Pretty funny how Talkshow Host has been awol ever since this hot mess dropped.

Ah, I didn’t know you care. :)

played some hours over the prologue as well and I stopped because I would never play it without the next gen patch, as I have said months ago. Why would I?

Even in these hours though and despite the bugs (haven’t had major ones on the SX yet), I have seen things other RPGs have only ever dreamed of, especially on now the main story and characters are intertwined or express themselves. The city itself is something never before seen.

I hope CD gives a much needed break to their team and then proceed with fixing any major problems. This already has “classic” written all over it -despite the technical issues the majority of the reviews have praised it- and when it finally becomes as it was supposed to be at launch, it will really let its achievements shine even more.

I hope these impressions will still be with me after I finish it of course. :P

Played ten minutes of this last night on Series X. Saw those beautiful holographic fish from the trailer that float in the air.

This does not appear to be the same game. A bit like getting the spectrum version after seeing the screenshots from the amiga.

Not sure what to believe.

It depends what you've seen in the run up to release.

If you've been watching trailers that have been showing the PC version with RTX on and all the gubbins cranked up the console version is going to look massively disappointing, as you'll be comparing it to this:

But if you haven't it's probably fine.

I'm just so fucking hopelessly engrossed in this game now. All I ever wanted was that 45min gameplay segment from 2018 and now here it is, on my computer. It's gone way beyond the hype as far as I'm concerned.

I've forced myself to go against my own wishes and opt for a sneaky hacker/mechanic Nomad character. Glad I did, as I'm spending talent points/perks on stuff I wouldn't usually be interested in and it's changing the way I'd normally play a game like this.

12 hours in and the only bugs I've seen so far are NPCs phasing through me, and having my summoned vehicle arrive totally trashed. One time a quest progress marker was borked, so I simply reloaded the save to fix it. The visuals are so good that it only takes an NPC to stagger into the road to break immersion at any point.

Which kind of goes to show how pointless these reviews are, the game has been released in an unplayable state (certainly on the consoles the majority of customers will purchase it for) yet it’s still received praise.

I'm really enjoying it so far. I've had bugs, but nothing that goes beyond something like Fallout 3 had on launch, for example, which were frustrating for sure but got patched fairly quickly and didn't stop me getting engrossed in the world.

I didn't watch a lot of the preview stuff in the run-up to release, and I'm glad I didn't. The things I've experienced for the for the first time over the last few days have been truly incredible. The visuals, the sound, the density of Night City, the life going on around me, the incidental stuff, the details... it's a dystopian vision that feels remarkably unsettling. I've not had that vibe before in a game and I love it. And it feels like I've barely scratched the surface.

I feel bad for the people feeling this game is a dud, or shouldn't have been released yet, that's so far from my experience.

I suppose it depends which platform you are playing it on - by all accounts the PC version is the one that achieves their vision but on PS4 and Xbox One it’s messy.

The more I play the more I think this should have been a series of hubs rather than an open world. The game does atmosphere really well and the world really thrives when it’s the backdrop for a mission. But when you interact with it as an open world it falls apart and is way short of say Rockstars recent attempts.

Unplayable state?

i have put over 8 hrs into the Xbox one x version and it’s been great. The resolution and framerate are abit lower than i’d Like, but it’s highly playable, despite encountering a few minor bugs at the beginning.

Just went and visited Clouds to calmly shake down someone for some information...

Spoiler

I am not good at stealth. Just walked out of the door leaving a trail of murder and destruction behind me. And a new katana.

That’s good to hear, but clearly for a lot of people it’s not at a state of completion they’d hoped for, yet, especially on base consoles. I’m still tempted mind.

Sure, obviously people with access to less powerful machines are going to have a worse experience. I'm playing on a Series X, for reference.

Interestingly we have people complaining that the game doesn't push the tech hard enough (it's not as good as the previews!) while at the same time complaining that it pushes the tech too hard (it's unplayable on last gen machines!). I guess scaling a game like this is hard, perhaps the cross gen ambition was too great. Certainly the top end PC previews have given people the wrong idea of what the game would be like at launch.

Hopefully incoming patches will help a bit with all that, but I think it's unlikely everyone will be satisfied.

I had the same outcome! :D

Spoiler

Although my rampage wasn't to do with lack of stealth but me just wandering into the VIP area, half expecting a bouncer to stop me, and then everyone turning red and attacking me. Was a pain in the arse as I had no weapons so had to beat someone to death to get their gun.

It's a shame the console experience isn't great as I've been absolutely blown away by the game. No bugs other than some visual ones, no crashes and I've been playing for 10+ hours and other than the driving (don't like it with K+M) and some performance degradation I've no complaints.

Glad to see someone else say it isn't as bad as many are saying. Granted xbox one x's gpu is a fair bit more powerful, but I'm experiencing the same on base ps4 and the constant "shouldn't have been released on previous gen" and "unplayable" comments seem really hyperbolic, epecially in the cases where the comments are based on having watched a youtube comparison video and not any time actually playing the thing.

