Is there a good video recap of MGS that I can watch repeatedly until this comes out?

Maybe start with the Peace Walker 'movie' on youtube? I've done that and it definitely gives a lot more context for the events in GZ and I imagine TPP as well. Also, listening to all the tapes in Ground Zeroes is highly recommended as they give you a lot of background info on some of the main characters in TPP.

quick question, i just got this free with a gtx 970 and am looking forward to it! But, should i get ground zeros and play that through first??

I'd certainly watch a playthrough for the story if nothing else, but it's still a good little game in its own right. The plot mission should only take you an hour or two, but there are a bunch of other challenges on there that reuse the same map in interesting ways.

It's a bit pricey for what it is though, although as you've basically got MGSV for free that might not be so much of an issue.

Eurogamer have put this out. Its more of an overview than highly detailed but seems ok-ish for getting to know the important stuff (if you can stomach the presentation style)

I've put about 12 hours in GZ and am sitting at 74% completion rate. So if anything it's incredible value.

I knew somebody would say that. :P

There's a lot you can get out of it if you're after perfect ranks, collectables and multiple difficulty levels. I'm just saying don't expect too much. You could play through MGS3 a bunch of times in different ways, but just because you could spend a hundred hours on it doesn't make it a one hundred hour game.

Ground Zeros is great anyway, despite its length. I've bought it twice, so I'm really not trying to say it's not worth it.

You're right Mogster, but I would say that because of how short the missions are and how small the map is in comparison in GZ it's much easier to replay than MGS3 is. I've put over a day into it myself and still feel like there's plenty of fun to be had just replaying the different missions. It's like a fifa game in a way in that there's a relatively small map, but the fun is in the replayability.

Only people endowed with Spacehost's and/or Alex W.'s rare intelectual capabilities are able to make some sense of the MGS storyline(s). And even then, rumour has it that they regularly get hooked up to a machine that allows them to surpass their own limitations by temporarily fusing their neural networks and taking them into the realms of true superhuman conciousness. In that state, they sometimes manage to see and understand Kojima's vision quite clearly.

Most of the times however, they simply end up writing letters to Edge's readers' section.

Haven't seen this myself but maybe this is helpful for some?

That was quite good actually. Confused me a bit with 2 bits though;

- He claims that Ocelot is one of Big Boss's sons? Really? That wasn't apparent in MGS3 at all was it?

- Solid Snake was injected with foxdie to kill everyone he came across but Ocelot and Octacon seem fine many years later in MGS 2 and 4?

Not quite. If I remember correctly, Foxdie is a programmable human virus that kills only those it has been programmed to, administered via a carrier (Solid Snake in MGS1). Those two weren't on its list.
