Every Platinum game so far has been a Day 1'er for me. I don't know how they do it but damn.

Now if they can just get their sales up... :(

Definitely. It's a shame that Nintendo didn't do them any favours in that regard by shunning the game at the conference for the sake of showing Arkham City and Sing. That kind of high-profile exposure would have been great for a niche game like this.

True, but E3 is an American show, and American tastes are somewhat different when it comes to videogames.

It looks like that space invaders game. The one on Wiiware. I don't know what Platinum is. I hear they're great and I loved Viewtiful Joe. But, you know, if this game didn't haven't Platinum as the developers then none of you would give a fuck about it. You know? So to suggest they should have bigged it up more is stupid.

It's like when every Treasure game used to get hyped to fuck.

This game might be great to say it definitely is from the videos is stoopid.

Well of course we're a bit more hyped for this as there's a strong pedigree behind Platinum. They'll put their secret sauce in and make any genre a stand-out title.

obviously. My point was the video - without knowing anything about Platinum - looks like a bit of a mess. Not stylistically impressive (looks like that space invaders game) and it also looks a bit wtf is going on? So I can understand why Nintendo didn't push it to the forefront on their presentation. Let's not forget if there's a developer better than Platinum then it's Nintendo - and some of there offerings didn't even go down well.

I don't know what Platinum is.

When someone bitches about how videogames are not as good as they used to be in reply they get the usual remarks of getting older and growing out of videogames, if you were a kid you would have loved COD etc. I tell you what if i had COD and the many testosterone shoot things in face games we have today as a kid i would have loathed them and would have spent my childhood years doing something productive instead like homework. This game reminds me of why i loved videogames in the first place, its bright and colourful, it has imagination and creativity and most of all its batshit mental!

With this and Rayman legends the WiiU may be a day one purchase for me

I skipped watching the official trailer for this, but I assume so did everybody else, it must be the explanation for why nobody has mentioned the fact this game looks like it has:

4 Player Co-Op!!!

Starting at about 1min 20sec into the trailer, it switches to showing it, no idea how they are planning to implement the controls for that, but it looks super hectic.

Seems like the similarities with Viewtiful Joe are no coincidence. The poor man simple wants to make a Viewtiful Joe sequel - if publishers only let him:

In Famitsu this week, Kamiya reveals his preference. He tells the magazine that if he were given the chance to make any sequel, he'd like to do a sequel to [Viewtiful] Joe.

Damn you publishers! Let the man make his sequel

The Last of Us aside, I wouldn't mind it one bit if I could only play this, Metal Gear Rising and Bayonetta II next year. The style of this is fantastic, but the gameplay looks tremendous 2. And of course your style is rated, it wouldn't be a Kamiya game otherwise. :)

Kamiya knows his priorities, though he obviously didn't get the Capcom memo about eye strain :P

Someone from NeoGAF posted his impressions of the playable demo, Kamiya's unbroken streak looks assured:

Played the game just yesterday and I want to give you guys my impressions.

Graphics

Despite what others are saying this game looks great and beats pretty much every other thing I played on Wii U with NSMBU being the closest and Batman being the worst (it's worth noting that Arkham City was a very early version).

Like in every other masterpiece attention to detail is what makes the difference. Some Higlights I think are worth mentioning are:

  • Almost everything on scene is polygonal and shaded instead of textured. (even the lines "painted" on the street are 3D)
  • The characters look great with little details like their helmets and belts protuberances shown on 3d instead of just a texture
  • Pretty much everything cast a shadow and there is even different walking animations for the various characters. However it feels odd that the characters only cast some "blob" shadows. (one cool thing is that even grided trash cans and individual grass cast a shadow)
  • Good use of depth of field that even when trying I couldn't note the transition
  • Looks like Rock Solid 60 fps and with little aliasing
  • You can see detail on the little faces of heros that are like .5cm on screen
  • Screenshots don't make the the game justice

Gameplay

General controls are tight, movement is fast and the guard (ZL) and dodge (Zr) buttons are very intuitive as well as the Jump (B) and attack buttons (X&Y). I had issues with the touch and right stick controls being the the last one the worst. Maybe the sensitivity settings were set too low, but when trying to circle the citizens to convert them in heros I pushed the stick alll the way and the movement of the cursor was as slow as it is when you walk silently on SMG pushing just a little the nunchuck stick. Using the touch screen is a lot more agile, but I made a big circle using the whole surface on the screen and it was represented on the tv as a circle as big as a 1/3d of the sceen height and I ran out of "ink" to continue my circle wich proved a little frustrating. However the general mechanics of charging the most powerful attacks by using the regular ones forces you to think of the way you fight. Same things happens with dodge and guard attacks. e.g. You have to time perfectly your guard to avoid damage and bounce off your enemies.

I could keep talking about all the details, but I don't want to bore you, however feel free to ask any question. The game is great!
