Netflix - Releases & Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Yeah, random people come out with that claim whenever Netflix or Unblock Us have an issue. I'm not sure Netflix actually could patch it out without disabling the roaming feature altogether, as as far as their servers are concerned the traffic is coming from the US or wherever. I suppose they could introduce a timer, limiting region changes to once a week or something, but I imagine doing so isn't really in their interest.

I watched "Sinister" on UK Netflix last night. What a load of wank! Also out in UK is "The Possession", an "Exorcist" knock-off with a jewish twist which I liked a lot better.

Any good horror suggestions would be highly welcomed.

I don't think Netflix really care about it. It probably gets them subscribers they wouldn't otherwise have.

A few episodes into a U.S t.v series called 'Revolution' that I stumbled across. The premise is more interesting than the execution ( one day all the power on earth just fails. Even batteries don't work. ) as it handles it in the same manner as a series like Jericho where it's often said how desperate everyone is but the main characters have that 'dirty cool' look ( hot female lead is a bit scuffed but her hair is pretty great, etc ). It does have Giancarlo Esposito ( Gustavo Fring ) as one of the bad guys who is pretty good value, but otherwise it's just a sort of semi-agreeable way to kill an hour with the potential for future intrigue/growth.

Hmm, this wasn't really a recommendation, was it?

Yeah, Revolution is ok. It never seems to rise above average. It's quite vicious, though, which is unusual for a mainstream US TV show. Will see how it picks up in season 2.

I've had the same email. I've added a few things to mine, hopefully it will work across different devices so if you add stuff on the PC it'll show up on PS3, etc.

Finally, I'll have a look at this when I get home.

Does it save as 1 list across regions?

I.e. if you add something from US, Canada and UK, do you need to switch regions to see that regions list or is it a unified list?

Just found out that rotten tomatoes has a section for all films on netflix which you can sort by year, genre and rating. It looks like its for the american version but should certainly help sorting the wheat from the chaff

Sadly not much use. Half the films listed aren't on there any more.

Indeed, I'm sort of laughing along with it now. I don't think I've ever known two characters as irritating as Charlie and the neckbeard bloke who's lived in an apocalyptic wasteland for fifteen years but never learnt how to throw a punch. Also Miles made me chuckle with his 'I'm good with a sword, not so good with a gun' then later he's popping people off, one-shot one-kill, with a scoped M16.

I think a kind of Smallville syndrome is trapping me with this one.

I use unlocator.com to watch US Netflix. It's free at the moment while it is in beta.

Works perfectly on Apple TV and iPad.

Just to say thanks for this, I now have us netflix again. It's been the only 'exploit' that worked for me. My son is now watching Spiderman and his amazing friends on my ps3 again!

That sounds about right. Also, Charlie looks like Sebastian Bach from when he was young and in Skid Row.

Started watching slow-burner The Fall. Really works, isn't overly-complicated and has some very good-looking scenes and a very very lovely looking Gillian Anderson, who looks better than in The X-Files days! Give it a watch if you want a more realistic, Northern Irish Luther.

How fast does my Internet need to be to get HD? I just got Fibre installed and its saying the connection is between 35&40mb p/s, but I still don't seem to get HD streaming.
