Cloverfield Paradox was set for cinema release but Netflix bought the exclusive rights. They’ve just bought Extinction, another sci-fi movie starring Michael Pena. That too was set for a theatrical release but will now be a Netflix exclusive.

Speaking of which, Annihilation continues to score some really impressive notices.

Adam Nevill book The Ritual was adapted to screen relatively recently and that's getting a Netflix release soon. I have no idea if the film is any good but it reviewed well on dedicated horror sites but the book is damn good. If you like Black Metal, creepy woods, creature features and some really messed up, dark and nasty horror - if the film is anything like the book, you'll enjoy it.

Off topic, I was watching Godless the other day and it's 4K but my TV every so often made the flesh tones of the characters go green (for a milisecond) - I'm sure that's just a streaming issue but has anyone else had this happen?  It doesn't happen when I watch anything else in 4K - never happened with Youtube or my Planet Earth II disc.

@neoELITE, have you got the latest HDMI cable type that carries 4K and HDR? Anything labelled HDMI 2.0 or 'high speed' should be fine. Even Amazon Basics pass the bar:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014I8SIJY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_D9RFAb5CWQZ6A

It's not guaranteed to be this, but worth a check at least.

As it's a Smart TV, I use the Netflix app on the TV so the only source cable is the ethernet cable from my router into the TV.

My Xbox One X is showing 2160p through the cable it was supplied with and that's fine. It might have just been a streaming issue - I've watched other stuff since and it hasn't happened.

Where are the forced English subs for the Romanian dialogue at the start of Bram Stoker's Dracula?

This is a common Netflix issue. Seems like they can’t tell when movies are supposed to have subtitles if you have them turned off. Power rangers is the same.

There's lots of Monty Python coming on 15 February.

Monty Python And The Holy Grail

Monty Python's Life Of Brian

Monty Python's The Meaning of Life

Monty Python's Flying Circus

Monty Python Best Bits (Mostly)

Monty Python's Personal Best

Monty Python's Fliegender Zirkus

Monty Python Live (Mostly) : One Down, Five To Go

Monty Python: The Meaning Of Live

Monty Python Conquers America

Monty Python's Almost The Truth

Still no sign of these, either in the UK or a half dozen other random regions I checked.

Anyone know what has happened to them as I really fancied watching Holy Grail again this weekend?

There's a great Korean flick on Netflix at the moment called Office, a very creepy slasher about a Seoul office manager who has a bad day at work, kills his family and then ‘disappears’.

It’s a bit of an oddity, they spend three quarters of the film doing an absolutely superb job of unraveling the weird psycho dynamics of an overworked sales team where all is not as it seems, then they seem to decide to chuck the whole thing away in a rush of completely nonsensical action. I enjoyed it a lot though, well worth a watch.

Open House was shocking, as in a complete waste of 90 minutes or whatever it was.

The Vault wasn’t much better, but at least it had a beginning, middle & end which were connected by a plot ( even if it was a poor one ).

I enjoyed The Babysitter, nothing amazing again but the leads did a good job & the plot held up pretty well.

I tend to mind a lot less if it’s a shit film on Netflix, as it hasn’t technically cost me any money but I’ve also watched a load of other films on there recently than if I’d paid money for, I think I’d have been a lot less impressed with.

Watched a Netflix series called Everything Sucks. I imagine Netflix saw that everyone loved the 80s references in Stranger Things so tried to recreate that but in the 90s. Just without the sci-fi and without 90% of the budget.

It was a bit crap but endearing enough that I made it through all 10 of the 23 minute episodes.

No The Ritual for UK Netflix because the distribution rights are owned by a different company here. Think I'll just rent it from the Playstation Store as I loved the book.

I’m only two episodes in but I hate this show. HATE IT. It feels like it was made by people who weren’t around in the 90’s, it’s on the nose, there aren’t any jokes, the characters are awful - the terrible Sheldon character, McQuaid is played by someone who cannot act for shit. The use of Wonderwall and the video the kid made that's a 90’s collage of music videos was UNBEARABLE.

It’s also shot to look... like how they shoot shows to look like they’re from the seventies, difficult to pinpoint - but the 90’s weren’t brown and sepia from my recollection.

Pretty much!

It's bad when the only thing that I want to watch on that list is Three Amigos.  Think I will be cancelling my sub soon.

But you have Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets to look forward to at the end of the month.

I have a longer watchlist on Netflix than Amazon Prime at the moment, I have more than enough but just not enough time.

ah yes, forgot that, and Lost in space might be good too.

I feel like I have been reduced to sifting through the crap currently, like Between.  Although sometimes it can be a good thing, found The Detectorists the other day and that was great.

I only have freeview and Netflix so I've watched most the good stuff.

No Monty Python :(

I assume that earlier story suggesting the entire Python catalogue was due to hit Netflix was erroneous.

Yep I did check the US Catalogue but could not find anything. I think it was false news.

It's disappointing as I'd really gotten myself in the mood to re-watch Holy Grail although I do have the blu ray somewhere so shall have to faff around with that instead...
