In a De Militarised Zone?

Only using my XBO for live TV sport at present whilst kicking the booze but will be back shooting aliens etc soon enough.

its router speak for placing an ip/machine in an area where the router firewall does not apply.

Obviously bad idea to put a PC in that zone but a console is safe there and it leaves all ports open etc.

not sure why it should be "moderate" mine is open ... It cant be moderate as in the DMZ it is 100% open to internet etc... odd?

How to do it depends on your router. Somewhere in the "advanced" or "port forwarding" menu structure you should see an option for DMZ (mine is a dlink and its in ADVANCED, DMZ &Firewall and option is DMZ HOST).... This should lead to a screen that allows to type in 1 ip address choose one from your usual range but high up so it isn't accidentally used.. I use 192.168.2.120 (my range is 192.168.2.1 to 255).

Once done boot Xbox One and go to configure network and choose "manual" settings instead of the usual automatic and when prompted for ip put in the ip you chose above. The rest of it should be easy to set (ip of router as host, 255.255.255.0 for mask etc).

and that should be it.

I tried putting my XB1 in the DMZ but it still showed a moderate NAT - it was the port forwarding that has fully fixed it. That's with a wired connection.

Assuming you rebooted both the router and the Xbox after making the change it's probably the router being silly.

I use a dedicated router, and have my Virgin "superhub" in modem-only mode because router mode is anything but super.

Any tips on how to put it in a DMZ? Then I promise I'll sod off.

Try this site, and select your router make and model. It'll give you step-by-step instructions on how to forward ports for the Xbox One.

http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Xbox_One/

If you use another guide make sure it's for the Xbox One; Xbox 360 uses slightly different ports.

Do you have a 360 connected to your homehub as well? I have had a mare of a time trying to keep NAT open on my Xbox One, all because I have my 360 connected to it as well. Seems to be a common problem and I haven't found a solution that works for me yet. I periodically have to keep doing that 'hold the triggers and bumpers' while doing the connection test.

360 is wireless. I read something about how even with a wired connection xb1 will maintain the wireless connection too. Somebody reported that unplugging the wire then disconnecting wireless before reconnecting the wire can help. I did it just to be sure and right enough it was running a wifi connection.

So I just had a great experience with MS customer service.

We bought COD: AW Season Pass on one account with the intention of playing it on other accounts too since for the most part games and DLC are shareable. However, I notice that the AE4 guns are still locked on non season pass accounts. I talk to Activision support who say they're still finalising how sharing will work with non season pass accounts. Maps will deffo be shared, early access to guns won't, new weapons that come with the DLC will probably be shared (I think the support guy didn't know, I assume they would be shared). Anyway, I thought I'd wait until closer to the DLC release date before purchasing as hopefully Activision might have some more info on the sharing policy by then.

Logged on with MS Support, explained why I wanted a refund (Activision not clear yet on how sharing will work) and I got refunded straight away. No quibble. THAT is how you do customer service!

A follow on from this. Saw the refund logged on my live account transaction history but didn't appear in my paypal account. Rang them up yesterday and told them I hadn't seen the refund appear, even though I now wanted the season pass. Had a nice chat with man on the phone about what games he was currently into and how he was thinking of getting a WiiU next and he said he'd sort out the refund (appeared on my paypal a couple of hours later) and that my season pass wouldn't be revoked. So.....I've ended up getting the season pass for free. Said he'd ring back today in the evening to make sure the refund appeared.

I had exactly the same when I bought a game from the arcade on 360. It went on sale the next day so I called up to see if I could get the difference refunded and instead they refunded the full amount and let me keep the licence. This was 2 years ago so wasn't in response to the awful reception of the One either. It just seems that their reps are allowed to give outstanding service.
