3.5" needs an external power supply. 2.5" will work without an external power supply and just the 3.0 usb cable.

2.5 2tb: Recommended by Yoshimax

Noticed Currys/PCWorld are having a sale on at the moment. Maybe worth a look if you want a drive right now...

No idea what they do now but they sent me a machine and I sent mine back in the box it came in. It wasn't a swap at the door, I had to take it to a UPS collection point within a few weeks. They put a payment on my card (but didn't take it) to ensure honesty.

Well, got to send mine back for repair after all. Seems they don't do the advance replacement with any limited edition consoles. Only applkes to black ones, which I guess makes some kind of sense.

Think about how much you want to trust this though?

If it's "Recertified" and "As new", why is the warranty half that on a real new one?

Haven't given it much thought

1) had a few portable drives and never had a fail

2) if it did go to crap all I'd lose is game installs which I could redownload, the game saves would be in the cloud

So yep buyer beware as with all refurb goods

Yep, Same advice I'd always give... Never store anything you don't want to lose in a single location. Important stuff is on hd also different hd in different physical location plus a cloud backup.

Anything I can replace/redownload I don't bother backing it up...

Yeah, my important stuff is on my PC in dropbox. Dropbox is backed up to a NAS which also has my music and email backed up to it.

All these items are further backed up weekly to 2 hard drives. One of which is here, one at work, rotated weekly.

I think I'm covered.

My mother's photos go straight into a shared dropbox on her computer as soon as she plugs camera or phone in, then also go all round this loop.

Paranoia is no bad thing :D Especially as it was one of these external hard drives that died recently.

It certainly confirms that Microsoft are making it up as they go along. The rumoured revamp of the OS is likely to cement that opinion.

I've changed to a white Xbone and am very impressed with how it synced my saves across from my old machine. I didn't have to do any uploading or anything at all. It just does it automatically.

A mate of mine has bought a XB1 for his son and was mentioning this morning that over the weekend he had it crash 3-4 times on him, required just a push of the on button to get going again but was still annoying for him. He also mentioned that a couple of times the disc drive would start to spin up really fast and really loud, what seemed strange was that he said his kid was playing a digital download of FIFA at the time .

I dont own a XB1 but generally skim this thread and recall others mentioning similar things happening. Is this something he should be keeping an eye on and is it symptoms of a bigger problem to come for him? Worth possibly him returning the machine?

Sorry for the messed up post, bloody phone.

Thanks for the advice, have told him and hrs going to keep an eye on it, was bought from amazon so shouldn't be too bad to get a replacement. Personally I would be sending it back straight away but his choice.

An interview with Ken Lobb. Talks about lots of games including Scalebound, Phantom Dust and some Rare info. Well worth a listen...

Hugely interesting. I had no idea that Phantom Dust was a collectible card JRPG with PvP battle arena for one thing. And Scalebound not being Monster Hunter is good news in my book.
