Watched The End Of the F**king World yesterday all in one go.

Enjoyed it, especially the two main actors but the whole thing felt so American I couldn't figure out why it was set in the UK.   It even looked American.

I really enjoyed it all, the acting of the main two was brilliant and the short episodes made it an easy quick binge. Highly recommended.

David Letterman has got a new thing on Netflix - 'My Next Guest'.  First episode with Barack Obama deserves a watch. Truly one of the most inspirational speakers of our generation.

I watched it this morning. I can take or leave his old nightly show but this is must see. No fanfare, just a straight interview. And I miss Obama.

Noticed this was on Netflix now, I watched the whole thing in one sitting back when it was on All4 last year and I loved it.

I noticed a future show will be with Howard Stern. Now, I only know him as a ‘shock jock’ who has pornstars ride the sex machine thing on his show. Why is this dude sharing a stage with Obama?

I’m still hoping Netflix decide to pick it up for S3 - especially as it’s labeled as a Netflix show outside of the US.

Yes I hope so too. I love it. It's absolutely bonkers with really good writing and acting.

I watched Blue Velvet last night, as I wasn't sure if I'd already seen it. Turned out I hadn't, and I spent the entire day at work today spacing out thinking about it.

I don't know what exactly it is about David Lynch, but his work unsettles me more than anything else I ever watch.

I knew being a Lynch film every shot would have something interesting going on, so I was pretty fucking disappointed in the quality of the version on Netflix. Also, my internet connection is over 52mb so it should have no problems always showing the highest quality, but every so often the Netflix stream would drop to sub 240p with artifacts all over it, and I came very close a few times to stopping it in disgust to watch a version that would do it justice. I am absolutely going to get it on disc to enjoy the visuals properly. People keep saying physical media is dying, but if it means we have to put up with imperfections in visual quality that tarnishes such works and ruins their whole frame, then sign me up to smash up the server farms.

From the director of Elite Squad, Jose Padilha

The Mechanism is a thrilling, character-driven original series inspired by real events in Brazil. This fictionalized story explores how a small group of dogged investigators comes to discover the inner workings of a monstrous corruption scheme and the impact their pursuit has on everyone involved – including themselves.

I feel the same way about Lynch. The one film that scared me and gave me recurring fear when I was a kid was Eraserhead. I watched every VHS video nasty known to man by the age of 12 but Eraserhead gave me the fear.

Agreed on Open House, its ending made the whole movie ultimately pointless . It lacked anything in the way of plot development or a real story arc. It could have been a fairly decent thriller albeit a made for TV one but in the end it went nowhere!

Wasn't this kind of the point though? The whole 'American genre but now everything's totally deadpan, unglamourous and shit because it's in the UK' concept is almost a genre in itself at this point. A Buzzcocks song playing (rather than Shuggie Otis, Mazzy Star or the excellent doo-wop/early girl group choices) was actually the most jarring part for me. I was pleasantly surprised when

they didn't pick up Frodo as the C.W. Moss equivalent

since that might've been a little too on the nose.

I enjoyed it loads.
