Fortnite BR | Chapter 2

Recommended Posts

Really enjoying this but biggest criticism is, and it feels like a major one and I've no idea how it even got made with it in, is you really need to be able to make schematics from the menu screen. It is such a bad design to have to load into a mission or your homebase just to be able to make something.

I also got my first Pinata to gold! Got a Legendary baseball bat schematic out of it; not that I'll ever use it mind, but was nice to get an orange :)

Told you you'd get one eventually!

With it being early access hopefully they will make the changes needed to make it a lot more user friendly. It's been through quite a few changes since it was first announced so I guess in previous versions it didn't matter.

Aye, same here. The vast majority of phat lewt disappears in the Collection Book.

edit: my Constructor is now Star rank 2.5. Only cosmetic change: she now wears a hat. God damn it, that is how levelling up a woman in a video game works. Less clothing is expected, not more :quote:

Fucking hell, had Scruff been playing half an hour before he complained about not getting any top-tier loot?

Classic Scruff.

Shut it you :P

It was more the point Spork was getting upgraded pinatas and extra characters all over the shop while I was only getting XP. I had to buy the pinatas with the coins from the collection book!

I bet you're swimming in stuff.

Just don't ask whether he has found a scope in PUBG.

Dev AMA on Reddit at 12:00 PM ET. No idea what time that is in metric.

Thread is already filled with info, such as that you can upgrade already built parts from wood -> stone -> metal by doing the following: edit the section, select material, end editing. I had no idea!

5pm!

It's been a genuine surprise for me. You can see where all the development time has gone, every aspect of the game feels incredibly robust. I love the art style and animation, the combat (both weapon and melee) has a great feel to it and the building model is incredibly intuitive. The gameplay loop of gathering, building and combat is just so satisfying, it even has a nice variety of objectives. I also love the variety in classes, as each of the four classes have various sub-classes with distinct differences. I have several outlanders; one who specialises at gathering and looting, another who has extra shield and melee-orientated perks and a third who makes better use of traps and usable items. Which reminds me, the TEDDY turret is absolutely hilarious

The work that needs to be done is in the menus, and introducing the mechanics and story. If they can flesh this out a little more, the game could be sensational. Scrap that, it already is sensational, but as always, there is room for improvement.

The slug thrower is one of the most satisfying weapons I've come across in games. It's up there with the railway sleeper gun in FO3 and the shotgun from Mafia 3

*edit to @Takizawa, it is an incredibly well rounded game with a few irritations and stuff that needs to be fixed. They could really do with trying to explain some of the functions properly too. I had to do the Defender mission and despite giving them the gun and 280 rounds, they stood around telling me they had no ammo and generally being utterly useless.

I'm willing to overlook stuff like that because it's a very solid and satisfying game with a lot of polish already.

Every part of me wants this, but knowing it will be going F2P next year and limited time to play anything puts me off at the moment.

How vital is it to play with people and communicate?

Stonewood, the first large area (the story is told through quests that spread out over different pages. Page 1 through 10 are set in Stonewood and act basically as a large and extensive tutorial where you get familiar with weapons, map layout, enemy design and attacks, objectives, gathering, upgrading skills and talents etc.), can be cleared without uttering a single word to anyone. The second area is supposedly more challenging and I'd not be surprised if you need to communicate who does what where and when.

It is a jolly good game that offers a massive amount of content. I paid 35 euro for the bare bones version and am very happy with it.

It's well worth the money, I'm surprised at the whole free to play thing really, I reckon it'd do great as a normal release. For something in beta, despite the initial server kickback on launch day it's extremely polished and well done, the menus could do with a bit of work as mentioned but there's a helluva lot of content there. Think we put in near 10 hours over the weekend and there's still bits we're figuring out.

RE Communication it's definitely more fun to play with people you know and can speak to, I would never play it with randoms purely cos the ability to troll is quite high. As @df0 said the first area is pretty basic but it does start to ramp up and I definitely agree later on you will need to co-ordinate who watches which direction and builds what where etc.

It is possible to solo the majority of it as well at least in the first area, it just proves more time consuming as you have to find all mats yourself, build all defenses yourself and then watch all directions yourself. It's certainly viable in the initial area but I doubt you could get far doing it.It's also far more boring, half the fun is playing with friends and have them call out stuff they've found etc or do stupid shit. On your own it's a bit barren!

The random troll potential is huge even though they've already got mechanisms to deal with it.

"let me build mate I've got loads of mats"

Ten minutes later your realise they've destroyed hours of traps and walls on the side of the building you're not at.

i expect we will see videos of that very soon.

Given Destiny2 has gone down like a stone I'm surprised more aren't looking to this for some looting&shooting it's a far better game.

Ta guys. Think I am out then. Flat is tiny and I rarely get time to play at decent hours, so comms is a big no no so as not to wake the baby.

Don't be quiet around a baby, you will be stuck tip toeing around for the next 18 years.  They get used to noise and will sleep through anything!

Might have to pick this up, if I can tear myself away from Rust.

Not my first baby ;)

This one is a VERY light sleeper and Lo has just gone back to work, so any sleep we are getting is welcomed.

I won't ignore the game completely, just wait for the F2P release.

Teamed up with Scruff yesterday, he generously dropped two weapons for me that were very close to their breaking point.

Would not recommend.

Clearly Scruff used this as an opportunity to clear some inventory space, but made it seem like he was doing you a favour.

Classic Scruff

Are you still enjoying it, chaps?
