Honestly, I would say that I spotted about 20 games in cex yesterday that I could have at least doubled my money with and I was only on there for a minute.

Ds mystery case files millionheir. 4 to 13

All of the ds brain games 4-5 to 11-14

SSF4 Xbox 8 to 16

Red steel

That's ignoring all of the £1 games if you feel too cheap to so those.

Yeah it did feel wrong, which is why I actually limited myself to just trading 3 games I picked up from CEX (Both Brain Trainings and a Fifa 10)... I bet the remaining Game/Gamestations just can't bloody wait for this offer to finish!

Thing is, the Gamestation staff didnt blink twice at the tat that was being traded.. its like they have already become desensitised to it all and just accept it regardless.

When did OpCapita go into Administration?

You're being obtuse now, they've re-hired people who are capable of doing it again. Offering 13 quid for something they sold last week for a fiver isn't good business in any possible way. They're trying the long term strategy of getting people back through the doors again, but people arent stupid. They'll rack up a load of credit from the offer and spend it on Vitas or other low margin stuff. GAME's money is made from pre-owned, nothing else. And theyre buying back stock for a 100% markup from they very people who's custom theyve been heammoraging. It is total madness, a stupid strategy.

Doesnt look like they have learnt much about their pre-owned pricing markup either.. saw the copy of Children of Mana I previously traded priced up at £12.99 (they gave me £5.60 for it).. surely around a 30% increase would make better sense, and possibly result in the game actually selling!

Except that it can be. Same way as giving a few million pounds in free money to gift card holders might be, something everyone argued for.

"Rehired people who are capable of doing it again". EVERYONE is capable of doing it, but this is not GAME's old management. You can't use GAME's past actions as proof of anything.

And I'm not 100% sure on this but the sale took place under old GAME financing which means OpCapita didn't sell it at that price and therefore it isn't the same as them buying back stuff they sold to you. This is OC basically being a new store that has opened simply giving you better value for your products. Its the same as you getting cheap stuff from CEX and trading it in on the offer... the source of where you got what you are trading in is different and not related to GAME as it is now and come under separate finance sheets of two different businesses.

However, I do agree that it seems madness to give such a sum of money for some of these titles..... But as Dudley says, it would seem to make sense in terms of building a customer base and restoring faith in the brand. In future, when people think trade-in they are more likely to go to GAME first and that can make a big difference. Plus you are now all running around with £500 gift cards ready to spend it on whatever you can get. If you spend it on new stock you are simply helping GAME show that they still have the power to be a huge market force. If you spend it on preowned they will still make their margins.

Watch out people, it's time for another LIST:

Halo Reach: £15.40

Star Ocean 4: £5.90

Last Remnant: £5.90

Infinite Undiscovery: £6.40

Mirror's Edge: £6.40

Bad Company 2: £6.40

Lost Planet 2: £5.90

Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires: £5.90

Lost Odyssey: £4.40

FFXIII: £11.40

Stranglehold: £4.40

Mass Effect 1: £14.70 (whut)

And then Fallout 3 for £3 and L4D2 for £12 as I didn't have a multiple of 3. All 360.

Considering how close I was to just binning half of that stuff, it came out alright. Popped into CEX and heard someone saying he'd traded in a load of stuff for a Vita in Gamestation and was trading it in there for cash.

I bought 6 games from Gamestation in the fire sale for £12, which remained in the Gamestation carrier bag in my car until yesterday when I sold them to Game for £32.40.

I also got shot of another 21 games, mostley Wii and 360 with a few DS and managed to walk away with £243 in store credit.

I wont do a list of them all, just the crazy good ones:

Mario Kart Wii £21.90

Mario Kart DS £21.90

GTAIV: Episodes from Liberty City £21.90 (I'm sure I only paid £20 new from Tesco).

I don't suppose anybody knows how much they're giving for Soul Calibur V and Street Fighter X Tekken? I stupidly thought that now I'm a stay at home Dad three days a week, I'd actually have time to play fighting games again. :(
