no. I found someone who sold me a leopard print bra and some shiny purple leggings but that’s about it. They match my lipstick but I prefer my teenie tiny shorts

I enjoy pretending posts in this thread are about real life and not the game.

Oh man, I probably shouldn't have done all the sidequests on the starting island before getting Keanu, he has a surprising amount to say about them.

As for crafting, recipes seem to be based on rarity, not level, so I got some green-rarity-gear recipes at level 2 which gave me level 2 gear, but if I craft them now at Level 13 I will get Level 13 gear, they stay relevant. Recipes are worth getting if you see them in shops.

I've been breaking down all my spare guns and armour into components and to keep my inventory tidy, if you don't have any recipes you can use the upgrade tab to keep gear relevant if you have a gun that you really like.

I'm a little bit further in and the difference in technical quality between exterior and interior on PS4 is like night and day. Outdoors it often looks as downright bad as you've seen in videos, and if you walk around at speed you often get examples of the GoldenEye character models. Indoors in story quest areas it looks awesome though, its like playing two different games. I'm starting to feel pretty pissed off at CDPR for releasing it in this state on base consoles, its an embarrassment. They clearly geared end of dev time to PC and next gen where the reviewers and early impressions would get to see it, then banned reviewers from showing non PC footage before release. That's fucked up. When you compare it to other PS4 games from a visuals standpoint it fails miserably outside of aforementioned quest interiors.

Now I don't agree that the game is unplayable at all but it definitely affects immersion outdoors and the frame rate dips are noticable outside and in combat. What pisses me off is the way they've dealt with base consoles despite the fact a large proportion of their user base will be playing on them and pre ordered on them. I think this is going to cost CDPR a lot of goodwill, all over the net I'm seeing angry and dismayed base console users in shock at the state its in on their consoles. People don't have unrealistic expectations on PS4 either, they're pointing to games like Red Dead 2, Assassins Creed Valhalla where yes you lose performance on PS4 but they still look great, or the visuals take a hit for a smoother experience. As one commenter pointed out, with Cyberpunk they managed to do neither.

Yes its just a game, and yes we went in knowing we were getting the least qualified version of the game for the job. But we still paid our 50/60 quid and we're not getting a technical experience that's on par with any other game of this ilk, even Witcher 3 looks technically better in its open world and we know how old it is... from the same company! Fingers must be pointed at mismanagement, not the actual devs for this. They've had 8 years fully knowing what market they were aiming at, there's little excuse. They should have made bigger compromises on base consoles to get a more consistent experience,  or pared down the overall open world and details across all formats to give lower systems a chance. Ideally they should have cancelled base console release a year or two ago and just been honest with customers.

Anyway rant over, its not the end of the world, its not unplayable, but it is CDPR taking massive liberties with one of its core userbases.

Have no NPCs dropped stuff or haven’t you upgraded anything? Or crafted?

I found a dude in a market type place selling some cool threads but tend to wear loot and upgrade it if I like the look.

I've barely been doing main missions, just pootling around doing odd jobs and fighting quests and taking it all in. I did one just now though and looted some body armour that was way above what I was wearing and it made me go ''Ohhh...' so I asked here!

I've not crafted anything other than athsma pumps so far and didn't even know you could upgrade stuff! I'll look into that.

On the Giant Bombcast, someone mentioned how in Witcher 3, every little sidequest felt worthwhile because there was some little nugget of unique storytelling, even if you were just clearing out basic mobs in terms of gameplay. That’s certainly how I felt about it. They said that none of that is really evident in CP2077, and all the sidequest stuff is very generic.

I’d be keen to hear if people agree/disagree on this.

Yeah, I stumbled across the upgrade tab on the crafting page, I don’t think it was highlighted to me

The one I did tied into some other stuff and was quite interesting actually so definitely fits into the former rather than the latter but as I said earlier I’ve only done 2 so far!

I only just spotted the tabs on the perks screen this morning

I've done a few side missions that reintroduced characters and gave a bit more backstory. Some others have been quite amusing and heavily referenced other game franchises even. Nothing I'd really class as filler.

Hard disagree, all the sidequests have huge amounts of effort put into them, conversations with NPCs, some of which are essentially just Deus Ex "social battles", there's unique fully animated stuff Keanu will comment on, multiple paths, bad ends, scripted setpieces, unique bossfights, even the third tier 'clear out this gang camp' stuff has unique emails, conversation logs, and chains together, where those message logs will unlock other opportunities eventually leading to you to something, etc.

