I power-cycled the PS4 (reader, he turned it off and on again*) and that fixed the system update.

So, just for you guys, I am installing the update. When I get to start playing again in (checks) 52 hours or more, I'll let you know if I see any difference. See you in 2 1/2 days.

Merry Christmas :)

So now do y'all see why I was playing it unpatched in the first place?

<_<

Back to the Switch for now, I think. But not to play Splatoon because the PS4 will be hogging my bandwidth. Honestly, it's like the 1990s at times.

You sure you're not in some temporal anomoly, and it's actually 1998 where you live?

Unless you actually want the patch now or are content to wait, I'd guess that uninstalling the game and reinstalling might let you play the unpatched version again.

That said, listening to advice in this thread hasn't gone brilliantly for you so far, so probably ignore this.

Man, to be that young again...

I'll wait for the patch to install - I had to do the same for Elite Dangerous when I started that.

Good article about why Cyberpunk, while being a good game, falls short of Deus Ex quality: https://www.pcgamer.com/after-cyberpunk-2077s-rocky-launch-its-time-to-bring-back-deus-ex/

I was really looking forward to Cyberpunk but decided to wait until it's a bit more finished before diving in proper. Since then my expectations have been significantly lowered and I've heard similar takes as that article from multiple people whose opinion I respect. Which is a damn shame, but on the upside there's a bigger chance of me enjoying Cyberpunk for what it is when I get around to it. And if it leads to another Deus Ex revival, it will all have been more than worth it. I absolutely loved Mankind Divided and Human Revolution!

I also agree with the article. The Cyberpunk world CDPR has created is brilliant, Night City is fantastic, but the main game that takes place within it isn't up to the same quality. Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly enjoying a second play of Cyberpunk, it's a genuinely good game, but it isn't the game I was expecting or hoping it would be.

I'm hoping that CDPR pull off what they did with Witcher 3: truly amazing DLC. They have a bit of work to do before that though, and I'm happy to wait. :)

Especially the skies! But, in all seriousness - Witcher 3 was already brilliant before the DLC. Those fantastic expansions made it all even better, but it was already fantastic. So they would have a far steeper hill to climb with Cyberpunk if the base game, disregarding the bugs, is 'merely good' to elevate it to 'brilliant on the same level that Witcher 3 was'.

I'm definitely still in though, love the setting and I'm going to definitely check out any DLC.

I think this is a really ugly and boring game, I’m playing on pc with high settings. A lot of repetitive textures, the city itself feels really lifeless compared to other open world games. The one thing I hate most in this game is the advertisement posters, I’m fed up of seeing Bottom’s Up. Horrible poster.

Witcher 3 had issues at launch but it wasn’t a boring world to travel in. You always came across something unique and quite beautiful to look at, the monster designs, quests and fights were also engaging. Cyberpunk has none of this.

The side quests are the most generic I have seen in years. I’ve been doing all the yellow markers too. The huge amount of blue dots on your map are just padding for the game due to lack of original content. They are mostly just a normal fight with a couple of enemies and some really bad loot you’ll just end up selling as junk.

This is Fallout 76 & Anthem bad.
I haven’t even mentioned the glitches and bugs I have come across. It’s just a really bad shallow game.

I’ve waited to start playing this until last night as it’s been loads of other stuff I needed to tend to over the holidays but I’ve finally managed to put a few hours in.

I went in with rather low expectations, especially as it’s a new IP and hearing loads of negative feedback since its release, both technical and gameplay wise.

First of all, I’m playing on PS4 Pro and I think the game looks great for such limited hardware. It’s hands down the most technial advanced game I’ve seen on any console so far and I’m rather intrigued by how they’ve pulled it off.

Granted, there are performance dips when things get busy but I’ve yet to experience anything resembling game breaking, this performs better than Fallout 4 ever did on my console but it looks a lot better in every regard.

I’ve always loved cyberpunk as a setting in all kinds of visual media and I think this game nails it, the atmosphere is spot on and parts of the city looks properly worn down and dirty.

Voice acting is generally very good and while I haven’t progressed far in the main story yet, I’ve found the story telling in the side missions fun and varied and I love that the lore is very detailed and there’s stuff to unveil about the lore all over the place.

I’ve seen a few mentions that people find this game boring but I couldn’t disagree more. The only reason I’d understand this game being seen as boring was if I expected a fast, action paced shooter but this is something that was never promised to my knowledge. I expected a detailed RPG and so far it seems that’s what we’ve got.

I can’t wait to explore more of the game, delve deeper into the skill tree and unveiling more of the lore and I’m pretty sure this’ll end up as a very enjoyable experience that I’ll cherish for years to come.

It’s definitely dense, I just don’t think it looks great. A lot of reused assets about and flat textures, I just don’t see what others are seeing in this.

EDIT: I think I know what my main issue is, its the TAA. Looks very blurry to me, looking online for a solution others are having the same issue. Disabling it turns off DLSS which isn't really an option.

That's so funny, I'm playing on a launch PS4 and I think it looks gorgeous, even if it is a 90s Ford Escort Cosworth compared with the Murcielago PC version. The blue icons are all pretty lame and standard, but most of the random lengthy character-driven side quests I've encountered (lots of them) have been worthy of most main quests in other games I've played. Can't play it again until Wednesday and I'm devastated

What resolution are you playing at? For me any DLSS other than "Quality" looked blurry at 1440p, but Quality looks perfectly sharp.

The screenshots I posted are how the game looks for me, and nobody would call them blurry.

I think he is right though. The game is ugly somehow. Particularly compared to Witcher 2 or 3. I have a really hard time explaining why. Yes your pictures look great on those screen shoots. But it is ugly in motion somehow.

It can be beautiful in spells. I am having a chat with say Evelyn and think: wow that looks great. But then I enter a really ugly warehouse with low rez graffiti on the wall. Or the ‘no tell motel’ which is fucking stupid.

Maybe it is just be the posters. They are ugly. There is no saving grace about them. And there are so many of them and so many repeat over and over.

I think Thor is also right that the game is ultimately really enjoyable but also a disappointment.

My main dislike is the terrible enemy AI. It makes combat really terrible. You are either hidden and staying away from vision cones or all hell has broken loose and they can all see you and hack you through walls. It feels like a PS2 game during combat. It is really terrible. To not say anything of driving AI.

I am really liking the story and characters. But there is great and terrible dialogue. Sometimes in the same scene.

In parts I agree..

It's almost as if some scenes have increased fidelity almost as if the GPU is scaling the quality, does that make sense? (I'm not a tech guy)

I've also had some terrible battles and amazing cinematic gunfights but like you say one second it looks like ass the next it's spectacular!
