Whatevs man. Stigweard said it, not me.

"I don't think you have that right at all"

As in you don't have the right to criticize this because ???

 wtf are you on about? At no point were they criticising something or I was saying you can't criticise something. You've literally made that up in your own head there.

They said "Imagine a music festival now with most of its attendees in its late teens and twenties – just wouldn’t happen."

Except it does happen and this weekend 2 are actually happening. The target audience at Leeds/Reading is late teen/early twenties. Now if they said it was because of funds to attend a festival, I'd have understood, but you still do get festivals full of young people.

This conversation about the youth at festivals reminded me a festival that happened this Summer at the park near me where attendees in their late 20s were considered creepy 😂 And this tweet.

Video contains bum so consider NSFW.

The most condescending emoji ever. Hierophant used to use it a fucking lot. It's the mark of an idiot

Oh do fuck off 🙄

You really have just made up some argument in your own head here that wasn't there to begin with. Even others have pointed that out.

Man, you must really hate Nu Metal that much huh?

Don't give me the "oh fuck off" treatment please just because you like unfashionable music.

I don't hate anything (except Tories and nu metal) and nor have I made anything up about anything.

You literally said to someone, and I quote here

"I don't think you have that right at all"

Relating to someone who doesn't like the music genre that you do. It's an opinion, it doesn't need policed by nu metal guardians like you, you fucking nugget.

By nugget there I obviously mean dopey cunt, but that would get me a ban so I won't say that.

He meant right as in “correct” not “entitlement.”

Ok, I kind of want to jump up and high five you now, nu metal is obviously total shit, but I'm feeling like you're throwing a bit of shade on me at the same time because I've had a go at stigweard, your son

I'm conflicted now.

What to do??

You're being super weird multi. You've picked up the conversation totally wrong and continue to run with the wrong interpretation.

Person A: "Imagine a music festival now with most of its attendees in its late teens and twenties – just wouldn’t happen. Music isn’t a cultural force like it was in relatively recent living memory, certainly not for the younger age groups."

Person B: "I don't think you have that right at all, there's plenty catering for young people that still sell out. I mean right now Leeds and Reading is taking place which is exactly the festival for teenagers and people in their 20s."

It was a conversation about there being no festivals for young people when there are. Not a comment on nu-metal. Not an opinion, but a statement of fact about there being festivals.

Ok, thank you for your thoughts there @JohnC

Cool imagined convo there

This fucking place, FFS.

I was the right age for nu-metal and as an angry, young, WWF attitude era watching teen, it was the music I consumed. Would rarely listen to it now though, except in an ironic way. Like the musical equivalent of watching The Room.

Yeah ok, don't fucking give it the false concern for me @Darren , I can do without that shit

I'll just be off to bed  then.

But yeah, I'm ok thanks, if that was genuine question? Goodnight

I'll have to re-read this whole bunch of shit tomorrow unfortunately, and probably be embarrassed but I'm sure I started from a position I believed in (nu metal = shite)

Good fucking night all.

Fucking hell, this is ridiculous, all I was saying was that there are festivals for young people haha.

Anyway, to get this thread on track, I tired to watch Carter last night.

It's the first film I've turned off since 6 Underground. I very rarely turn things off but I couldn't stomach this film any longer. The concept sounds fun and it's full of off the wall action and violence but the director decided to film it in "one take" (its not its just edited that way) and he's done it with drones, handhelds and cgi cuts. I do no recommend.

Just watched this. Wouldn’t say it was really good, but it did make me laugh and was Myers stupidity.

Notice they filmed the Dubrovnik bits in the same place they filmed much of The Witchfinder, though not sure where that was.

nu metal adjacent bollocks like RHCP

They certainly influenced some nu-metal band, but to describe them as nu-metal adjacent is going a bit too far.

Never liked it as a teenager, liked plenty of music concurrent to and after nu metal. So don’t pull that on me, mate, please. 😉 That sort of thuggish, nihilistic stuff has never done anything for me.

What makes nu-metal more thuggish than other sub-genres of metal, pray tell?

Metal + rap + misogyny. Very similar. They just had more of a funk influence in their sound.

I detest metal, and honestly don’t have the brain capacity to spare learning all the various sub-genres. Sorry.

I also watched the Woodstock 99 doc. I actually don't remember it at all, even though I must've seen it on the news. The organisers really didn't want to take any blame for what happened, did they? I thought the way one of them tried to gloss over the issue of rape within the festival with a "well, there were a lot of people there, shit happens" attitude was particularly low.

I was going to write a spirited defence of metal, but it would be utterly wasted on you so I won't bother. Instead I will say this.

Not liking something is fine, but talking uninformed shit about it and saying that you don't have the brain capacity to learn about that thing when someone asks you to back up a fairly provocative statement that you've made? That can fuck right off, along with your tendency to label a lot of things that you don't like or don't understand as "thuggish".

PS I saw your original response by the way. I have to admit that I wrote a much more aggressive post initially, but decided to leave it for a few hours before coming back to it with a much calmer state of mind and writing something much more reasonable. Perhaps you should try the same yourself in future?

This thread's been quite the rollercoaster just lately hasn't it?

Anyway, this came up on the front page for some reason and I just thought "if only"

Spoiler

The fact it's gone to a second season tells me it's not going to deliver on the promise of the title.
