Being a generalist Nintendo magazine, they'll only have to wait until the E3 reveal so they can instead fill their pages with all the announced multiplatform Wii U launch ports, it'll save anybody having to skip all the bottom of the barrel stuff magazines are forced to review when they specialise in a specific manufacturer without the release volume to fill the pages. Yeah, they just have to bide their time. And the 3DS is strong at the minute too (though you might not think it from this month's line up). It won't be like the last days of YS. They bounced from one journeyman editor to another, ending up with some guy who introduced a 'lifestyle' section (skateboarding etc.) saying that it was so that even after the Speccy was gone, the magazine could continue. Unless something's changed that I'm not aware of, we tend to post the scores alongside the review titles. I saw the quoted tweet above, but don't agree that it is reducing the review to a single digit. Although to be honest, isn't the system of assigning a score to a review meant to summarise the review to a single indicator of quality? Posting review scores along with the titles just provides an neat summary of what the magazine thought. If it's the text that's important, then try quoting all the reviews in their entirety. Potentially, someone could see what was in the mag and then decide to go out and buy it from that. I can understand Matt's Tweet - it is disappointing when you work hard on a publication and it's reduced to a number of scores that are then debated without the context of the words. I understand what you're saying, but that's just the nature of the beast really. Most people don't have time to read every review for every game, and so just reading the scores from numerous sources gives people a rough overview of what critical opinion is. I'm sure people who are seriously thinking of purchasing the games listed will consider purchasing the mag for a more detailed overview, but yeah, I have to say I'm with Naps on this one, removing the scores is just annoying. I'll want to see why a review gave a particular score, especially if it's something I'm interested in. If scores aren't posted here, they'll be on Gamerankings soon enough anyway... I don't see the point in getting too upset about it. The first thing I do when I get a mag is flick through the pages to see what's what, and most often if my eye lands on a score that I didn't expect that review will be one of the first things I read. Judging from some of Matt Castle's tweets recently, I'm a little worried that he's getting quite jaded with his regard for his work, or the public's apparent [dis?]regard for it. Or not. I dunno.
