I think that's being hugely unfair to GRRM. He built this world and wrote these characters. Say what you will about the endless travelling etc, but GRRM was committed to maintaining the worlds logic and rules and the TV series is sorely lacking in that area now. Yes, the early seasons were excellent adaptations but that's all they were. It's pretty clear now that GRRM is out of the picture and Benioff and Weiss are having to create rather than adapt that their work isn't a patch on his.

I think a lot of people are saying if only GRRM was involved in this season would be amazing, but I found the last two books lacked the tightness and structure of the first four and if D&D actually stay true to some of his story lines people would be up in arms, for example,

Tyrion becoming an entertainer with Penny, a pig riding dwarf with a heart of gold, they pair have a painfully awkward will "they won't they" vibe

. GRRM is amazing at plotting but sometimes this can come at the cost of pace and I think some of the problems with this series, like characters having to come together for "plot" will be the same problems GRRM will face himself.

I think that Fox was right that D&D adapting GRRM's amazing plotting and dialogue, but cutting away what doesn't work and pairing up characters so they work better would be the best mix.

I'm just saying that I don't think GRRM would be some kind of magic bullet to solve all the series problems, or that we should lay all the blame on D&D but I do think his involvement would have probably helped iron out some of the issues of this season.

I honestly didn't have much of a problem with this episode, and I still think overall GoT one of the most entertaining shows there's ever been.

I was a bit surprised though to find out that Arya's mysterious shape-shifting abilities that have taken her years to train for actually turned out to be a bag of literal rubber masks that she hides under her bed.

Yeah, kinda funny how they were right there under the bed like that instead of being hidden better #Istillbelievedammit

Honestly I think both the books and the series have gone off the rails a bit as they've progressed, but at least the show has remained hugely entertaining in the process.  Large parts of those last two books were just a slog to get through.

Plus of course we know the show is actually going to reach a conclusion.  I don't think the books ever will, at least not with GRRM as the author.

It made me think that those Faceless Men travel with a lot of luggage. The more faces they amass over the years, the bigger the carts they need to hire to go anywhere. Or at least rent sone storage space somewhere. Those plastic faces take up more spave than you'd think!

Tyrion is supposed to be a master tactician, but his army just lost a dragon and a mage to capture one zombie. Think about that in chess terms. Its like he sacrificed a rook and a queen for a pawn

Its shit like that which is making people write articles like this:

Hate on it for fast travel, chains, etc but if you think Tyrion is supposed to be a master tactician, you're not paying attention. Indeed, he says to his father in Season 1 I believe that he's better at understanding people than war (I paraphrase but the gist is clear).

That would also give Bran some more purpose this season.

Bran is probably a bit of a headache for the writers at the moment. He knows so much, now, that there's only so much he can say to other characters on screen before it starts ruining the intrigue of the show for viewers. But he's in Winterfell, surrounded by people and plots, not off in a remote cave where no-one gives a toss what Littlefinger is up to, so they can't just ignore that.

(Or can they? I do like his flashbacks, they're much better than Arya's attempt.)

That's news to me too. How sweet. Mind you I'd be getting a bit jelly if I was Rose, Kit Harringtons acting with Dany  (dunno the girls real name) is pretty damned convincing. They look ready to fall into each others arms, or loins, at any second. Gotta give props to the actors, they really sell the chemistry between those two.

A YouTube guy on his channel Emergency Awesome described Bran's role in the show now as the Exposition Potato. Which sums it up perfectly, I think.

Also, prediction: it will be revealed that Jon Snow's true name is Aemon Targaryon, purely so that in the scene in the first series/book when Jon realises who Maester Aemon is and says "you're Aemon Targaryon," the viewer will go "Aha! So are you, Jon! OMG, the foreshadowing!"
