From the receipt:

Professor Layton & The Curious Village - £17.40

Brain Training - £11.40

Football Director DS - £5.40

Agatha Christie ABC Murders - £4.40

42 All Time Classics - £8.40

Mirror's Edge - £6.40

£53.40 is pretty mad for that lot. CeX would've given me about thirteen quid. I took Skyrim and will probably grab ME3 once that's back in stock.

All of those are cheaper to buy instore than how much they gave you. Madness.

I just complete a trip with a friend, we both took 20 games each, and we both got £120+. Some of the prices are ridiculously high, I took in the £11 of games I bought in their sale and got £24 for them.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood - £11.40

Gears of War 2 - £6.40

Just Cause - £4.40

Infinite Undiscovery - £6.40

Brink - £5.90

Samurai Showdown Zen - £4.40

Child of Eden - £5.90

Modnation - £8.40

Shadows of the Dammed - £5.90

Crysis 2 - £8.40

Yakuza 4 - £7.90

MGS4 - £8.40

FFXIII - £11.40

Ghost Squad £4.40

Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus - £13.40

Metroid other M - £8.40

Sin and Punishment - £7.90

=£129 on a gift card

I made sure to get a print out before I ok'ed the trade in. A few titles were underpriced but others were punching above their weight so it evened out nicely. They didn't take 3 games I had. No idea what I'll spend the credit on but there is no rush to use it.

Disaster day of Crisis on Wii has got to be one of the best bargains. Picked it up for £1.98 the other week traded it in to the very same shop today and got £13.40 for it... How in anyone's world does that make good business sense!

Oh and Advance Wars Dark Conflict that I paid for 98p got me £8.40ish.

Ended up with £45 from 6 titles (including a Fifa)

So thats Trials Evolution, Fez & Journey paid for... Thanks Gamestation.

Got rid of another 6 games of tat today (mostly really old DS games I've held onto far longer than necessary) and bought Rayman Origins and 2100 points from the profit.

I think I am almost completely out of rubbish, played-through games now.

Much to the chagrin of horribleman, here are the prices I got for those keeping tabs. If you knock £3.40 off each you presumably get their standalone, non-offer value:

  • Killzone 3 - £13.40
  • Dragon Age 2 Signature Edition (PS3) - £8.40
  • Mirror's Edge (PS3) - £4.40
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3) - £7.90
  • Batman: Arkham City (PS3) - £22.90
  • Xenoblade Chronicles - £15.40

Some of the trade-in prices aren't that great, but they beat what Amazon were offering which is where the games were headed otherwise.

I happened to be served by the manager and he seemed pretty upbeat. My local GAME is in a pretty good position — the only remaining competition on the highstreet is Blockbuster, which I think a lot of people overlook in the first place — so as long as the company as a whole holds out I imagine it'll do pretty well. As for my custom specifically, I think they need to get their website back on track and have real crossover with their physical stores.

I just took 47 games in and got a rather pleasant £540 credit note. Bought a 3G vita, 2 games, memory card and a couple of other bits and have got £204 left. All that shite just sitting in various cupboards. Gone!

I got the impression they probably won't be getting SE2 in though as it was nowhere to be seen in their "pre-order now list" but apparently it's out on May the 4th. I also earned a fiver in reward points. Chuffed, assuming they don't go bust again between now and the end of May.

I know it's 50p but I take it both were for the 360? Why the difference?

I'm tempted to trade in Tiger Woods 10, Star Wars Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edtion and Enslaved for the 360 but no idea what I'll get for them...

So from GAME's point of view, how is this sustainable?

This is purely guesswork and I'm sure any economics expert will put this down but I'm guessing that they open this offer for a short time and get in a lot of stock and people get lots of credit. Game then gets the publishers back on board and people start using the credit for purchasing new games, consoles etc. With these sales Game can show that they are still relevant and still bringing the customers in. It's not a sustainable long term thing but in the very short term it brings the customers in and hey, you never know, they may even see some second hand games that they want to buy.

Of course that makes me wonder why they're accepting older sports game titles, you'd think they'd want rid of them!
