Sheeeeeeeeeeee-it!

Last night I found a gun (a Burya) that shoots through walls. My V just became the most feared Angel of Death in Night City. When she’s not running blindly into traffic or misjudging the size of gaps when double-jumping.

Heh, “Burya”.

Crafting question. Without really trying I've ended up with a few specs for legendary weapons. I keep meaning to get into crafting proper, and have Technical up to 18 for when I do. I did a Panam mission where I got a new gun and noticed I could craft the epic version, and then realized I could make the legendary one. I still have the epic and original rare - can I just disassemble those? As crafting sometimes (iconic only?) relies on having the previous version, I wondered if I needed to keep them. I suppose I could shove them in the stash, just in case.

Speaking of the stash, are there specific weapons that go in the placeholders on the wall at my apartment? I've got a few iconic weapons now, but putting them into my stash doesn't make them appear on the wall (which is what I guessed would happen). Is this not even a thing?

re: crafting iconic. If you have an epic and want to craft a legendary, the epic will be automatically destroyed when you craft the legendary. If you destroy the epic first, you’ll never see it again. So don’t do that.

I crafted the Jinchu-Maru katana to legendary, my word the animation when you first unsheath it.

It's raining limbs.

That’s a great sword, you might also enjoy Byakko, the hiltless katana you get from Wakako upon completing all her gigs. It has a unique property where it will make you pounce on a far away enemy (like w mantis blades) if you aim a strong attack at them. Makes closing ground easier and fun. Also good for crowds because you can pounce, dodge back out, pounce back in, etc.

I've been taking Panam's rifle for a spin, almost as much fun as cutting limbs off. Finally got to Act 3 tonight. Pacing myself as I don't want this story to end yet. This is the most immersive, gripping game I've played in forever. Not even second guessing choices, shooting dialogue off instinctively as I roleplay my V.

Just brilliant.

Echoing this, can’t remember the last time I played an open world game without sometimes double-checking dialogue options, or worrying about the choices in the game.

Last two sessions just been doing gigs and wandering around Night City remote detonating grenades. River keeps trying to hit my V up, but she’s already shacked up with Judy. Stop being so thirsty River!

Out of interest, how does Cyberpunk compare as an absorbing world with The Witcher III? Now the PS5 upgrade is out, tempting to take the plunge but while I’ve played hundreds and of hours of various Fallouts, and love Cyberpunk, never really played a fantasy RPG. Closest thing I can think of is Fable but that’s probably not a good comparison.

The Witcher 3 is a totally different beast really. The open world feels flat and with far more barren but traditional design of having the obvious points of interest and then smaller city hubs. Cyberpunk to be is far more absorbing and immersive as a single city entity with a desert attached around it with vertical layering, platforming, movement versatility, density etc that just can't be matched with the more trad open world of W3. What excels W3 as worth it is the characters and some of the quest writing which is really immersive.

Anyone got a good guide to making a bit of money crafting? I find one which said make uncommon char grenades from two uncommon pieces, shred them to get a rare piece, and then sell that for 25. You can do 800 of those a day for your 20,000 daily maximum from a sell terminal.

Seems a bit... dull.

I bought the game around release but held off playing it until the bugs were sorted and in the end forgot about it.

Finally got sucked in tonight and made it to the late title card. Other than the occasional clipping I’m glad to see it runs and looks great. I’ve been taking the time to read every document so it’s a safe bet I’m in for the full ride.

Interesting that the trophy for making it this far has only been earned by 50.9% of players.

This is still rough as shit - glitching, flashing textures and yet another crash to dash. Jesus.

It still has quick resume issues on Xbox, but I definitely wouldn't call it rough as shit.

On PC now it's as stable and finished as any other game.

I'm on my second playthrough, this time as a male Nomad V, just met Keanu and the city has opened up. What an incredible game still. Nothing else out there quite like it.

I wouldn’t bother crafting to make money, unless you’re going for the achievement for buying every car or something. You get plenty of cash just through playing the game - the economy is one of the few bits of the game that feels well/balanced. Just do a few gigs if you need money - if you’re a net runner, the access points can net you a few more eddies too.

Thank you! The last sentence makes W3 sound appealing, will add it to my wishlist for 2023 :)

Good to know. I do quite fancy collecting some vehicles but, so far, make loads of money from NCPD stuff.

