Never EVER download separate .dll files or finders to fix DX problems, god knows what kind of handy Russian app you're letting roam free on your PC. :)

Yeah I'll be berated by the mate who gave me the pc today :)

In other news. Wow this is amazing. Giving this two pages in the next issue. It'll be late sure, but feel I need to do my duty to get the word out.

You don't need a wand to cast spells, just clicking on a mages empty hand has the same effect. Spear guys can't hit you through gates, either (if that's what you meant)

My new team is doing quite well with a bit of specialisation/focus on talent trees. I have a human fighter who is an unarmed badass, a Minotaur fighter who's leet with swords, an lizardman rogue who can stab with ha pointy daggers from the back row, and an insectoid ice mage (freezing enemies for easy rogue backstab = WIN!).

Ah, its going a lot better this time. :D

Was hoping you would be giving it some coverage.. its almost the perfect retro reboot!

..although level 5 is kicking my arse at the moment.

So, in keeping with my crazy, I seem to have unlocked an achievement that I really don't remember seeing :D

Dungeon Hero:

Survive the invasion of white blobs. I really don't remember seeing any white blobs :(

What is this game doing to me :(

*clicks play*

Level 8 or 9 iron door - with all the side-stepping to stop the magic bolts hitting the receptors?

I do remember doing that puzzle, yeah. I guess I just didn't notice it pop up with an achievement.

I went with the default characters aswell and they're fine. The trait choices in hindsight were a bit odd (I'd have changed a couple), ditto with the initial allocation of skill points actually but it's not really a big deal. I'm starting to wish that I went for axes rather than maces, but that's just down to personal preference (I'd rather hit for a bit less but more consistantly).

Ah, now I didn't know that.

I know the spear guys can't get you through gates, but you can't take them on two at a time. All four will stab with their spears.

Oh my god I am shit at this.

I'm on level 2 at the

bit where you step on the pressure plate and all the skeletons start appearing. I have a level one mage still, no apparent spells and only a spear, machete and dagger. How the hell do I solve it?

There's also an area

of prisons that you are telported to. There's a skeleton in one of the prisons but when I press buttons nothing happens

It's a truly superb game, but I forgot to name my characters. Oh and does anyone know how you pick up one rock at a time? I have 3 and had to drop all to activate a pressure point. My review is also suffering because I turned off auto mapping lol.

Grabbed this yesterday based on the bit-tech.net review (hadnt heard of it before, and had somehow passed over this thread)

Wow! How good is this? Looks lovely. And only £8 and change!

Reminds me of my old paper and dice D&D days, and laterly Bards Tale on the Atari ST.

Currently roaming around level 3.

To Strider - when I had loads of skellies jump out at me (including the first 4 man "skelly squad" I'd met) they were raping me hard. Then I realised I could backtrack and make them follow me, and I lured them to a pit which had a rock over the pressure plate. I ran over the pit, picked up the rock and laughed heartily as the 4 spearmen fell to their deaths :)

In the room strider mentions there are a couple of tricks. I just dodged around them, sticking and moving - they're very slow - which makes them easy to defeat if you keep moving. You can get trapped in a corner if you're not careful though. There's an easier way to do it I think.

I got killed in that area a couple of times. You can swap positions mid-fight if your two front guys are getting hammered. Also don't panic if one of your party dies - they get resurrected at the blue save crystals. I re-loaded my save a few times until I realised that.

The Iron Doors are a nice touch. Solved the first two ok, the second one in particular made me smile. I imagine they get quite fiendish later on?

Yes, but there's always a hint around. If you're willing to explore they're all quite doable (so far)

richt-click on mortar'n pestle, add one flask and ingredients to the window that pops up, new potion appears instantly. Drag it to you inventory to collect. You'll find recipes along the way, the first being health and antivenom potion recipes.

FUCKING SPIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. I really love the game, but the spiders really freak me out, and there are loads of them. I hate anything like that though, headcrabs in Half Life and the bloody Rad-scorpions in Fallout 3. It's the first-person perspective that makes it worse.

Bad news. They ain't dead. I hope there weren't any nice secret goods down that pit...

Bloody hell, some of the puzzles go a wee bit far later on. Cryptic's not the word.

Thankfully, most of them are for bonus items, but there's been a few that get in the way of progression which aren't really as clear cut as I'd have hoped for.

For those who've been that far, level 9's last big puzzle is a great example of what I mean.

You know, the one where you have to have been lugging a skull, an arrow, a rock and a key around with you just in case you come across a puzzle which just so happens to need a skull, an arrow, a rock and a key. If not, backtracking joy awaits.

Getting near the end, but there are now many hard enemies. And one type can't seem to take damage?!? They were on the level previous too.

I started a party from scratch on hard old-school mode. Realised I can't be arsed playing again so soon. Will stick to my original party till I'm done I guess. Hoping for new dungeons soon.
