Alot of the points earlier on regarding game were saying that one or more of the below should take place to "fix" game.

Higher trade in prices, encouraging people to use service and buy more

Lower preowned prices to encourage trade

New prices to be closer to online ones

Now they have tried point one and all that has happened is that everyone is taking the piss and profiteering... So where is the incentive to even try points two and three? For an unprofitable business how in the hell is the above business model going to work at all, let alone when everyone goes into it trying to rip as much money as they can out of it...

whenever you try and offer the general public a decent deal their immediate response is to see how far they can exploit it. Go and see That hot deals den of inquity for evidence...

We just don't deserve nice things do we :)

Not really. The objective of a business is to turn a profit. They "exploit" and "take the piss" every single living day. So why cant the individual?

How is taking in lots of games taking the piss? Game surely want people to take loads of games in - why else would they do the "extra £10 for every 3 games" offer? And if they only wanted each person to take in only a small quantity (i.e. not several multiples of 3), they could have set an upper limit on the offer*.

As for people offloading low-value games - again, Game didn't have to set a minimum price - they clearly are trying to get hold of as many games as possible, no matter the value of the game. This may or may not be a good plan on Game's part, but I don't think people taking advantage of the offer - using it for the purposes it was apparently set up for - are taking the piss.

*Yes, I know the seller could come back later and try to sneak another batch through, or get a friend to trade some of them in, but it would deter the behaviour; "maximum of N per customer" offers are not uncommon.

anyways, supply and demand goes both ways. If Game-co are going to sell Dead Island for £55 cos it is rare on launch day I'm sure as hell gonna walk in with a pile of 75p clangers from the Glasgow CEX (which has more games than I've ever seen) to round out my pile 'o games. They seem to have made a few different My Health Coach 'games'. she rides!

My post was slightly tongue in cheek...

I was just saying that everyone was saying previously "offer more for preowned" as part of stuff that could make Game better. They have done that and its just being understandably exploited.

And "taking the piss" was referring to buying sackloads of tat for £1 from CEX purely to get credit with game :)

And for those saying N per customer pointed out their own flaw... people would ifnd a way around it, its human nature.

And finally yes Game were taking the piss before and now the customer is.. but where is the magic balance point where noone is getting "ripped off"...

I don't think GAME are being badly done by. In one fell swoop they've got people back in their stores, encouraged customers to amass credit that can only be spent in said stores, and can take any sales bumps and increased pre-order numbers to publishers in order to get them back on side; puffing up their chest ultimately leads to more favourable distribution terms.

A minority will exploit the offer, sure, but I can't imagine the company weren't cognisant of that. There's umpteen ways they could have safeguarded against such a thing yet they didn't, so you have to assume the terms of the offer are entirely purposeful.

TBH, a lot the the games people in this thread traded in were worth more that £4.40 or so game gave them. If some of that stuff was put on sale here I would have bought it for more. (Resi Evil Revelations £7.40?Prof Layton 3 £6.40?Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword £4.40)

As usual, they are supposed to be 'specialists' but a blanket price for all games seems to me aking to cash generator, which prices games according to year of publication. Somebody here wrote that they were offered £1 for GC Zelda TP. I dunno, they dont seem to be 'in tune' with the gaming population enought to see them through these rought times.

Was bored so just done a quick tally up and it looks like from spending just under £15 on games (either from Games own sale last month or CEX etc) Ive got £62 back!

Couple that with the 5 games I added from my own collection (Fifa 09, Madworld, Fable 2, The wifes DS Cooking Guide & Children of Mana), and I came away with £25 of PSN credit, Mass Effect 3 on 360 (for £29.99) and £33 worth of store credit.

They are defintiely being thoroughly restocked though.. my local Gamestation yesterday had 54 boxes of stock delivered.. and the boxes are BIG!

Took a load of stuff to Game this evening expecting around £200, total amount was actually £452! There was another guy in there before me and he had a stack of 360 games that was probably taller than the counter - his total was around £570! Some of the prices they were giving seem crazy - £14.70 for Wii Sports, £21.40 for Mario Kart - surely there's no profit in stuff like that?

roughly how many games would you have take in to get back £200, I reckon I can complete my 'wishlist' using this scheme and buying copius amounts of bargain tat.

I have traded in 48 games so far and got £350 credit. Most of these have been games that I haven't been able to sell online for £5 delivered. There have been a few in there for higher prices like star wars complete and goldeneye but I only paid £5 for those.

I am starting to run out of rubbish games now though. I have another maybe 20 to trade and that will about it.

Any idea if Gamestation offer the same prices are GAME? Got a few games here like Disaster Wii, Goldeneye and Brain Training that are apparently worth a fair whack only at GAME, only Gamestation is more convenient to get to now they've shut half the stores.

I have traded all mine in at game but I haven't seen any reports that the prices are significantly different.

You should get about £35 for those 3.

Aye, thanks for that. Those where the ones that caught my eye on here and HUKD as being worth loads, don't suppose you've trade any of these and have a rough figure for them too?

DS Games

Shiren

Final Fantasy Chocobo

Jam with the Band

Hoshigami

Soul Bubble

Wii

Geometry Wars- £6.40 @HUKD

Madworld- £6.40 @HUKD

Boom Blox Bash Party

Kororinpa

PES 2009

Figure that even at the lowest price of £4.40 each it's more than they're worth on eBay etc, guess I'm hoping for higher anomalies on the DS stuff.

Just wondering if I'm getting anywhere near enough the £200 or so for a PS3 console, if I can get half then I'll probably try and buy certain things from CEX to boost it.

Do they really not mind you talking in crap from other stores? I'd feel weird.

Just imagine you're in an episode of The Apprentice, 'upcycling' for the approval of Sir Alan Sugar.

Isn't buying up stock and then selling it on for a profit exactly what shops do? What you're doing is no different, if you can be arsed.

Gamestation are defintiely offering the same prices.. I traded Disaster Wii for £13.40 and Brain Training for £11.40ish.. Its madness!

Honestly, I would say that I spotted about 20 games in cex yesterday that I could have at least doubled my money with and I was only on there for a minute.

Ds mystery case files millionheir. 4 to 13

All of the ds brain games 4-5 to 11-14

SSF4 Xbox 8 to 16

Red steel

That's ignoring all of the £1 games if you feel too cheap to so those.
