tbh, the big problem with ShopTo is their policy that if it arrives damaged you can fuck off.

Which was especially a problem for those buying Amiibo and wanting an intact box, because they just threw them in jiffy bags and put a disclaimer on the site saying they weren't responsible for the condition it arrived in.

I've just checked their site and it says they must be notified  within 2 days if an item is damaged with pictures and that it can be returned for a replacement.

Doesn't sound like they are telling you to fuck off tbh.

It is possible they've changed the policy but like I say, at one point there was a big box on the page for every amiibo saying it.

Just back from queueing outside Game for ages, once I got to the entrance person was advising they were only taking payments for XBox pre-orders not PS5. This was due to some issue via Sony. They have no idea when they will be informed but as it stands it will only be until Wednesday when they will allow payments and then click and collect on the day of launch.

Queried if for example they only find out Wednesday morning from Sony and people can't get to the store by the end of the day, what will happen., they advised atm it's likely the pre-order will just sit there until the store is allowed to reopen normally.

It won't sit there, this is GAME, it'll be turned in to a MEGA ULTRA GAMER BUNDLE! Featuring 5 controllers, all the launch games, a camera, 2 years of ps plus, disc care for all the games, insurance and a game guide plus a special launch lanyard for £2000!

Just when you thought the game/gamestation shopping experience couldnt get any worse (What with piss poor trade ins, terrible staff and a crap product range) they have started charging more than anyone else for new releases.

HMV, the only real highstreet competetion that game group has, seem to be charging £37.99 for all their new releases.

How long will these high prices at game/gamestation continue? Is it permanent?

I have been using them for as long as they have been around, but this really is taking the biscuit and once my trade in card is used up I wont be using them again. And i'll make sure I get UC3 done in under 10 days so I can swap it for skyrim - fuck em.

happy GAME THREAD anniversary!

pay now, collect later:

Well spotted @SeanR, 9 years to the day and still Game isn't Finished. Although it's been touch and go a lot, including one buyout by OpCapita. I support the idea above about changing the thread title but you just know they're going down in a blaze of shit the second we change it.

Any news on when the broken failed Xbox all access orders can be made yet? They keep mailing me to tell me they’re designing a “bespoke process” and that they have stock.

Edit - oh you’ve got to go to store. Oh well then.

Useless cunts never got back to me, and ignored twelve DMs on twitter. I wouldn't give these arseholes money if my life depended on it tbqh.

Got one through Amazon though, so praise be to our evil overlord Bezos.

Looks like the issue is resolved, my local Game store just tweeted this. Might head back into town in a bit:

Great news if you can’t get there between those hours because perhaps you work.

Would sir like insurance with that on top as well?

Maybe it was a special case for Amiibo's. Perhaps people were trying to steal them or something. However, hopefully I won't have to send anything back! :D

/crosses fingers

Surely it was because Amiibos are collectibles and people wanted them with pristine packaging? And ultimately the retailer isn’t necessarily required to give that. When I ordered the Kojima Productions Tat Box from Japan it had a disclaimer that the packaging was only provided to protect the contents, and damage to it wouldn’t be grounds for a refund or a replacement.

Would you like me to clean all the discs in our machine sir?

In the store I used to work at, the cleaning liquid that we sponged on - a bit like a roller ball deodorant - ran out very quickly, and it was apparently expensive to get so our management just... didn't. Every disc we put through after that had a minute amount of water smonched onto it from a dry sponge.

Bizarrely, discs came out looking fine, but then wouldn't play.

I have bought my consoles at GAME mainly midnight launches for years and this has never happened. They have offered bundles but never forced them.

This on the other hand is annoying, also try to sell you on the monthly GAME Elite subscription or whatever it is.

Yeah depends on the store, couple I worked in years ago were like this but then they were the larger stores and could demand that to squeeze as much money as possible from every sale.

Yeah sorry I should have started my last post by saying I don't doubt that it happens :D

I'll be honest though and have said so before (please ignore the fact we are in a pandemic this year). Always found buying the console in store just easier than online. At least you can physically queue for preorders when it comes to allocation concerns and you are not in a trance on the courier app waiting for shipping progress updates on the day of release. You can casually stroll in at a time that suits to get your console.

My XSX is being delivered by Amazon this year as i was fearful of a second lockdown ruining launch day, how i predicted that i'll never know (although I am in Scotland so not happened here yet). Fingers crossed theres no issue on the day now with delivery.

My PS5 on the other hand will be an in store collection at GAME and am hoping that goes smoothly.

I expected Mike Ashley to announce that Sports Direct/Game & all the other stores he owns now sell food so he could find a way to keep them still opened.

The thought of Game filled to the brim with luxury unchlorinated poultry in a post-brexit England is pretty spectacular, mind.