I usually think that being part of the discussion when a game has just released and you're playing through it is part of the fun but I'm  leaning towards making an exception for this game and just focusing on enjoying my own playthrough without reading the constant negativity and griping that (luckily for me I guess) isn't matching up at all with what I'm experiencing while playing the game.

It was reviewed on PC and it certainly wasn't unplayable. Besides, bugs can exist and the game still be able to showcase its merits. Releasing it on this state was certainly the right decision for the company at this moment, but reaching this moment was a string of bad management and shitty decisions.

Either way the game looks really amazing and hopefully the more serious problems will soon be fixed for everyone.

That's a really interesting point.

I'm playing maxed out on my PC/room heater and when it works the game really does feel like a generational leap - RDR2 was what two years ago now right - but when the smallest thing goes wrong yeah I'm taken out of the experience. Something as small as lighting not being quite right on an NPC, or an NPC being relatively low-poly.

Diminishing returns for sure and a major lesson in project management. Consistency counts!

The only people claiming it’s unplayable in here are people like you who don’t have the game. What do you want? Are you just looking to have a moan?

Not true - I have the game and play it on the Series X. My son played it on his Xbox One but gave up as it was making him nauseous and got it for his PC instead.

You're seriously going to watch this video and tell me the game looks in a playable state on Xbox One when it's sub 720p and the framerate is still frequently in the teens?

Makes you wonder if they should have even bothered releasing on last gen consoles.

There's something about the game that feels slightly sterile when you're outside of the narrative (be that main quest or side quest). For all the magnificence of the city itself, and the sheer amount of people in it, it just doesn't quite feel alive to me.

Now, I know huge swathes of people can't stand Red Dead 2, but at no time at all did the feeling of it not being a living world leave me and I don't know exactly why that should be as pretty much everything in it is just window-dressing to a certain extent, but it's that feeling of suspension of disbelief that works in that and - so far at least - doesn't quite in Cyberpunk.

Don't get me wrong, Night City is an awesome graphical spectacle for sure. There are moments when you're walking along and things look so real you kind of have to blink a little but it doesn't have the 'soul' of a living place for me at the moment.

I think it may well eventually be able to have this, but there's clearly a lot of hard work still left to get this to a place where I think it probably needs to be. Where it probably deserves to be maybe.

Heh, I said it before, it's The Witcher 3 all over again. For as many people that aren't having major issues (across all formats), there are equally those who are finding it a completely unplayable, broken mess. The same questions asking things like 'why even release it on consoles?' were asked about Witcher 3.

Nowadays Witcher 3 is revered. I expect similar with this, provided the game's story is up to muster (so far so good on that front). But I am genuinely surprised that so many are surprised at how bad this is at launch. Some people clearly have really short memories.

New hotfix to Cyberpunk 2077 is now live on PlayStation consoles and PC. For Xbox systems, we are working to have the update out as soon as possible. Here is the list of changes:

Quests

Fixed an issue with completing the final objective in Gig: Freedom of the Press.

Fixed an issue with starting conversation with Johnny at the end in Life During Wartime.

Corrected a rare issue with NPCs no longer calling V if A Like Supreme quest was abandoned mid-way.

Fixed an issue with Nix not going into his default state in _Spellbound _and KOLD MIRAGE.

Fixed issues blocking progress in I Fought The Law if the quest area is left.

Fixed inability to find Delamain in Epistrophy.

Fixed issues related to remaining in the second phase of the quest after finishing Pacifica fight with Ozob if played after Finals.

Fixed an issue with Nomads no longer present if V leaves the quest area mid-combat in With a Little Help from My Friends/Queen of the Highway.

Adjusted mappings and re-enabled quest tracker in M'ap Tann Pèlen/I Walk the Line/Transmission.

Fixed constraints on freedom to get up and sit down if neither blueline condition is met in Violence.

Fixed issues with time and space resulting from leaving the quest area or abandoning the quest in Following the River.

Fixed an issue with conversation with Johnny not starting after leaving the hotel in Tapeworm.

Fixed an issue with quest being blocked upon leaving the quest area before climbing the hill in Following the River.

Fixed the objective “Go into booth 9” not completing if the room’s entered too fast in Automatic Love.

Fixed Jackie’s issues with sitting still in The Ripperdoc.

Other quest fixes

Gameplay

Fixed the preview in weapon crafting.

Visual

Reduced vehicle appearance pop-in.

Speeded up switching first person perspective to third person perspective in a vehicle.

Fixed issues with animations missing from important quest NPCs during cinematics.

Performance & Stability

Improved stability, including various crash fixes.

Miscellaneous

Modified the flashing effect on braindances to reduce the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms. The effect has been smoothed out and the flashes reduced in frequency and magnitude.

Removed copyrighted songs incorrectly present in the game with "Disable Copyrighted Music" feature toggled on.

PC-specific

Switching language to default in the in-game settings now correctly sets it to the language of your Steam client.

Any game that names a mission after a Talking Heads song is okay with me.

Yeah. Like many games that pack in a lot of environment padding “stuff” but none of it has any depth. And three guys standing next to each other in one early room are either triplets or the same model.

I quite like it (PC, RTX2070) but the start of the story is a mess. The first BD session though - that is genius.