I've played such a hell of a lot of this in the last few months. I finally got to the stage where I was temporarily done with it. Today I went to Oxford Street to do some shopping and found myself in a dark rainy neon lit area behind some shops that made me want to have another little go maybe.

Finally started to play this properly after having it since launch. (PC version of course!) Done the heist and I am about 8 hours in . Utterly fantastic so far, and has graphics to make your GPU cry.

I seem to be going down the diplomacy route, shotgun to the face diplomacy.

Yeah, sneaking, subtle use of reboot optics quick hacking, etc. I don't have any points in the ninja skills either, but can do it when needed (like, the mission calls for decorum).

Whomever recommended the Burya pistol, God damn. Either a head goes missing or after a couple of hits they seem to catch on fire. Spectacular. I need to upgrade this to legendary.

Also started this last week when off with Covid and am 15 hours in and totally loving it.  Have tried stealth on a few missions but one slip up and everyone is permanently alerted.  So then i reach for my bright pink Katana and finish the job. Trying to slow down on the story missions and earn some eddies and teach myself more about how the systems work.  Do i need to keep dumping decent guns back at my apartment or just scrap them as i get the duplicates?

You don't really need to hang on to weaker versions of guns - an Overture with 500 DPS is always going to be better than one with 400 DPS. There are random-ish perks on weapons, but none are transformative.

I just scrap them for the components, so that I can keep upgrading iconic weapons. Guns are pretty expensive to buy in this, so I usually hang onto one decent version of each gun in case I want to try it out, but you don't need to have a huge hoard of them.

I currently rotate between a Burya and a shotgun. Start with quick hacks, then steam in for some swift, loud violence if my RAM gets low.

The shotguns in this do inspire some great ragdolling.

I never got on witb the Burya, because you can't attach a silencer.

I tend to pull out the Burya when things have gone south and using the katana would be too boring. If I'm at the point where I'm using a loud, obnoxious revolver that has a tendency to set people on fire, I figure I've screwed up anyway. Unless the alarm hasn't been tripped I guess, katana can still put someone down quietly enough not to cause a scene, again if I haven't been sneaky enough.

I don't have the Ghost in the Shell camo but I love how this game allows loads of play styles, depending on your mood. Rando group of wanteds I happen upon in the street while doing something else? Eh, I put down a couple of quick hacks and they're already dead* before I've wandered off.

*This game should allow for some Fist of the North Star conversations with NPCs, where they're shittalking me without knowing I've already set their cyberware to explode.

It totally is an option.

Huzzah. I’ll keep on that path. Was only going by my experience with

Spoiler

The mission to rescue Evelyn. I spent ages setting off distractions and timing my moves from cover to cover in a couple of rooms, only to have the whole place descend on me in the next as I crouched in a corner blindly firing until the noise stopped! I guess it’s too early to be specced or geared for much else.

Crafting is like the Witcher where it costs money, you do it because you want the gear, rather than Skyrim where you just make iron daggers to get rich.

No offense folks but this just isn't true. I made 3 million eddies in a few hours (current patch version) by crafting and selling Yukimuras. Your profit at lower rarities will be poorer, but you just have to do it for longer.

I’m about 12 hours in now myself and that sounds about right. Still trying to sus out if stealth is really an option and starting to think that it isn’t.

As others have said, it totally is. It's actually one of the more broken playstyles (taking second place to netrunning) because with the right perks invested in Ninjutsu and Cold Blood you can eliminate an entire building's worth of enemies quicker than an orbital strike. You can pair this with the cyberware that blinds people when they spot you, and the cyberware that slows time when someone starts to spot you. If you pair all this with optical camo, you may as well just watch a playthrough online for all the lack of challenge you'll face.

In Ninjutsu, you want any perk that increases damage/ crit from outside combat, you want the perk that boosts your movement speed after a takedown, increased movement speed while sneaking, silenced weapon perks. In Cold Blood you want the perks that buff your movement speed and crit, and the perks that give you extra stacks and duration of Cold Blood. Also useful for shotgun builds, because the quicker you kill people the quicker you can kill people.

I seem to recall hitting someone for a 30,000 damage critical headshot with a throwing knife the other day. Overkill, to be sure.
