How much content is in the Edgerunner update?  I don't have the game installed at the moment (I've finished the main game a time ago), but I'm considering doing so for the update if there's a fair chunk of content to play.  And is it worth watching the Edgerunner show before or after?

3 new gigs, a few weapons and clothes, some references and Easter eggs, and the rest is mostly QOL such as transmog for clothing. It was transformative, tbh, but didn’t add a ton of “content”

I am sporting what I assume is the yellow jacket from the Edgerunners anime - haven't seen the thing, but as the mission started off with some very strange animation, I'm gonna assume that was part of it!

I do love the way that if you stare at random people, they mostly smile back at you.

Possibly nervously, but they do react to being stared at, which i think is kind of cool.

Looked at the map and thought I was making good progress with side jobs and gigs. Turns out I had the dynamic filter on.

Jesus wept. There's so many sweet, sweet icons.

There really is, but I kind of love all these side missions. I find that the gigs are like little puzzle games - especially if you play stealthy. There’s so many different ways of approaching them, it’s pretty amazing. I don’t even mind them going all to shit, because all that means is I break out the guns and start blowing heads off. Obviously a katana would be more elegant, but I always forget I have it.

No real complaints from me, was just a bit sideswiped by how much I still have to unpack. The side gigs are great for exploring, done about a dozen tonight and uncovered parts of the map I wouldn’t have even thought to visit. It’s a staggeringly vast game.

One of these days I might tackle a story mission.

How does a sandevistan work? I bought and installed one, it says to activate it by pressing and holding rb and lb but nothing happens when I do.

Was home alone last night so had a six hour getaway in Night City. Actually in the city too, which was such an overload on the senses. Last few sessions I've been more in Pacifica and the Badlands but the built up area of city itself is so much fun to explore. Bought some threads, hooned my Caliburn around, rode Jackie's Arch a bit, crashed into a lampost, did NCPD's jobs for them, went back to my apartment to have a kip. Actually, my weird head canon for this is making sure V is back in her apartment at the end of a session. I like to know she's safe and resting while the city continues on around her.

An Edge 6 if ever there was one.

I do the same thing; sleeping gives you a 60-minute +20% XP boost. Perfect for leveling up skills you never use for those juicy perk points.

Haha, yep, I've reached the point where my V is pretty powerful, so now most of the perks I pick are because I think they sound useful. Although I wasted 3 on being able to charge shot tech guns. First 2 on the amount of charge allowed, only my Burya still didn't charge shots. Then I found a perk that sounded like it permitted charging, only it doesn't. Turns out there's a bug (or I and lots of other people have missed something)

No matter, the Burya still shoots through walls. But while doing an actual story mission last night, I was confronted with a pretty intimidating foe...

Spoiler

a Juggernaut. Shit, I thought, best brace myself for a dust-up here. Oh no, wait, BOOM, one-shot kill with the Burya. See-ya dickhead.

And that sniper rifle from the Beat the Brat questline is still utterly ridiculous. Upgraded it a couple of levels and it just ruins gang members. It's my favourite gun so far because it's just so OTT.

Don't forget you can spend money to reset your perks down in the bottom left of the screen when you're looking at your Attribute points overview, so you can play around with different perk setups and builds. And there are perks in some parts of the skill tree that are super helpful for builds that prioritize other skill trees. I've mentioned my throwing knife build which instantly returns the knife to my hand if I get a crit or headshot, which is always. I don't do much stealth combat - if I'm sneaking it's to invisibly complete the objective before going back in quite visibly - but I leveled Cool up to 16 just to get it.

Guess I’ve been doing more story missions than I realised as got the ‘point of no return’ message during my last session.

Was on a lunch break WFH so figured I didn’t have time to do the last few missions, and didn’t want to rush through them anyway. Think I won’t do them just yet either, as still have so many side gigs and quest lines like the Johnny Silverhand stuff.

I think I can do them after the story, but head canon kicking in again, kind of want the credits to be the end point until the DLC launches. That probably sounds weird but it’s my save file and I’m sticking to it!

Ha, nice vid. I got it working in the end, it was a bug. I stopped using it though because it's kinda boring to be honest. Going back to being a sneaky hacker that isn't too good at either things so in the end always relies on her katana and shotgun 8-).

Blimey. Panam used some filthy language in what I'm going to assume is the last text message I'll ever get from her.

Oh well, it's her loss. My apartment in the Glen is lovely. Better than my one in that Corpo tower, that's for sure.

Now we'll see how badly I can fuck up relations with Judy I guess!

Good session of gigs and side jobs this afternoon. Spending more time exploring I realised why I like the setting so much, and it’s because the city, while certainly futuristic, also feels lived in. It’s got (some) lovely areas but also some really grubby and sleazy spots.

As a result Night City feels authentic. It’s absorbing when you’re roaming the streets with notable shifts in how areas feel. I know that’s not unique to Cyberpunk but in this case it does enhance the immersion.

As Jackie says early on: "Can't stop digging Night City"

And it's true. Sure, it's a hive of scum and villainy, but it really does feel like it's a city that you could probably also get by in if you kept your head down and had some legendary gorilla arms.

If folks have a spare 2+ hours to spare (!), this youtube vid about the game is pretty good. It chimes with a lot of my thoughts on the game now, that's for sure.

I won’t watch any video about Cyberpunk 2077 that isn’t over 10 hours long with multiple endings.

Totally. It feels like how a city from today would grow and develop over the next fifty years. If I was a Night City resident I’d definitely want to be working from home though. Too many gonks out there.

Blimey.

Spoiler

The concert you give as Johnny

is one of the most impressive things I've seen in a very long time. The choreography going on is just outstanding.

Also, music doesn't make me want to rip my ears off.

Ever.

Definitely one of the best soundtracks on a game for a very long time.
