I traded in 9 games and got £122. The highlights - Arkham City £22.90, Binary Domain £25.40 (I only paid £22 for it new!), Command and Conquer 3 £10.40 (that's a 5 year old game), The Orange Box £13.40, Mass Effect 3 £21.40.

No idea what to spend that on.

More Dudley wrongness proof ;) : "You can use your Topman Card in Topman, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Outfit, Topshop and Wallis. You can also use your Topman Card online @ TOPMAN.COM. "

I would have guessed it was 50/50 whether a shop will let you use its card with other shops in its group. Cant see why anyone would be outraged at someone enquiring if you can use a game card at gamestation!! ( I 've done it too :) )

I took another pile in yesterday and got enough in credit to get a pre-owned wifi vita. It looked like a new one traded in, unused. Also got £10 in elite card points too. I have now got about £360 in credit remaining which I will now probably hang on to. Still got a few games left to trade in when I get back to work next week.

This is like Fallout, where you scour the Wasteland for massive amounts of tat and go back to a vendor and sell it all to them.

Is it some kind of hair shirt punishment GAME are inflicting on themselves, to win back the sympathy of gamers?

"We'll take anything! ANYTHING"

"I've got Fifa 06, a cracked OPM coverdisc and this slightly ripped copy of Penthouse I found in a hedge"

"FIVE POUNDS!"

Girl[1] I spoke to in Game (Norwich) yesterday was lovely. Chatted about Skyrim, no hard sell, asked if I was excited about the Kinect support for Skyrim (um, no), said about the trade-in deal being amazing and normally they'd give you 50p at most for FIFA 11 or older, very apologetic about no copies of Kid Icarus in, generally awesome.

Much more pleasant than they used to be. More like this please.

Shame they still had virtually no stock of anything that wasn't 5-year-old crap or Mass Effect 3 though.

[1] No, no pics. Sorry.

I can verify this re: Norwich branch. The guy (not girl, boo) in Game when I went both times was exceptionally polite, didn't try and force anything on me, and even had a chat about Trials Evolution when I was buying XBox Live points.

Yeah, my experience when I took in my pile of old tat in was much better than any Game encounters in recent memory. When I said I probably wasn't going to spend my credit today, the guy said "fair enough", and that was it. I wasn't asked if I wanted to pre-order a game that doesn't come out for two years, didn't have a loyalty card pushed at me, didn't have own-brand peripherals recommended to me, etc. The staff member was a little bored, but friendly and helpful, etc. I wonder if they have re-thought their policy of scripted selling at the till, and getting staff to stalk customers, or if it's just a lull while the new organisation gets its shit together. If the former, I may actually go into Game every once in a while - the hassle I used to get made me steer well clear.

the big problem of finding the cases will be addressed today and tomorrow, and I'll report back with my findings.

If I go through with it.

There's a certain amount of trepidation, an attachment, nostalgia even.

Does anyone want to talk me into keeping some of the games on here?

(and yes, some of them are still on my list of shame)

Fuck that, get rid of them. It's liberating.

Mind you, once you start, you'll never stop. You'll be selling off your internal organs within six months.
