I know :)

But I'm not really understanding the mechanic. Am I meant to be running away from these aggressive gangs at the moment? Or triggering something prior if they open fire?

Trying to take them out whilst being shot by the police and their drones is a bit infuriating.

If they're actually comitting a crime then it's fine in my experience, if not then I think technically you are breaking the law, crimes are signified by icons and pop ups.

Asking here to see if there's something I'm doing wrong.

When traveling the city there's often clusters of gangs - most often scanning them indicates I'm wanted.

Anyway, if I approach them they often open fire but returning fire often gets me wanted by the NCPD which I'm confused about.

Am I meant to be avoiding these confrontations entirely unless it's a mission? Or triggering something so that returning fire DOESN'T spawn NCPD to destroy me?

In my experience, you can only open fire on gangs if they are in the middle of something - e.g. you might find some gang peeps robbing some civs - in which case you're fine to open fire.

If they're just hanging on a street corner or something though, nah mate just leave it.

Zackers. If it's on the map as 'crime in progress' then intervene (I think you also get some text under minimap if this is the case)

Have to say that I've loved the little side stuff I've been doing recently. Even in just standard goon extermination-looking things, sometimes you scan a computer in their base and get a whole other set of stuff to do, it's real nice

Shit.

I was curious about Sony actually offering refunds so browsed the page for terms/small print out of curiousity...

It's just a big button, no confirmation etc that I stupidly missclicked at late reading time. (Who the fuck doesn't have an "are you sure" button!!!)

I don't want to lose access/refund. No issues on PS5  E-mail support to see if they can stop it ::(

Just booted up the game on PS4 and patch 1.05 is out - 17.4GB and downloading now, more info when I find out.

The patch notes have some pretty funny lines. https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/news/37166/hotfix-1-05

Jackie will no longer disappear in The Pickup or The Heist.

Fixed an issue with Delamain appearing upside down at the end of Don't Lose Your Mind.

Fixed an issue whereby after a braindance it was possible to be stuck in 3rd person view with no head.

Offscreen explosions make noise now

Good news, I've only been playing 10 minutes on the new patch and on base PS4 the visuals look noticeably sharper or higher res. Patch notes say sharpness has improved with the filters on, so that might just be it, but it just looks quite a bit better in general. The framerate also seems a lot more stable, when driving around I'm getting much less big frame dips, and much shorter pauses when it loads in new chunks. I'll post any other improvements to performance I notice.

So glad they have fixed the weapon crosshair staying on the screen, it happened to me all the time and was annoying as feck.

There is no way this game is going to recover after all this.

Brutal, to be honest. Presumably spent a few years working on it and then fucked it all up.

This could be running smooth in a month or two after a few patches but doesn't matter - fucked it.

Imagine being now tasked with upgrading the graphics for next gen consoles... I imagine the motivation is rock bottom.

It's kinda weird to watch the closed doors E3 demo again now, seeing all the stuff that was promised but left on the floor to rush it out.

Kinda sad really, I'm so glad I wasn't on board the speeding hype train.

I assumed the big button link ‘Click here to request refund’ would take you to a further details page/form like sim I’llsr sites have ‘click here to complete your purchase’ and then gave more screens/details,  but it literally is all you press to request (no confirmation pop up etc)

To be fair it does exactly what it says - my tired brain that assumed it was a link not the ‘do it’ button

If we're predicting the future I'd have to say I doubt it.

As soon as the bugs and crashes are patched sufficiently and more people have access to next gen consoles, how the game performed in the weeks/months immediately after release on base last gen consoles/unoptimised backwards compatibility mode will be irrelevant and people will start judging the game on its merits and not judging it for what it isn't.

The "will you refund the game" poll on this forum was over 80% "No" last time I saw it.

The city's design is pretty stunning and when the next gen patches come out I doubt there's going to be much out there that's more impressive in terms of the visual design/atmosphere/scale.

The most vocal critics (particularly those who haven't played the game) will have moved on to the next outrage (what's the next overhyped game for people to place their hopes and dreams on?), people on forums will be warring over some digital foundry ps5 vs series x framerate comparison of "currently hyped AAA game" that shows one console dropping 2 frames in a busy scene and cyberpunk will be showing up in sales etc.

I think this game will weather this shitstorm a lot better than something like an ubisoft factory annual open world misfire would.

Having played about 26 hours so far, I'll be pretty surprised if the consensus about this game (not its release state) isn't pretty strong praise in a year or so. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It could be you accidentally shot at an innocent passerby or a victim of the gangs.

It's extremely playable on Series x and by all accounts the PC version(the majority of sales) is spectacular. They're patching it weekly. The game will recover just fine, may take longer for CDPR's rep mind you.

It's not a fallout 76 or mass effect andromeda situation where the game is just shite regardless.

i think there are some big weapons that are equip-only. There was an LMG I picked up off a chongus from an early streetkid mission where you rescue some woman

Yes, I think that must have been the case.

I have to say I am absolutely loving this now. I’ve got stacks of weps that I’ve stolen, and despite there being some mission I’m supposed to be doing I’m just roaming round town on one of the great bikes finding nests of street punks and exterminating them. There is something highly satisfying about looting every morsel after a pitched battle. Your clothes, your boots and your motorcycles - I need them, and I’m taking them.

Also I’m playing on Stadia in 4K - it looks gorgeous, it’s butter smooth, I’ve seen maybe two obvious bugs where people were either sat inside each other or something like an ammo clip was floating in the air, but everything seems to work solidly and as intended. The detail of this city is just insane - the characters you see! It’s just a shame they turn into someone else if you run away and then look at them again.

Considering I got the game, the Chromecast and the controller for £40 all in, it’s the bargain of the year.

Also, bumped difficulty up again. Enemies still die in about 4 melee hits, but about 100x more shooting? wtacutal

What's the danger rating on the quests in the bit of the map you're in? I find it it's Very High or above then the enemies outlevel you and it's 8 sniper headshots per person city.

The max damage melee weapon I have at the moment is a massive wobbly dildo that I presume the person I got it off used on me. So, so edgy CPDR :coffee:

Mim. It sure I'm getting on with this. Will need to give it more time but they don't half bombard you with shit every 2 seconds.

I also feel like some of the exposition is just there to sound"future-techy" without actually meaning much. Will see how it goes obviously but I can see why some people are disappointed despite all the build up and hype. I'm not very far into it at all so we shall see.

It does a real poor job of explaining the game. One objective was to pass on the information to someone. No where did it say that to do this you need to open your phone messages and send a reply back to her. I had to bloody Google it and it seems I can't be the only one judging by the search results.

However, the weapons are satisfying to use though.

Just got back from the Blackwall and having double crossed me too many times Brigitte was all “what are you gonna do, you’re in MY house” so I blew her brains out and killed everyone I met on the way out. Then I came to my senses, reloaded an earlier save, and walked out peacefully.

I think that’s my second playthrough, as psychokiller V.

Update 1.05 - load up my save and go into the settings menu for my customary check to see if my changes are still present and now I’m locked in the menu with no way to return to the game.

Rebooted the game and received the following error message “User settings data appear to be corrupted and cannot be loaded. They will be replaced with default settings data.”

Don’t know if I can be bothered to play with the default controller settings.

Really struggling to recall a gaming debacle that comes close to this.

This happened to me too the first time I played after installing the patch but it seems to have been a once off thing and I've been able to enter/exit settings normally since restarting.
