why did anyone think they were going to show games... they weren't. They're not going to tell you specs either. They never do.

They've thought long and hard about the new found appeal of social gaming and how it can be part of 'proper games' rather than facebook pish.

It's going to be wonderful

Bit concerned they didn't mention anything about FriendCodes or how that side will work.

But the hope of better online interaction and the mention/admission that longterm gameplay might not be suited to the gamepad, hence the "Pro" controller has peaked my interest in the WiiU.

So, no 3DS news on Tuesday? Shame. My 3DS wants more love.

Looking forward to seeing the games. I don't care that much about the social features, but can see why many would.

Hope this gets other apps like netflix support. Scared about the price though.

Netflix is on the Wii. It'll be on Wii U.

I see we have confused people after a Nintendo announcement again. Drunk or just thick as shit?

Its' still very much a 360 rip-off, innit. Who'd have tought, Nintendo stealing from others?

It's a 360 controller with a proper D-pad. I wonder if this means the CC Pro won't work on the WiiU, I mean apart from the clicking stick it's got the same number of buttons as this.

Looks like its going to take somebody to buy a WiiU and rip it apart to find out this machines tech specs...because Nintendo sure as hell aren't going to tell us.

Nintendo never state specs. I can see why they wouldn't want to, specs are essentially meaningless to the bulk of the market they want. Developers will of course know, but they will be NDA'ed all over the place.

Besides, specs don't give any real idea of meaningful performance, the are so many variables as to make them redundant to such guessing.

The pro controller has fixed my one bugbearer with the 360 controller, the position of the right thumb stick, the one device on the controller that requires precise movements and they stick it at a squint angle.

THIS is how it should be done with symmetrical lay out of the sticks. I hope microsoft rip it off right back.

I like that you can troll SP games now with comments. That's awesome.

360 controller for the wii u? That's pretty much an admission that the wii u iPad controller is not enough in its own right.

The core button layout across both is basically identical, and it's certainly not a case of 'not enough' rather too much. I think it's a sensible, predictable move.

Gotta love it... everyone spunks over the great online integration that Dark Souls had... and now Nintendo are enabling pretty much the same kind of thing on ALL GAMES... but because it doesn't look angry and muscly, the insecure crowd are calling it shit.

Depending on the games, I'm going to buy it. And nunchucks and wiimote. And the 360 rip off. I completely missed out on the Wii and Nintendo have positioned themselves to be the all-in-one device that can also play Mario and Zelda, games which I've missed this gen.

Ignoring the really, really weird format and cringe-worthy promo video...

It was okay. Nothing mind-blowing, but it all looked decent enough. The social stuff is not really aiming at the gaming crowd, but it would need significant market penetration to gain any traction, and I think that's an uphill struggle.

I take the controller pro to basically be - 3rd parties, you have no fucking excuse... if you can't be arsed even trying to do something unique, then there's a standard controller (with the sticks in the right place).

It's one of the reasons I prefer the PS3 over the 360 (I know it's not a popular opinion). It will be interesting to see how well it works, having the buttons and the dpad above the sticks seems to work better - time will tell.

You are truly unusual, Scott. Sort your fucking head out.
