I'm genuinely amazed that people are complaining that the series is moving too quickly, and that they aren't spending enough time explaining where the army of zombies got a big chain from. The series is actually moving forward now; long-established characters are meeting up and getting into conflict with each other; armies are clashing; the plot is developing; things are happening. This is a good thing.

I get the sense that they're having to make up a bit more ground than they would ideally like to do because they spent an entire series on Bran being dragged to the other end of the country in real time, or had Sansa looking confused for five series in a row. They're doing stuff with Sansa in particular that they should have been doing years ago, but it's no less welcome for it.

Tyrion is supposed to be a master tactician, but his army just lost a dragon and a mage to capture one zombie. Think about that in chess terms. Its like he sacrificed a rook and a queen for a pawn

Its shit like that which is making people write articles like this:

It's fundamentally simpler and less rich than the earlier series (1-4). This is nothing to do with it being near the end. I can guarantee that if Martin every finishes the books, there will be much more detail than in the series. The reason it's all so fast/rushed is that they decided to make only two more seasons instead of the number really needed to finish off the story. That's their prerogative, but we are clearly seeing the results of this decision.

No, we do not. We are seeing that some things are rushed and not well thought out, yes. But we are also seeing results, theories and epic moments coming to fruition after six years of build up. It is richer in action and major moments than characterization, for example, which makes sense. It could have been better, yes.

But no matter how many articles @kerraig UK posts, the show is far from terrible.

The Dragon and the Wolf.

Tourney at Harrenhal please!!!!

Some sex too?

I know what the title of the thread says, but I think the lines have been a little blurred lately, and mostly only for the positive. But what do we think about sharing the story of The Knight of the Laughing Tree?

It's a cool little story and there are no spoilers in it. I feel it just might enrich non book reader's or forgetful book reader's viewing?

@Wickedkitten do you have a good link to it?

Jon is gonna bang his auntie isn't he

Personally don't think the KotLT story needs to be posted here, if we do end up with that flashback in Ep7 then it is sort of a spoiler.

I don't think anyone is really saying it is terrible are they? Well i'm not. I'm still enjoying the spectacle and payoff after years of build up.

It feels a little rushed and maybe it is not as amazing as the 10/10, balls out, some-of-the-greatest-TV-ever that the first few series were. Some decisions are inconsistent and seem to lack a solid logic beyond furthering the plot. Risking the King in the North to grab a wight? To convince their enemy to join up with them?

And if the Sansa and Arya "stuff" this week is what passes for this season's attempt at a bit of intrigue and suspense well say no more really.

That said i'm still looking forward to the finale this week and seeing how the story ends but I have my worries they won't pull off a satisfying ending...

How? I'm not bothered about not sharing it, but how does it give away anything we don't already know?

It makes explicit what has so far only been inferred*.

Don't underestimate the amount of people watching the show who will still think Jon is Ned's son.

*spelled out pretty fucking clearly

Idk I can't remember if the show has even mentioned the Harrenhal Tourney? If it hasn't then obviously posting a story of what happens there is a spoiler, if we think there's a good chance they'll do a Bran flashback to it sometime soon.

Sharing anything that hasn't been on screen should be behind spoiler tags please. And mark what it is if that is OK.

Next week is going to be the Tsar Bomba of cliffhangers, I bet. It'll be the very definition of unsatisfying.

And no more episodes for two years I think right? They are skiping a year next year I think I read.

Oh boy...

I think that's still only a possibility rather than there having been absolute confirmation.

Noones saying its terrible here. We're saying the quality has drastically dropped and that it's a shame. You seem to be in massive denial. Like when i used to convince myself that spectrum were almost arcade perfect

The article you posted literally has the title ''thrones a terrible'' show, doesn't it?

I'm in denial if I don't agree that the quality of the show has dropped as much you claim? Ffs

Does it have bad moments? Certainly. But the show needed to step up, enough with the built up. The direction could have been better, as some of the plot mechanics, but it's still very good and has some of the better series moments.

Good to see that you agree finally.

I'm getting a 'hate wagon' sticker for my car.

If you are talking about me saying that it has bad moments, I have said that from the start, many pages ago, singling out what I believe are its major problems. I never said that the season doesn't have issues, but they are far from ruining the entire show as many people have suggested in here over and over.

George R. R. Martin has clearly come back for writing duty in order to give the right level of gravitas to Cleganebowl.

In series' past, the penultimate episode has been the big one, and the final episode more about rounding off a few stories and setting up next series, right? So he's going to be writing a few loooooong feasts where people talk to each other a bit.