That sounds like the usual Giantbomb "don't bother to read anything or do anything more than the path of least resistance"

Has anyone found any decent armour vendors? I'm still wearing stuff from the start of the game and am dead in a couple of hits when things go loud.

Ripperdoc in the market (where you go for one of the early side quests)

Spoiler

will sell you skin upgrades.

How to make your controls massively better (I will edit this with any new discoveries/suggestions).

I cannot stress enough how much of a huge difference this has made to me. The autoaim was so sticky and draggy, making it impossible to aim accurately and turn the camera during combat scenes. Not to mention the insane "turning bonus" that makes it impossible to predict where you're going to end up looking when you start turning. Changing the options below totally transformed the game for me.

Under "controls":

Horizontal Sensitivity: 18 (personal preference)

Veritical Sensitivity: 13 (personal preference)

Zoom sensitivity reduction: 2
Horizontal Turning Bonus: 0

Veritical Turning Bonus: 0

Horizontal Turning ADS: 0

Veritical Turning ADS: 0

Turning Delay ADS: 0

Under "gameplay>accessibiility"

Aim Assist: OFF

Aim Assist - Melee Combat - OFF

Interesting - I don't get a wheel at all on PC. Double tap Y is holstering.

On PC I get the wheel and double tap works.

My top tip. Invest in the perk that auto converts junk to crafting parts. Now you'll never run out of bullets or meds again since you can craft them.

There are definitely discoverability issues in the game, particularly in the menus. Even outside of it sticking key prompts in all sorts of random parts of the screen, just the general layout of menus feels unfinished - like, it took me ages to realise you can access the 'shards' you collect from the menu, because despite being part of the 'Journal' section you can't actually get to them from within the Journal - it has no tabs internally - you have to quit back to the main menu, hover over Journal, then pick 'Shards' specifically. Madness!

Of course, things are exacerbated by my using an ultrawide resolution, as this is what any tutorial pop-ups in menus look like to me, inevitably put to the side of the screen and then cropped by the game's automatic borders:

No fucking clue what I'm being asked to do.

(and yes, I did have a nice time dressing V like a bellend)

Yeah I've had quite a few fleshed out side quests. There was one for example where Regina told me to go get back some meds that had been stolen that were now in a building in hang territory. Got into the flat expecting heavy resistance but instead found a guy with an interesting little mini story that can be resolved in a few different ways.

The vast majority of GiantBomb didn't play much of witcher 3 either so I don't know how they can compare them.

Just had the strangest experience. It foisted a bossfight of sorts on me in an early story mission. I'm a hacker techy crafter. I fired all of my rifle/sniper rifle/shotgun bullets and all of my grenades at it and used all of my health items. It still had half it's health bar left. I then had to fire 400 pistol bullets at it before it died. I couldn't use any of my hacking skills and I couldn't craft anything mid fight. I also couldn't save, and the most recent possible save was before a cutscene and a load of inventory management and another big fight. There was no opportunity to save between the most recent save and the boss appearing. Major Deus Ex vibes. Luckily I have the aforementioned junk skill so I could quickly make 1000s more bullets after the fight to replenish what I'd lost. But if I didn't happen to have 400 pistol bullets I would have had to reload the game and do a load of crap again. It had to stand in a spot where it couldn't hit me and fire through a gap for about 10-12 minutes.

Tried that, almost died instantly simply running and hammering up on the dpad. Couldn't stealth or distract or hack it either. I think it might be built as a "run away from these things you can't fight yet" type of deal but I'm playing on hard and most of my points are in tech so I just can't take the damage even healing constantly, so don't have any way to get through the scripted sequence.

Also can't change your equipment for the entire sequence either - it's all locked out.

If you shoot the side arms where the weapons fire come from those are the weak spots and blow off, if you blow both of them off it died.

I did the whole corp and maelstrom quest earlier in a way where:

Spoiler

I had to fight two of them at the end of it instead of Royce, so I was prepared

I'm stopping playing this until it's in a playable state.

I can't seen to untrack an objective??? The annoying yellow dot rotating around the screen is far too distracting for me. I've removed everything in the HUD and it's still there, as is a weird oblong bar in the middle of the screen. Really disappointed in this.
