With regret I’ve given up on it for the time being. Another patch next week, then a big one in January, then another big one in February. Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

I do like the game , but i'm waiting for the PS5 upgrade as well now. Can't be dealing with gigantic patches dropping every few weeks.

CD Projekt Red are some big bullshit spinners.

'we will only release this game if its ready'

'i saw the base console version and it runs surprisingly well' - as in, it turned on and loaded up?

'NPCs have hand crafted routines' - this person will bang on a vending machine for eternity

'you can customize your genitals' - true, but completely pointless. and glitchy

'make your own path' not really. This is V's story, not yours

The city is the real star but even then I'm surprised at the complete lack of leisure activities. It's pretty set dressing and nothing more - but for a streamlined 20 hr character driven RPG, that's enough.

My intention was to start playing it this week but maybe that's not a good idea then.

Did anyone manage to sneak out completely, or does it always get noisy?

Stealth all the way for me.

Not sure what to make of the bit about PS4 Xbox One - wasn't the reason for the delay to make sure it ran on all systems?

How you finding quality mode? I switched to Performance for 60fps and feel I'd struggle to go back now.

It’s fine. I had played it initially on performance but switched after Digital Foundry recommended the quality mode. It’s a super solid 30fps.

Anecdotal evidence ahoy! There’s a lot less people on my friend’s lists playing this on both consoles than I would have expected. I wonder if more people on console than I thought have decided to be patient and wait for the a full fat next gen copy instead of playing the janky diet version we have now.

I hate unskippable cutscenes in games (and giving you control of the camera doesn't make it not a cutscene), but at least when this one disables skipping forward you have the chance that a character's weapon will teleport into their hand and subsequently stick to everything they touch, and that's the story of how (Act I story spoiler)

Spoiler

Jackie pushed his pistol right through his own head when he touched the biochip while he was bleeding out...

...and his final action was to rip it out and insert it into V's head:

Every time I play, at least one of my guns will become unable to shoot while ADS, which needs a save and quit to fix.

Speaking of glitches, the odded one I have had so far is where I broke a window and then tried to jump through. Clearly I hadn't broken enough of the glass because instead of just jumping through, the game propelled me at near light speed about 200 yards backwards!

Otherwise, I've been mostly bug free, but have had some issues with lines of conversations being silent, but thankfully that's been rare. On a more positive note, I am loving the Mantis blades, and has anyone else got the Widow Maker rifle yet? It's pretty tasty!

What you make of it is that it's condescending bullshit.

What did you seriously expect though?

They have said neither console can really run it at the moment, they are going to do their best to remove the bugs but that the old consoles will never have it looking like the next gen versions or PC and if that's an issue you can get a full refund

Seems pretty fair.

Was that the window on the quest where you eventually get the Widow Maker? Because I had the exact same thing on that window too!

Man I really need to remember to craft ammo after each encounter

Oh is that where you're meant to get ammo from! Fucking hell, my guns have been running on fumes for the last 4 or 5 hours of gameplay.

You think we should be applauding CDPR for spending years marketing a game as being playable on Xbox and PS4, then putting out a glitch-ridden mess with terrible frame rate and resolution on the base consoles and only admitting this after it's come out and sold millions?

They were deliberately deceptive, withholding any footage of base Xbox and PS4 gameplay prior to release. The idea that they just didn't spend enough time making it run well on those consoles is ludicrous. Those consoles would have been the console platforms they originally started targeting the game for in the first place.

In a way they got lucky that the game was delayed so much that it came out after the next gen consoles launched because at least now they can point to having a console version of the game that is vaguely acceptable. Offering a refund for knowingly mis-selling a product to base Xbox and PS4 owners is the absolute least they should be doing.

Fair? Eight years in development, announced BEFORE the XBox One and PS4 came out, and they say they can't get it to run right? That's fair? It's bullshit.

The thing I expected was it to come out and be a mess, so they were met. Lots of people expectations weren't. Lots of people expected to get a game that wasn't a hot mess on the consoles it was originally announced/made for.

It was 'announced' eight years ago with some concept art and CGI. We actually didn't see it running until two years ago.

Which is probably related to why it was delayed so much this year in the first place

Really? What happens to

Spoiler

Jackie? He walk away at the end of the mission?

I played on a little bit after that, to what seemed to be a big scripted set piece and it totally fell to pieces.

Spoiler

I wake up in the town garbage dump and after some preamble, the system triggers an on rails escape. I'm supposed to be shooting corporate ninjas on bikes but load times mean I get 2s of shooting every 10s. The script timings seemed fucked by this, so I don't get much time to aim at anyone, let alone shoot them. Plus the gun I get handed after each fail seems to have random firing rates and damage stats.

Then I deduce there's supposed to be one particularly persistent bad guy, but he basically levitates off his bike in crucifix position, burning slightly, while I try to draw a bead on him as he teleports about above/'on' the car.

Then we crash, I get a prompt to 'get the gun', and a minute later I shoot him in the head.

That was totally broken. I’ll leave missions until the patch. Side quests and jobs for me.

That was plain buh-ro-ken.

To be honest with you, in terms of mechanics and user interface it feels all of its eight years in development.

It's not a bad game at all - it's got some pretty amazing stuff going on in it, but it feels utterly dated in its mechanics to me. The user interface is pretty much an abomination and constantly, unceasingly kicks me in the balls with its unnecessary complexities.

As I've said before - I think the real Cyberpunk game is going to be out in a year or two's time and I think it'll be almost unrecognisable, but it's disappointing to me at least that CDPR haven't learnt as much as I thought they would have based on what they've produced before, and now they're going to have to spend countless hours and months plugging the holes.

I have no doubt that they will - CDPR are pretty much as good as it gets for consistent updates and improvements - but they're constantly doing things the hard way, and it's just annoying because I'm not getting paid to be a beta-tester.

They've offered a patch schedule and full refunds, and you call it 'condenscending bullshit'.

"Mild criticism"

They released a game that's in a shocking state for the majority of people (platform-wise) who bought it and now have to put out fires and release an intense schedule to fix it, no doubt taxing their developers even more seeing as, to all intents and purposes, they're still making the game . "That's fair."
