Fantastic episode. The ending was classic GoT.

One thing that bothers me... it takes the red woman and John Snow an episode to get to Dragonstone now? Yet Arya seems to be taking her time getting to King's Landing. I guess you have to suspend disbelief given it's the endgame and they don't have book material to pad things out, but it is jarring given how slow the show moved for the first four seasons and now characters seem to teleport around at the plot's convenience.

I've always assumed episodes aren't simply chronologically ordered, and that some things happening in one are overlapping things happening in the following. Jumping around the continents doesn't automatically equal jumping in time, unless we see something in that scene that proves time has passed.

So who, as a show watcher, would be up for spin offs?

I personally could watch hours of the universe they've created. Somehow, they've (he's) managed to create a world that is believably Middle Ages - Renaissance, so much so I feel, it's like an accurate representation of those years You almost forget there's magic and dragons; white walkers, Weirwoods and wildfire. It's very subtle fantasy (somehow), and I feel the balance is just right.

And the depth of civilisation and dynasty we've been shown leads me to feel I could watch mini stories from all over Westeros and Essos. Because of the period of time they are living in, they themselves are very reliant on their histories and legacies; their manuscripts and books. And by those we've actually gotten rather a few history lessons ourselves and I think many of them would make for exciting viewing.

The other clever factor is never truly feeling like there's a main character. Obviously there are characters we would hate to lose, but I don't feel I'm so in love with them that I'd hate and wouldn't tune in to a story about the world that didn't involve them.

From the construction of the wall and the First Men, to the building and development of cities like Qarth and more of Asshai; the history of Old Valyria and the Targaryen dynasty. Hell, let's see the invasion of Westeros and Balerion the dread! I'd personally enjoy it all, purely because I feel the depth of lore and history of civilisation is fully established and I feel we're watching something truly believable in history. It's solid and doesn't annoy me in the way other fantasies do.

I feel like you can write brilliant stories in any world, but at the same time forcing out stories just for the sake of it is often shite. I'd watch an adaptation of the Dunk and Egg stories, anything else my excitement would be based on who was running the show.

The writing and directing would be key to me enjoying it. You can have the best ingredients in the world, but if a complete clown throws them together then you end up with slop.

I'm not watching slop. But done well, there are lots of enjoyable stories to be told I think.

I'd prefer if they did the first law trilogy rather than spin offs.

I didn't want to specifically mention already planned or published works for fear of the anal book haters, but I mean these also, and would prefer them to be prioritised.

Where did Daenerys get a Winterfell raven to send?

Most castles/cities have a Maester I think? His duty is to serve whoever occupies it at the time, like a civil servant. I assume ravens would fall under a similar setup.

The castle had been abandoned.

Or he knows how to aquire them easily...

Like, maybe when he orangised an alliance with Olenna and  the sand snakes he said "oh bring some ravens with you when you come to Dragonstone, they will be handy when we are planning our invasion"

Quick ask: best GoT podcast? Obvs one that doesn't discuss the books ideally.

Cheers.

Not sure about the best, but the third best is Boars, Gore, and Swords - two American stand-ups recap each episode. It's more of an entertaining review of each episode rather than the kind of in-depth plot analysis you'd get from Cast of Kings, and obviously funny is in the eye of the beholder, but I really like it.
