englishbob
I never check how long a series is by it's amount of episodes (sorry, "season" ffs) when I start it because I don't want to second guess when its going to wrap up. I've been really busy recently due to certain home circumstances, so I've not had the time or patience to be able to sit down for long before I have to go and do something else (cooking, cleaning, driving, chores, working etc.) As a bit of lightweight things to watch I chose the "Young Sheldon" show to watch (yeah I know, but the character of Dr. John Sturgis sucked me in, wonderful piece of casting). Anyway - 3 months later this morning I'm eating breakfast watching what turned out to be the last episode of season 3 and then it just ended. In the back on my mind I'd read there where more seasons out, but Netflix doesn't have them. Turns out it's languishing a bit in exclusive rights hell, there are 3 more seasons - season 4 potentially out in November 2022 - then 5 late 2023 and then unknown for 6. Titus Andromedon's desperate attempts to get this gig would have made a good Kimmy Schmidt episode, initially blowing it after insisting on singing the theme tune as a 10 minute long Broadway extravaganza, and then via some complex hijinks ending up hopelessly overacting but unrecognisable in the Tinky Winky costume.
Silent Runner
I got the email about the new 'Profile Transfer' feature aka no more account sharing. As soon as my sister, parents and nephews lost their access I'll be cancelling - I don't watch anything on it anymore, their film catalog doesn't seem to have anything pre-90's and 'Pretty Little Liars' is going at the end of the month. Art Vandelay
Unsolved Mysteries is some enjoyable nonsense if you don't engage your analytical mind for more than a few seconds.
Monkeyboy
I was reading up on the ad supported version they’re going to launch, and it’s a bit shit isn’t it? Obviously the adverts, but also one screen only and a catalogue that’s missing 10% of the higher non-advert tier. Sign me up! Not!
Floyd
I just finished watching 'The Watcher'. Spoiler What an absolute cop out of an ending. How on earth can do build up and tease so much then not reveal who it is at the end? I know, I know, they're setting up another series but they could have still have done that and revealed who the watcher was! They could have set up the next series as a new watcher or the back story of the watcher, but no. Or maybe we were never supposed to find out who it was.... I dunno Anyway, It was ok overall. It's got good acting and it's well directed. I don't know if I can recommend it....maybe if there's absolutely nothing else to watch.

In real life, they never caught the person sending the letters. It's a weird and fascinating story if you read up on it, and I think the TV show captured that. I think the ending is pretty good, leaning into a satire on property ownership, and how people can covet -- and obsess over -- the "dream house". Art Vandelay
I loved The Watcher. I think once I twigged what it was trying to do it all fell into place. I think.
Mawdlin
I'm enjoying The Mole, but you need to get past the first episode which is by far the worst and doesn't really capture the escape room-esque skulldugery at its peak. Shades of Survivor, Now Get Out of That and The Adventure Game.
ckny
I thought The Watcher Spoiler had potential when Bobby Cannavale's character went on to become The Watcher himself. I thought that would have been a satisfying explanation, that each previous owner becomes so tormented by the letters and resentful at having to move that they go on to become the next Watcher. However that's not the way the story went, and it was ultimately a waste of time.
Art Vandelay
Spoiler Didn't they leave enough ambiguity for that to be the case though? I thought that the structure that emerged was that it was a series of campfire stories which may or may not have been true, but that ultimately didn't matter. I think they were just trying to comment on greed and envy, with the house being the battleground for that to happen. I also wondered if there's was a bit of a dig at traditional conservative values turning a blind eye to genuine nutcases if it helps further their cause with the last preservation society meeting. Mia Farrow was presumably happy to ignore John Graff's past (which was strongly hinted at actually being true) because he was useful at keeping things how they should be. I dunno, maybe. I enjoyed the ambiguity and it's pretty daring to have a whodunnit without the who. I've certainly thought about it a lot. They'll probably knockout another series and it was a ghost all along now I've said that.
Festoon
I thought the end of The Watcher was perfect as it was. And I thought they made it clear what was happening, no?
JohnC
The Watcher is getting another season. And Monster is getting two more, based on two other monstrous figures, who have not yet been disclosed (or maybe even decided).
Fierce Poodle
The Watcher was absolute drivel. Felt like something Ryan Murphy knocked out in his lunch break.

probotector
I realised Netflix is now £16.99 for the top package! Ive dropped it to the 5.99 720p package!
dumpster
Netflix's and supported service will face massive competition from Amazon's FreeVee service. That's ad supported as well but doesn't require any membership at all. I watched Killer Sofa last night and the adverts were only intrusive in that they don't wait for a natural break. The actual ads were never more than a minute. Netflix asking for £5 a month with ads is shit.
Barnard
I can't believe Netflix commissioned a Graham Hancock series of pseudoscience bollocks. It was top 4 in the UK today, mostly i reckon because he was on Joe Rogan. I think there are a lot of secret Joe Rogan listeners in the UK thinking that listening to Rogan's guests makes them intellectual. (The visuals in the show are pretty awesome)

DeciderVT
Just finished Kleo and really enjoyed it. We decided to watch it in German with English subs but the only English subtitles were closed caption. Bit annoying.
Illyria
Yeah I almost watch everything with English subs. At some point something changed, I don't know why it's become the norm to just offer closed caption as the only option these days. I've gotten used to it for the most part but I feel your pain! And yay, so happy you enjoyed Kleo!!
Garwoofoo
We also watch most stuff with subtitles by default these days and closed captioning is almost always the only option on streaming services. Blu-rays sometimes offer both though. It is annoying, and occasionally it makes things very difficult. The Amazon Prime version of "Everything Everywhere All At Once" overlays the baked-in subtitles for sections where the characters are speaking Chinese with a big closed caption subtitle saying "<SPEAKING CHINESE>" which of course means you can't read what they are actually saying.
Sidewaysbob
I started watching "half bad - the bastard son & the devil himself" last night after a bottle of wine. It has the strong wiff of teenage YA about it and I couldn't escape the vague feeling of twilight about it. But there was more than enough claret being thrown around and mystery for me to continue with episode 2 tonight. It has that vaguely Britishness about that it's relatable but set designs are a bit lacking. If you know what I mean. It doesn't have that neflick money shine over it. But the characters are pretty good. The sister is superbly sinister and psychotic. And the lead actor has enough of that "bloody hell what's happening here" about him that I want to know where it goes
multi
Just finished the first episode of 1899 (from the same people who made Dark) My word, that was so weird and wonderfully creepy. There was a total WTF moment early on, in the ships dining room, that convinced me this going to be good. Spoiler Where out of the blue, every one in there takes a drink from their lovely china tea cups at the same time. Totally unsure if within the plot that actually happened or if it was a figment of the lady doctors mind. I've got no fucking idea what's going on and none of the characters appear to be who they are on the surface of things, everyone looks to be hiding something dark (haha). But that was a superb starter. The score is very very good too and the episode ended with a classic song. Going in for number 2 now and I really hope it stays as good as that was. Here's a short trailer, but I recommend not watching it and going in blind unless you feel you have to.
