Was about time they changed the spoiler filled thumbnail for that youtube video.

Didn't know they had done a full length one although chances are when I find it to watch i'll remember I've watched it but forgotten about it.

Me and the girlfriend have decided to work our way through the Ring franchise. We've started with the 98 Japanese film, not knowing there was a version in 95 that wasn't released outside of Japan. Mayyybe we'll backtrack for that at some point.

The original was good, not as good as I remember the US version being, but good.

The first sequel, Rasen/Spiral...was fucking gash. So very bad, though quite funny in its ridiculousness.

I think out of the rest I've only seen the American ones and don't recall any but the first one being any good.

For those of you who've seen the lot, is this worth persisting with or are ALL the sequels shite?

See if you can find the TV Series that was pretty good. It's been a good couple of decades since I've seen it so it maybe just fond memories for the time.

I believe it was Chinese but don't quote me on that.

Oh and don't waste your time with any of the Sadako VS bollocks they released either.

I'm very intrigued by Sadako 3D and its sequel. Some of the lowest IMDb ratings I've ever seen.

Anyway, we took a side step and watched Ju-on last night. Really enjoyed that. Looking forward to the 2nd one.

Yeah, I mean, I've watched Killer Sofa and Slaxx, so if took in the vein of that kind of comedy you'll be OK.

Yeah it's meant to be silly fun, much in the vein of Jason Vs Freddy. It's not canon and I find it stupidly entertaing.

Watched 'Some like it Rare' recently and found it thoroughly enjoyable.

French film about a couple who run a butchers, who develop a taste for vegans.

Not scary at all, but some nice butchery and plenty of fun.

That M3gan film is out there. Gonna watch it as soon as kiddo sleeps.

The above two are going on the list too 👍

Let us know if it's as funny as it looks.

The dancing advert was cracking me up at St Pancras the other week.

We watched M3GAN tonight too. There's some rally good stuff in there but I wish they hadn't gone for the PG-13 rating in the US because it made all the deaths really tame with most off screen. Would have liked more over the top stupid kills.

I thought M3GAN was fun! You’ve seen it all before

One predictable bit in particular I loved:

Spoiler

As soon as you saw the old tech robot, I looked at the person I was watching with and nodded. We all know, every goddamn time, what happens when new tech gets out of control. The old tech is the only thing that can stop it. Love that shit.

Anyone watched The Cursed? Also known as Eight For Silver. Really enjoyed this and really beautifully shot. Brutal stuff in there near the beginning, as well.

Yeah, just caught this. Moody, creepy, decently gory with a modern Hammer vibe. It's obviously not new, 2021, but it was new to me. Really enjoyed it.

I'd go so far as to say it's bloody excellent.

They are all fucking terrible, yes.

We watched Ring 2 last night. Somehow it was even worse than Spiral. How they got two bites at the sequel cherry and fucked them both up so bad I'm not sure. We're very reluctant to carry on this quest now. Are any of the rest at least terrible in a funny way? Ring 2 was just a fucking snorefest.

The Ju-on films have been great so far though. Watched the first four now and they've all been good.

I watched Watcher the other night. Slow, but builds a nice atmosphere. Maika Monroe is great, as always. One thing I noticed, and I've seen other people pick up on this, is just how impeccably dressed she is in this. I mean, I'm no fashion expert, but you just get a sense of someone being effortlessly stylish. Anyhoo, worth a watch. Especially if you like Maika!

The full length film is worth a watch. Has some very fun set pieces.

The full film was ace. I rewatched it again recently and it's still good. Total recommendation from me.

I watched The Lair over the weekend as it has just appeared on Shudder and can honestly say if I didn't know it was Neil Marshall I would expect it to be a first time director. It's properly crap but after a few beers I was finding it hilarious. Charlotte Kirk shows an ability for acting that sets her up for an extras part on a daytime soap. She really is wooden and has an accent that wobbles around the country seemingly at whim. In fact, all of the acting is shocking apart from the Afghani soldier they capture, he really is head and shoulders above them in ability. Jamie Bamber also seems to be channeling Solid Snake with the most ridiculous American accent and it also has one of the most comical Welsh accents I've ever heard in a film or TV show.

Kirk co-wrote it with Marshall and it's one of the most generic, scene stealing scripts that I've seen. It so wants to be Aliens but comes across as a dodgy 80s straight to video film that would be one of the last left in Blockbusters on a Saturday night.

The creature effects are appalling and seemingly consist of men running around in rubber suits. The gore is passable but it's just a shame that somebody so obviously gifted as Marshall now insists on having his other half in all his films which wouldn't be bad if she could act, but she cannot. The Descent was an absolute classic and hopefully he can get back to making genuinely scary, good films.
