Xbox One Console Thread

A mate of mine has bought a XB1 for his son and was mentioning this morning that over the weekend he had it crash 3-4 times on him, required just a push of the on button to get going again but was still annoying for him. He also mentioned that a couple of times the disc drive would start to spin up really fast and really loud, what seemed strange was that he said his kid was playing a digital download of FIFA at the time . I dont own a XB1 but generally skim this thread and recall others mentioning similar things happening. Is this something he should be keeping an eye on and is it symptoms of a bigger problem to come for him? Worth possibly him returning the machine?

The disc spins up when I turn my machine on or when I go to my games and apps. It's pretty loud and goes for about 15 minutes. I've had a dashboard crash before but so many times over a weekend is pretty excessive. As you say, I'd keep an eye on it and if the crashing keeps happening I'd take action but I wouldn't say it's definitely indicative of anything big.

“Just as Ford has pushed the boundaries of car technology in GT, Forza Motorsport 6 will embrace that spirit of innovation as our most technically advanced racing simulation to date, offering a fun and realistic automotive experience for both car lovers and gamers,” said Dan Greenawalt, creative director at Turn 10 Studios. “We’re excited to unveil gameplay at E3 in June.”

An interview with Ken Lobb. Talks about lots of games including Scalebound, Phantom Dust and some Rare info. Well worth a listen...

"Will there ever be another Banjo, Viva, Blast Corps, Battletoads? Yeah, someday," he said, speaking on the Inner Circle podcast. "We know there's value. We have a lot of passion internally for each of the games. And we have surprises in store in the near and long future."

:omg: :omg: :omg:

E3 is going to be mental. All aboard!

New dashboard update 1502 available for preview members !

It’s now time to get the Preview train rolling again! Starting today, all Preview users can download the initial update preview for the February (1502) update. This update comes bearing some cool new features, including the below:

Game hubs – Game hubs are the go-to centers for all sorts of interesting content around your favorite games. Every Xbox One game will have a game hub where you can see which of your friends are playing the game, compete with your friends in game leaderboards, dive into the coolest game clips and game broadcasts, and follow the game’s VIPs and top players ◾To get to the game hub for your favorite game, find a game in your pins, recently played list, or My games and apps, then press the Menu button and select View game hub.
Custom backgrounds and tile transparency – We listened to your feedback and added additional tile transparency to the Home tiles to make your background images more visible. As a reminder, to set a custom background, go to Settings > My Xbox > My background. Note: some items can’t be made transparent due to usage rights/restrictions for certain images.
TV updates – We’re releasing a lot of updates to the live TV experience and features are being released to additional countries in preview this month: ◾OneGuide for the Netherlands– Support for OneGuide will continue in preview for the Netherlands, the missing channels for the Netherlands OneGuide listings will become available over the next few weeks.
TV trending in OneGuide – As you scan the detailed OneGuide TV listings, you can see which shows are trending by a “Trending on Xbox” note and associated icon. Xbox – live TV trending is based on the number of Xbox One owners currently watching that show in each country, pulled from anonymous data collected at a national level. Currently, Xbox TV trending is available to all members in US, UK and Canada.
Live TV trending (new countries) – France, Germany, Brazil and Mexico will begin seeing live TV trending data in Xbox OneGuide.
Improved control of TVs, set-top boxes and audio/video receivers – This month’s preview release contains updates to the IR blasting database for new models and addresses issues reported by our fan community.
“Trick play” with Xbox One Digital TV Tuner – Preview members with the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner in supported countries (UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) will now be able to see video frames when fast-forwarding or rewinding paused TV on your Xbox One consoles.
Live TV streaming on Windows Phone and Android – We are continuing the preview of live TV streaming on Windows Phone and Android devices for Xbox One Digital TV Tuner owners in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
As always, please check the “Current Version” widget on the main forums page for the OS Version number that is current. Don’t forget to check the Preview Dashboard app for Quests and Surveys that you can take to increase your Preview Points, and start climbing those leaderboards! More will be added throughout the wave, so check back often!
Thanks for your participation in the Xbox Preview Program, and thanks for your feedback!

Just did the update and it seems to have lost me my pins.... Has anybody else had this? A quick google shows some people have had this problem a while ago, but they lost their store tabs content too - my store and the content is still there. A hard reset doesn't work.

Any chance someone could send me an invite to the preview program if possible? GT is "Drew Thomson".

Thanks!

Will do when I'm next on.

This new update seems to have improved the achievement app somewhat by making the achievement tiles smaller meaning you get more on screen. Still find the app a bit of a faf though.

Don't tell us, tell Microsoft - that's the whole point of the beta program.

Interesting stuff happening on Neo Gaf. Major Nelson has tweeted at and replied to another account which had an partial image and account name of "Be ready" with "coming soon" in the bio. Internet detectives got to work running the image through google image search and it came back with a fan art picture of a Dark Souls character called Artorias. Now many are speculating that Dark Souls 3 will be announced as xbone/PC exclusive at the upcoming win10 event. I'd love to see the meltdown if this was true.
