Congrats @mrben09 :)

Has anyone had issues with loading Nordschlieffe Tourist through content manager with the shader pack applied? It just starts with me falling through the scenery as the backgrounds haven't rendered. Launching the same car and track from Assetto Corsa is fine. Tried a reinstall of the DLC and no difference.

Vallelunga is fine.

It doesnt load properly for me using Content Manager, or AC to launch it

Not the end of the world if I can't get it working this way as can just launch from AC and skip Content Manager. Just tested Laguna Seca and the normal Nordschliefe there and it's also working fine.

Great selection of cars for the tourist session!

I'll be in my favourite 60s 🐷

I've been flipping between various cars, and can't really decide.  Was thinking an open-top of some sort, but I really want to give the LaFerrari a go so this is the current front runner!

Thanks a lot to Erik for sorting out a server for us after the simracing.gp fiasco. I got a black screen, twice. It turned out I lacked a content pack, which I purchased so I could race for 20 secs with you guys.

Oh boy, you could tell I haven't raced online in AC for ages.

First the start. I put it in first gear before the green light, but that prevented me from revving the engine in advance so I sliiiightly moved forward before I realised I was doing it wrong. Slammed the brakes, warned everyone (excessively - sorry) and then the green light flashed and I hit the throttle...but without revving the engine it stalls and you just creep forward. Seems like @davejm had the same issue hahaha!

Then arriving at the first corner, there was a coming together of several cars in front of Dave and I. One of the cars came back perpendicular to the racing line and I T-boned them, damaging my front wing and -suspension as a result. The car was still pretty drivable but it was clear my lap times suffered from the extra drag. Spun a few times and that destroyed the wing completely and made the car handle worse, which took its toll on the tyres. At the end of the race it handled like a rabid dag.

It was good fun though, and we should definitely play AC more often like this. Next time - Royal raceway (Mario Kart 64 mod) in go-karts!

I hope there's a replay of this as it sounded ace in theory. I looked at the requirements of getting it set up, remembered the last time I tried to play AC and just what a miserable experience of UI/UX it was and decided to play Sea of Thieves instead.

There's a lot to set up beforehand which takes ages, so doing it last minute is not an option. If you want, I can help you set it all up?

I've got the whole replay saved.  I'm away for a couple of days but I'm planning on uploading some of it :)

It's so worth it though, in many ways AC is a better game than ACC.  Content Manager takes all the pain out of the UI, but again it does take a bit of setup and getting used to.

Yes please. It'd be nice to get it all set up if there's more of this racing going on.

If only to see the chaos of people going from GT3/4 into single seater open wheel Racers negotiating the first corner.

Yep, great fun in the little single seaters.  Cant believe I threw a win in the bin.  I was over 4 seconds in the lead from @SneakyNinja at one point.

I did keep the fastest lap though...

Nah, I  would've caught you eventually*

I was quite pleased with my lucky start and eventual podium position considering I'd only done a few laps in practice and only just about knew the track well enough to not (always) need the map.

Sounds silly but my biggest issue was the low sun blinding me. I had to physically duck down on the first few bends each lap to be able to see the track. The wonders of VR!

*may be a lie.

Agreed - as a relative newcomer to AC and PC racing in general it was a bit overwhelming to start with. But as Sharky says, Content Manager makes a big difference.

ACC is a better sim of a very narrow form of motorsport, no question.

If you like more than GT3 cars or slower GT3 cars with the downforce thrown in the skip, then AC is a much better idea.

It's definitely worth it. I'll PM you the details asap and guide you through sometime next week.

  • 2 weeks later...

Holy crap, that's intense in VR! I've yet to complete a lap without a broken windscreen, but what a great track - thanks for the recommendation.  If/when I complete a lap, I'll post them. Whereabouts is that screen you used to list your times?
