Someone has mentioned in the bargains thread they've reduced what they're giving - anyone got any evidence in here?

I put this in the bargain folder -

A lot of cheap games (sub £5) have gone down by 50p, those around £6-£10 down by about a pound maybe more, those above £10 down by £1.50 plus. £15 plus down by a few quid at least.

Do we know how much Mass Effects have changed by?

(Multiple threads is confusing, but I thought it needed mentioning in here so it seemed better to ask in here).

I seem to always have £2.50 credit on my Game Points Card. I never buy anything from Game or trade anything in there. I only by my MS points there and every single time, I have £2.50 on my card.

I went in today and got £2.00 off 2100 points :)

There was one other person in there looking at Angry Birds toys. Their prices are stupid - £35.00 for Assassins Creed Revelations (I've just ordered it new form Amazon for £16.00), Skyrim was £34.99, £24.50 with Amazon. It's just an expensive place to buy games from and it's not even very good to browse in as they don't carry much stock at all other than "chart games".

Does anyone who works in Game /GS know if Birds of Steel is likely to appear on the shelves any time soon ?

Ha. Exactly what I want to know. Traded a bunch of stuff in and I'm sitting on £75 of credit. You cant even get Birds of Steel on demand, so you couldn't spend the money on points cards and buy it that way either.

Well, my pile is gone... and here's a list to join all of yours. :) Traded at 5:10-ish today, so these are the updated prices.

XBox 360:

FIFA Street 3 £13.40 (Yes, 3. Not the new one. 3)

Race Driver: GRID £8.40

Sega Rally £8.40

Perfect Dark Zero (Classics) £4.40

Beijing 2008 £4.40

Madden NFL £4.40

PS3:

Binary Domain £25.40 (Yes, for a game that's happily available to buy new at £15)

Guitar Hero Van Halen £6.40

Lair £4.40

Wii:

Geometry Wars Galaxies £6.40

Smarty Pants £6.40 (At this one, the cashier remarked he'd never heard of this game. So, £6.40 for a four year old shitty quiz game is somewhat of a result)

Madworld £5.90

Order Up £4.40

Ghost Squad £3.90

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 £3.90

Total: £110.50.

I'm happy. :)

The shower of shites at my local Game only applied the extra £10 to the first 3 games I traded and even after I confronted them about it they still said it was correct. I don't suppose anyone has any experience with querying this sort of thing with their head office as I'm afraid if I go in again it will fall on deaf ears and I'll tear the place up. I've tweeted them in the meantime but I doubt they'll respond.

Well thanks to you guys for letting me know about the deal.

Took in 30 games, 20 of which were year one 360 and DS games. I mean real rubbish like perfect dark zero and original Call Of Duty on 360.

They gave me £335 in exchange.

I bought a used vita for £190 and sold it to a guy at work for £150 cash.

I bought £35 worth of xbox live points and took a gift card home with £110 on it.

For a pile of rubbish I had not played in at least 4 years was a good day.

Thanks again for the advice

J

Where do people have all the space for keeping shit games? It would do my nut in having Perfect Dark Zero hanging around the house for 7 years.

How do you not have shit games lying about? At what point do you get rid of a game? That's the dilemma that makes me hang on to so many old games. When is a game finished with?

Its kind of weird, just games I got at launch and when I went to trade them in a year later they worth already worth pretty much nothing. So my hoarding mentality kicked in and I saved them. Not any place nice just in a bag, in a cupboard in my office.

At the end of the day I looked at my game collection and realised I had a lot of rubbish i was keeping as it had a low resell value. If Game want to give me £5 for a game which is in a plastic bag at the back of a cupboard more fool them :-)

Got £108 for my batch of games. Including stuff like Rayman DS and Xbox Live Arcade Vol 1 I never thought I'd get rid of unless it was for a pitiful amount. Gonna save it for the Wii U arrival, well if they are still around that long.

Interestingly enough I traded them them in at my Gamestation as the Game store was shut down but the receipt was printed on Game receipt paper, maybe a sign of all remaining stores to now just fall under one brand?

I don't know about for anyone else but I've found it really liberating to just get rid of a lot of my collection which I knew I'd never play again or which was just too old to be really worth ebaying. I reckon I've got just over 20 xbox 360 games now which are either favourites or a few I've yet to play. I've still got another 12 or so which either have no covers or which are the asian/ntsc versions so I'll have to get rid of them too but it's older stuff like GRAW 2 etc. Game said they would take the ones without covers but outside of the promo next week so goodness only knows how much they'd be worth.

If anyone needs covers for Rainbow Six Vegas/ Vegas 2 PM me - I have spare ones after my first Vegas disc developed a crack and I was unable to exchange it - the Vegas 2 cover was extra from the Limited Edition Poker set edition I bought eons ago. Oh I also have a Vegas (1) manual too (non classics).

When I went in they said that it was only on the first 3 games so I made them do it in 5 different transactions just to make their life and mine also as tedious as possible

So I think that might be the actual rule I don't know

2 days ago I traded in 9 games at once and the bonus was applied to everything. Even today I went to sort the games in bunches of 3 but the woman said that wasn't necessary.

I just got the email from Game telling me that I can use an included voucher to purchase "anything" instore before 30th April to get a free reward card and - yes - £2.50 credit. :D It also says that I can transfer my GS reward card points onto the freebie, but my old GS card only had about £5-6 on it. Meanwhile my existing reward card still has about £22 worth of points on it. Part of me wonders if it's worth the hassle, but the "anything" bit at least suggests that I don't have to spend £50 on something I don't want...

Terms and Conditions: Offer ends 25th of April 2012. We will give you a total of £10 in addition to the standard Trade-in value for every 3 games that are traded in

The key word is EVERY.

Right, that's it. Armed with this nugget of information I shall stand my ground and demand my extra credit*.

*go red and sheepishly walk away empty handed.

How are Game stocked at the moment? I'd like a trade some old stuff for a new Xbox 360 but are they all out of those, PS3s and so on?

I asked this in the bargains thread and was told to phone ahead which seems like good advice.

Gamestation are defintiely offering the same prices.. I traded Disaster Wii for £13.40 and Brain Training for £11.40ish.. Its madness!

Thanks, had the same experience. Pleasantly surprised at the decent, non harassing and genuinely enthusiastic customer service I received instore. The store I went to (Manchester Arndale Gamestation) has a decent enough rep on here I think but it was impressed with them, miles better than the last few times I'd been in nearby GAME stores.

What I got:

DS Games

Shiren

Final Fantasy Chocobo

Jam with the Band

Hoshigami

Soul Bubble

Greys Anatomy, all £4.40 each

Big Brain Training £11.40

Brain Training £9.40

More Brain Training £11.40

Wii

Geometry Wars- £6.40

Madworld- £6.40

Boom Blox Bash Party £6.40

Kororinpa £4.40

PES 2009 £3.90

Disaster £11.40

Dead Space £6.40

Sonic Racing with Wheel £13.40

Ended up with £121.20, ultimately short of my target to get a Vita or PS3 but still enough for three and a half new 3DS games in the future. Got a few things from Grainger and CEX but the latter especially had been gutted. Nothing remarkable in my list as we've all seen them, Sonic Racing with the wheel at £4 more than GAME sold it me new for at Xmas was a funny one.

Mostly glad to have got rid of all those DS games that where sat doing nothing, got more than I would on eBay or Amazon and without the hassle. Rayman Wii would have been £13.40 but I kept that one, was only looking at getting rid in hope of getting the Vita version.
