The free challenges were pretty meh once they unlocked for me - play 50 games, be in ten games where you shoot at least one person, etc. etc. All basically grinding tasks that you just do as part of general play. I guess they mainly serve as a taster for the season pass, though it'd surely make sense if they showed you the season pass challenges, to tempt you in. I can see decent challenges being a solid addition, as most of my games amount to 15-20 minutes of gathering excellent gear followed by emptying my best weapon in the direction of a child and being one-shotted in return. If I could get some positive reinforcement from kicking footballs around along the way, I doubt it'd hurt.

Many months ago when Fortnite came out for Xbox I quickly signed up for an epic account so that I could link accounts. 

I chose bignige as my username without a thought. I've never ever posted on epic's forums - it was just a means to create an account.

After a couple of weeks of playing Fortnite it would no longer load into an online game, it would just hang on the loading screen.
At first I thought it was just Fortnite being buggy - after 3 weeks I decided to contact epic about it, they replied several weeks later....

Here's the reply:
*Hi there, Apologies for the delayed response. Your Display Name was reported to us as being inappropriate. Due to the particularly egregious nature of your name, your account has been permanently banned. Any External Accounts linked to the now banned Epic Account will not be removed. This means you will not be able to link your External Account with any other Epic Accounts. SkribblrPrsn Player Support

 

I contacted them on Discord and spoke to a really helpful person, explained the situation, mentioned my name is Nigel and said I was happy to change my account name if they unbanned me. They did it straight away.

Fast forward to last week  and the same thing is happening on the Switch (I can still play on Xbox, PC and iOS). 
When I originally bought a Wii (at launch), my chosen NNID was bignige and this has been carried over from Wii, WiiU, 3DS and Switch.
Even though my screen name is NIGEL, I think somehow my NNID has set alarm bell ringing?

The thing is I would happily change it, but Nintendo say it's impossible to do I think?

 

It's 2004 all over again!

Deleted. I can see myself seriously becoming addicted to this but totally recognise its a massive time sink....so it's gone.

You can’t. You cross play by playing with your mates who are on other platforms.  Otherwise it defaults to filling with the same.

Ah, I have a cunning plan. If I setup an account on a mobile and join them I’ll get matched with touchscreen players and I might actually stand a chance of shooting someone.  :sherlock:

This really highlights how much of a mistake Nintendo have made by not putting a headphone jack in the Pro controller or having Bluetooth headphone support. Not having directional audio is a massive disadvantage, and you can’t really voice chat either without trailing an enormous headphone cable across your living room while playing docked. 

 

 

Love how quickly it loads on Switch, though. Takes ages on the One X.

Yeah, it totally needs a headphone jack on the controller. Love this feature on my PS4.

 

It does have wireless support for headphones but does this include microphone? Sucks about directional audio though - fortnite makes superb use of it!

I'm using a wireless headset with a mic - I have directional audio (I can tell where things are by listening out if that's what you mean) and voice, and no cable. It's totally possible.

 

Extra funny, because it's a Playstation wireless headset.

That's good news. Directional sound is a major part of Fortnite, you would be at a massive disadvantage without it!

Thanks for the reminder. Totally forgot about that - I used a Gold headset myself.

After a couple of frustrating top 3 mess ups I had a tense shoot out at Loot Lake resulting in a VR!

 

I have to say I’m enjoying this more on Switch than any other console at the mo. 

Having played this since release with an Xbox elite controller I’v enjoyed relearning to use a controller without paddles. My brain gets it wrong occasionally, but I’m getting there. 

 

If if anyone fancies some duos and squads add me up!

Its odd as it runs pretty poorly on Switch but it’s a lot of fun because the skill level is way lower so you can go aggressive all the time and not need to be a great builder to compete.

 

Who am I kidding , win whore so Switch version is bestest ;)

I had originally written this off as a cheap looking PUBG clone and had no interest in playing whatsoever but all the hype around the Switch version made me want to give it a go

 

 

....turns out it's pretty damn good :lol:

 

Enjoying it helluva lot more than PUBG so far (Mainly because I'm actually halfway decent - I even won a Solo game the other day!)

Super tempted by the Battle Pass but with only 18 days left on this one I might wait 'till the new season starts.

I'm glad you said it, was getting a bit Emperor's New Clothes in here. Is that all people are talking about? I know you can get supposed super fancy 7.1 audio on the Platinum headset with games that support it, but to be honest I can't really tell the difference in the one game I have that uses it (UC4).
