Most video you've seen on a computer are all lossy.

I imagine the screenshot function will help shift perception of Xbox One as not being particularly capable. I'm sure a lot of people will be surprised by these in game shots. Good on Microsoft for making them uncompressed (as I understand it) to really show things as they are.

Or not.. There are already people on other forums convinced that the screengrabs are 'enhanced' by the machine as it takes them (ignoring the fact that an OS function can't possibly interact with the rendering engine of whatever individual game might happen be running at the time and poke around with the settings to output it at a full 1080p/add anti-aliasing etc..) Because stuff like Sunset, Ryse and Unity are 900p games and therefore hugely blurry and can't possibly look that good!

My gold membership ran out today. I did look at signing back up but it just feels a bit pointless, I'm just not using it.

Mine ran out the other day and I felt the same as spend most of my time on gta online on ps4, but then got a message this morning that I got a months free gold for the halo mess up. May as well use it I guess :)

Just shows how big a deal 1080p (the numbers and letter) are in people's minds.
