E3 - Nintendo Conference Thread - 3DS Conference (June 6th/2am)

Plus it is big at least for Nintendo themselves to finally a console 3rd parties are willing/able to work on.

But are they, really?

Where was Call of Duty? Battlefield 3? Resident Evil 6? Dead Space 3?

Sure they had some third party stuff, but none of it was inspiring.

I'm kind of surprised to the general reaction here I mean what did you expect? A hardcore gaming machine? Nintendo are clearly more interested in short term gimmickry as the priority rather then innovative new games (MS and Sony increasingly so too). Super Mario Galaxy may be the only exception. I'm not interested in bells and whistles so my expectations were low and they were met.

At E3 2011 Reggie hammered on about the fact that the Wii U was for the hardcore audience. Sadly it seems it's just going to be a PS3 that plays last year's third party titles.

Imagine if they showed off some genuinly exciting stuff like a new Metroid Prime or Starfox. Hell a new IP even? Some sexy graphics perhaps? But All we got was games from yesteryear and mini games which got way too much attention. Terrible, terrible conference.

I had to leave during the Batman presentation - when they were showing the gimmicky tablet stuff. Did I miss anything good afterwards? The last pages I've seen talk about some minigame land/universe and Wii Fit and makes my heart sink.

That was it. After that it was all Wii Fit U, Wii Music 2.0, Just Dance 4, Nintendoland and a whole mess of similar gimmicky shit we all know and love from the original Wii. Predictably there are few people who loved it regardless because Nintendo.

Fair enough. This was the first E3 i've watched. Seems like I didn't pick a good'n.

What happened to Capcom and Nintendo? Capcom used to make Zelda games and pledge AAA support to Gamecube when no one else would.

Then it decided it would just make shite light gun games and a token port or two.

Now it won't even port games to Wii U.

Sad.

Despite never playing games any more I always enjoy the excitement of E3 but even stuff like yesterday's Watch Dog playthrough, whilst technically amazing, still managed to bore me and for once Nintendo didn't bring any of the magic either. Nintendoland is a more convoluted Wii Play, Pikmin looks pretty but not quite the system seller I was hoping for and then the rest of the presentation was for a bunch of games I have no interest in buying now let alone at a premium price when the Wii U launches. In fact the most interesting game there was Lego City Undercover.

Then I come in here and see Project P-100 and it looks brilliant fun. I can see why they may have left it out of the presentation (it is very similar to Pikmin) but for sheer 'ooh I need to play that now' appeal it won E3 hands down for me.

Woah, woah woah - I had to step out to de-cringe during the Just Dance 4 bit - was a Wii Music sequel confirmed? :omg:

So bloody disappointed by E3 this year, I can feel myself welling up a bit. There's more to come, right?

If I had to think of a winner, I'd probably say it was the board game industry.

Why was there nothing on display that didn't look like a Wii game with HD graphics? I mean the new marios looked IDENTICAL to the wii's versions. Obviously it's mario and it will look the same, but come on. This is meant to be a next gen machine.
