Didn't know anything about this till just now, but now I need it. Eye of the Beholder 2 is one of my all-time faves.

Guessing my trusty Macbook won't be up to the job though (either via Bootcamp or the Mac version whenever it comes out).

See elsewhere, it runs fine on rubbish PCs. So you may as well try.

Nice to see name-checks for Captive and Bloodwynch, along with DM (obv) those were my jam back in the day. I don't think I ever played Eye of the Beholder as I had a crappy Amiga, not a 1200 till about 6 months before everyone switched to PCs.

I was up till 5am last night. Finally got past level 3! That was a nightmare with the -

Spiders

What a game, my fave of the year so far. And I went straight from ME3 to this :D

My wife's laptop won't run it, my old PC will though - it even comes very close to the recommended spec. Unfortunately my old PC is in a bit of a makeshift setup; it's connected but I have to move stuff around to use the keyboard and mouse which is a bit annoying. And if I switch it on I probably have to download 724 critical updates to Windows Vista. I'm dying to play this though, I really hope there'll be a Mac release soon.

This is really nice.

I dont have the time to play it at the moment, though, but when I do Im going to try and either write some macros or sort out some mods if theyre available. The interface is a bit too clunky for comfort and movement feels a bit too stop-starty (oops you slid into a manhole). Im not a clicker in WoW, and having to click on the separate attacks and sorting that out on the fly will prove a bit too cumbersome in the long run, I think. Will need access to all spells and attacks from keybindings.

Level 1 spoiler. Grrrrrrr

Missed the secret room right at the start. Nice boots in there too

That's the style of game it is. It's all about revving up the tension when you're engaged in the dance around multiple mobs trying to co-ordinate your attacks and cooldowns.

It's not cumbersome at all in the long run, it's just perfect for the kind of game it is. Take some time getting used to it, because if you haven't had any previous experience with this specific sub-genre, then it can feel weird at first after years upon years of MMO's and FPS games. Don't go making making keyboard shortcuts, you'll only spoil it for yourself. the spell-casting for example, is easy to get used to and you'll be casting like there's no tomorrow in no time - but when you're surprised by an enemy it leads to some great moments of sheer panic and fumbling spells and attacks and you have only yourself to blame. Great stuff.

Hmm, now that my PC is back in business again, I can download this To The Moon thing as well I suppose. Is it on Steam?

Nope.

Anyone willing to take any bets on how long it will be before Napole0n starts upgrading his PC? He already mentioned Steam, I give it 4 weeks, tops ;)

Oh this is ace! The only other game I've played like it before was a game called Undercroft on the iPhone, which was almost exactly the same EXCEPT it was completely turn based. Real time fights are HARD!!

And omg I got so stuck at the 'loose stone' glyph (for those who haven't played, its about 2 minutes in!!). I actually had to Google it. (Only because I didn't think to check nearby walls.

Will do, but I'm not at all confident. I may end up buying a new PC so I can play this and the forthcoming Kickstarter old school releases. Seems a little ironic.

Pretty sure I played Beholder 2 on an Amiga 500.

From their update linked above:

"Anyways, the development costs of the game have now been covered many times over so the future of the company seems pretty secure."

I think that deserves a cheer.

"Yaaaay".

I'm stuck right at the start of the 3rd floor. Something about a single pillar of light.

I've tried torches in all of the slots but am obviously missing something rather obvious. Any tips please?

Well, there *is* a single pillar in that very room which has three torch-slots on it...

Edit: this is also a classic example of the best tactic being to walk away and do something else for a bit when you're stuck on a puzzle, That works wonders with these kinds of games, and it's way more satisfying to figure it out yourself than consulting a guide. All the puzzles so far have fairly obvious solutions in hindsight.
