Just ordered too. I've not seen anything since that first open world-y demo at E3. Oh man. OH MAN.

Kojima's swansong. It's going to be so epic.

Hoping we get a good crew together for multiplayer shenanigans, too! I've gone PS4 over PC for that very reason, actually..most people I will end up playing with have PS4s, hope a bunch of you idiots are up for some competitive tactical espionage online. :omg:

Yes! I'm upgrading to the current Gen just for this and DS3 - and this will likely be my first on-line game - so will need some 'mukkers to hide in a box from.

Chucked Ground Zeroes on the other day and I still can't click with it. Is it fair to say it's a very different breed of stealth to the others? Three is the only one I finished, and I remember it feeling cool but structured.

GZ feels less structured. More like the only way to figure out if you'll be seen is to play it loads and get a sense of sight lines etc.

Shame, because I am still inevitably going to buy TPP based on those gameplay videos alone.

You need to wing it more in GZ. Being spotted isn't instant disaster on Normal, and once you get an idea of what it's telling you- more music cues for "guy is interested in you", a visual indicator of who is looking for you actively- it clicks into place more. It's not your dad's MGS, but you need to be cautious, aware, and ready to knock a guy out super quick.

It's a vertical slice, I'd expect TTP to start of easier and build to GZ levels over the course of hours. Don't worry if it feels hard; it is. GZ doesn't handhold you into things, you need to work at it a lot.

Ordered. Cheers. If it doesn't work you're obviously legally responsible for my refund ^_^

Quite rightly. He's got a message on the item saying when you can expect the keys. Mine's not arrived so had to inbox him:

Delivery: 20th of August ( 1 week and half before the release date ! plenty of time to pre load ) !! THOSE WHO BOUGHT BEFORE THE 8TH OF AUGUST WILL RECEIVE THEIR STOCK ON THE 10th-12th OF AUGUST !!!

THOSE WHO BOUGHT BEFORE THE 8TH AND DID NOT SEE ANY CODE IN THE INBOX MESSAGE ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO CHECK THE TRANSACTION AND MANUALLY WRITING THE CODE TO YOU ! Sometimes the automated delivery software catches a glitch...

EDIT: he responded really fast with the key, and it's successfully activated in Steam now!

I can't help but think that this coming out on PS3 and 360 as well may have hampered the potential of this somewhat.

Accidentally negged this whilst trying to quote on phone :(

Anyway, you're probably right because the game by definition can't do anything that the last gen consoles can't handle, but on the other hand because it doesn't do anything that the last gen consoles can't handle is likely the reason we're getting 60fps on current gen :)

Yeah, that's probably true, but it's not much of a consolation because, now, a proper next gen MGS will be happening without Kojima and we will probably never see what he would be able to do with the power of the new machines.

Hoovering up all of the Giant Bomb Metal Gear Scanlon content has made my excitement for MGSV go into overdrive. Prior to all that, I didn't really give a shit at all.

And it's taken me completely by surprise as to why - as great as I think the game will play (having just finished Ground Zeroes), I've found myself most interested in the continuation of the MSF era story. Dan and Drew's series has been unexpectedly comprehensive in detailing just exactly what has been going on in the MGS universe up until this point, highlighting and explaining plot stuff that I remember being mostly oblivious to when I originally played the first 4 games (the whole Big Boss/Cipher side of things for example).

I've since watched the Peace Walker movie on Youtube (I have the game in the HD collection but I just couldn't be bothered to play it) and also watched all the MGSV trailers up to this point, back to back, to squeeze out every last drop of plot I could before Phantom Pain lands on 1st September. I feel like I've have finally discovered Kojima's wacky story telling genius...and I want more damnit!

Except for watching all of the MGSV trailers (are you crazy?!) I'm exactly the same. :D

Even though Dan manages to get things wrong on a regular basis, the comment section thankfully points out any major plot points and wrong explanations by him.

My hype levels are through the roof and if the game is anything like GZ then we're in for a treat. I mean I've already put 10 hours into the prologue alone and there's still plenty more stuff to do and unlock. I can only imagine how big TPP is going to be! Good times with Kojima.

Probably.

Peace Walker and the Paz tapes in GZ made me really interested in hearing exactly what that character is all about in more depth. Then she got blown up at the end of GZ so I figured "oh well". However, seeing her reappear in one of the trailers with the same scar and the same age despite TPP taking place years later has made things twice as interesting so I'm pretty glad I watched them. Also flaming torch guy and the space whale and the fiery horse....its going to take more than nano-machines for Kojima to explain that!

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/08/20/konami-confirms-no-pc-pre-load-for-metal-gear-solid-5-the-phantom-pain

Konami has confirmed that there will be no pre-load option for players purchasing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC. In a Twitter exchange with fans,

online community manager Robert Allen Peeler stated that it was "pretty common practice for PC/Steam users", but didn't have "a specific reason"."Unfortunately PC Steam will not have a preload option," said Peeler on Twitter. "However players will be able to preload on console."

I wasn't going to be a 12.01 player - but I might have wanted to be a day 1 player...how big is it does anyone know?
